Welcome and introduction
IRCUpdates:
A total of 8,700 (7,471 female and 1,229 male) beneficiaries were reached with hygiene promotion activities through community volunteers and staff monitoring across 20 housing camp, GSS camp, and Gwoza Wakane IDP camp. Hygiene messages include; critical hand washing time, safe water handling and personal hygiene practices.
IRC awaits response from UNICEF on the request sent for dislodging 45 drop latrines across 20 Housing and GSS camps.
In addition to existing IRC borehole 1 and 2 in 20 housing IRC to start utilizing another already drilled borehole to increase the water coverage in 20 housing.
Borehole yield test was carried out at IRC borehole 2 in 20 Housing camp and new submersible pump with higher horse power (HP) with borehole yield of 1.46L/sec has been installed to increase water supply from xxx to xxx l/d in the camp.
45 drop holes of latrines have been identified as filled-up latrines in GSS and 20Housing camps.
Damaged latrines and bathing shelters need to be rehabilitated by UNICEF in 20 housing and GSS camp
There is a sense of division between the existing camp hygiene promotion volunteers and newly formed ones.
Request has been sent to UNICEF for latrine dislodgement in camps.
Gwoza Wash cluster has held a meeting with the volunteers to clarify to them the reason for the new development, and also IRC and IOM agreed to work bilaterally to carry out assessment. 11th April,

IRC will distribute NFIs (latrine cleaning materials, water storage and hygiene kits) to 1575HH across 20 housing camp, GSS, and Gwoza wakane IDP camps next week.
Plan to distribute NFI kits, the contents of 20Litr and 10litr Jerry can, 20litr of plastic bucket and basin, steel cup, Jug, laundry and bathing soap targeting 1000HH across the Camps.

Additional teams of hygiene promotion volunteers across camps, the team comprise of representatives across all the zones in the camps :
In GSS camp, IOM will be transferring existing shelters located in a water-logged area to a better location in GSS, the implication is, more WASH facilities would be needed in that area.
Water quality test to be conducted. Batch chlorination would be done pending, when chemical and
microbiological test has been conducted to ensure people take a safe water.
MSF MSF has in stock NFI items for escapees.

Updates: Mercy corps has the plan to upgrade/rehabilitate boreholes
across Gadamayo Bayan day, REB, TC and Ajari Mercy corps has the plan to distribute hygiene kits (soap, tooth
paste, tooth brush, sanitary pads etc.) to 1500 HH in camps. Mercy corps has the plan to clear solid waste across Gwoza
town. Underground water monitoring program called the digital data
Zone F in GSS camp is need of bathing shelters.
MSF needs a new borehole in the hospital
As a temporary measure, Shelters to be located considering the proximity to the existing latrines and bathing shelters in that area, pending when WASH facilities will be provided.

loggers in consultation of US firm to be started in Gwoza, to help understand the behavior of ground water in Gwoza for the purpose of advising the community in terms of managing their water resource. Training of WASH actors would be done on that as well.
Mercy corps has plan of constructing of 80 drop holes of house hold latrine across host communities.
Water testing kits to be provided to Gwoza by mercy corps for any actor that would need it for water quality

Need for maintenance of water points across host communities
IRC has the plan to drill hand pumps across host communities.
Mercy corps to do assessment of the tap heads damaged and provide solution.
WASH Partners would meet to deliberate on providing services to both camps and host communities base on need (NFIs) to avoid duplication of effort.
