GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position involves planning and implementing career development programs to meet the goals and objectives of the HS/EHS/Pre-K program.

Correctly completes and reviews all required paperwork for service areas and submits to appropriate personnel by scheduled deadlines.

Assists Education Quality Monitors with monitoring classrooms through observations to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations.

Works in classroom, if a Substitute Teacher, Family Advocate (FA), Education Quality Monitor, and/or other staff are not available to cover absences and follows all Lead Teacher responsibilities as outlined in the job description.

Reports any staff discipline situations appropriately and according to Program Policy. Ensures office and cabinets are kept orderly, cleaned, and locked as required. Follows Agency Policies and Procedures, Head Start Performance Standards and

licensing rules and regulations, including dealing with accidents and exposure to blood-borne pathogens.

Conducts, attends, and participates in staff meetings/trainings as required by licensing regulations.

Maintains confidentiality and behaves ethically with children, parents, volunteers, staff, and community representatives according to Agency’s Rules of Conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Career Development Specialist: Must possess AA degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or relevant field

Minimum qualifications for position include passing a physical, TB screening, background check and a pre-hire drug screening prior to employment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

This is an instructional position performed under the immediate direction of the Education Coordinator. Duties involve planning, coordinating, and executing a program of instruction for an assigned group of preschool children, which could include children with disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

An AA degree in Early Childhood Education or a related degree is required. A current physical, TB skin test or chest X-Ray, drug test, and background ck are required prior to working with children.
