The baby’s Brain MRI Images have been acquired from the consenting parents; we need to acquire information of these subjects in order to do the preliminary data analysis. This data analysis will be used in the brain volumetric and to device future plan for the project. Information that we need:

Justification: For the Recruitment Visit data – it helps us understand the background of the subject and possible confounding factors.

Project Proposal: Guidelines (DATA/SAMPLE REQUISITION)


Application: All individuals involved must be listed in Section 1 (page 1). All projects to be undertaken under the supervision of a GUSTO PI (page 7). Graduate students, post-doctoral

fellows and other trainees must be supervised by a GUSTO PI. Project outlines should be structured as follows:

The project outline should be a maximum of 1 page, 12-point font size, 2cm margin. Five minutes presentation time will be granted during the face-to-face meeting and should be presented by the Cluster/ Platform Chair.

Datasets to be accessed should be indicated from the list below. Any new study that leverages on data from GUSTO should be identified, and must be approved by the GUSTO/ S-

PRESTO Executive Committee (Exec), and then the appropriate ethics review board. Detailed information of all datasets and samples you wish to access needs to be given. If only a subset of data is

required within the set, this should be specified.Process:

Applicant receives approval and endorsement from the designated Cluster/Platform Chairs. Face-to-face meeting to be held 3 times a year (tentatively around March, July, November), being a half day event.

Both Form A and C are reviewed at this meeting. At least 2 months before the face-to-face meeting, Research Manager, Sock Peng ([email protected]) will send

an email notification to Cluster/ Platform Chairs and Cluster/ Platform in-charge. Cluster/ Platform in-charge will be the point of contact to email their respective Forms to Sock Peng

Once approved, the Applicant will receive access to the datasets and/ samples requested. No secondary analysis of data provided to the GUSTO Investigator should be undertaken without written approval

of the Executive. Once approved, the GUSTO Investigator has 12 months to fill out Form B (see below).

Public presentation of data (Fill in FORM B): It is the responsibility of the Investigator to ensure that the data is prepared for publication/presentation in a

timely fashion. All public presentation of data (manuscripts/abstracts for poster/oral) containing any material derived from the

GUSTO datasets/samples must be communicated to the Exec for approval. FORM B should be submitted to the Cohort Rep, Ann Huang ([email protected]).

1. What is the purpose of a Form like this?With a project of this magnitude, there needs to be overall management of data. The balance between achieving the programme objectives and the many domain interests from committed investigators must be kept, all while preserving relationships in this collaborative effort.

GUSTO and GUSTO-derived data must be lodged with central data management team at the end of the project or any earlier date requested by the Exec.

2. Can Students/Researchers (not on the Form A list) put in a request?Yes, but not without the guidance of Investigators (listed on Page 7).

3. Why is it important to keep Cluster/ Platform Chairs in the loop before going to the Exec?Cluster/ Platform Chairs are to track all developments, advise the Exec of these intentions, and ensure that proper routes are taken before a cross cluster/ platform request is put in.

The Cluster/ Platform Chairs should advise on the inclusion of researchers, the possible overlap with existing projects, and the focus for the submissions. Cross-domain complementary/ correlated projects are highly sought after.

4. What are Exec’s roles?The Exec reviews the form and in conjunction with the Cluster/ Platform Chairs, may or may not add others to it. The Exec will also review intended hypotheses, analyses and datasets/samples requests. The Exec, together with the Scientific team may suggest additional hypotheses/analyses or inform the requestor of other domains that they can collaborate with to add value to their findings. Requests for samples must be monitored to optimize usage.

5. Does submission of Form A guarantee authorship order, and is it possible that someone other than the person who submitted the form could be first/last author depending on the degree of work prior to and after the form?The form must be submitted by a listed GUSTO Investigator (or at least in their name). When there is a need to publish, Form B is submitted. The Exec and Cluster/ Platform Chairs can insist on the inclusion of additional names on any presentations, but the order of the authorship lies with the GUSTO Investigator. This order is to be made clear when a publication/presentation is due for submission.

6. How do we let the Exec know about our intention to publish? Is there a timeline to publish after data has been requested (through Form A)?Form B should be filled in for publication/presentation approval. Once again, Cluster/ Platform Chairs should be consulted. As a guideline, we would like to encourage Investigators to publish their findings within 12 months of a data request.

7. Is there an avenue for an Investigator who wishes to get help with statistical analysis?Certainly. We have included, in Form A, an option to request for this. Your request will then be forwarded to the Stats team so that they can liaise with you directly, after approval from the Exec.
