Moira Anne Stanisch

The score was 23-21 and Kane was losing to

DCC in the tournament. These next few serves

would depend on if they won the game or not, Moira

had to bring us up and the whole team was relying

on her to win the game. When she started off she

threw the volleyball high in the air and hit it with a

hard “SMACK!”. We all knew that she could win the

game for the team but now she had to prove it. As she kept serving the volleyball over

the net, the team kept gaining points. Two, three, four points were scored and now the

spotlight was on her. If she didn't make the volleyball over the net Kane would lose the

game. She took a deep breath preparing herself for the serve and now it was time, she

once again threw the ball in the air and hit it as hard as she could. The ball dashed

through the air and hit the ground with a loud “BANG!”. Everyone in the crowd rose from

their seats screaming and clapping. All of the volleyball players ran off of the court

applauding and jumping on moira for she had won the game for Kane!

Even before and after this story Moira always worked her hardest at volleyball.

She says that one of her biggest accomplishments was improving majorly in volleyball

since she first started and being able to play with older kids than her. Other than playing

for Kane’s middle school team Moira also participates in Club 1890 and for a travel

team which both play very competitive volleyball. Her goal is to eventually one day

become a Penn State volleyball player. Her role model was also a Penn State volleyball

player named Kendall Pierce. Moira says that she looks up to Kendall so much because

of Kendall being a volleyball player and because she was also one of the top students in

her classes while attending Penn State. Along with playing volleyball Moira says that

she like playing the piano and basketball. In her spare time you can find her doing one

of these three events.

Moira says that when she thinks of the word happiness she thinks of simply

having fun with her friends, laughing, and not thinking about the negatives in life. When

asking her what the funniest moment in her life was she responded with falling in a hot

tub and watching Aubri blindly kick and punch Sadie. She went on to say that one day

while her and her sister were playing volleyball, her sister passed the ball too far back

and when she went to step backwards her foot got caught and she tripped and fell into

the hot tub behind her.

After talking to Moira for a while I also got to learn a few random facts about her.

She was born on September 9th, 2003 in Warren. Her favorite traveling memory was

when she traveled to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was because she got to meet her cousins

and she enjoyed experiencing the climate change. Her biggest fears include heights

and spiders and if she could have any superpower it would be to fly. She states that her

biggest regret in life would be not spending enough time doing more with her sisters and

she still desires to get better at spending her time wisely. In school Moira is a part of the

orchestra, basketball team, volleyball team, track team, and in the band.

In conclusion, Moira is a very good academic student in school, is very involved

with her school, and spends most of her time working at the things she loves doing.
