1. This week we are continuing to look at negative numbers. Another example of how these are used in ‘real life’ is looking at temperatures.

Please look at the text book page below and complete Q1-6. Question 7 asks you to start at -1 degree and work out the temperature of the other places from there. For example – Copenhagen is 3 degrees lower than -1. Work out the temperatures for the rest of the cities.

2. Use the internet and write a weather report about different temperatures around the world for yesterday.

3. Look at the word problem below. a) What maths will you need to solve the problem? b) What is the answer to the problem?

Jenna’s house had a temperature of 12°C. She put the heating on and the temperature rose by 8.4°C. As she was still cold, Reece decided to light a fire which increased the temperature by a further 13.8°C. What was the temperature in the house now?

4. Look at the receipt below for my weekly shopping trip. This week I have given you the total but missed out the price of one of the items
