God has gifted nurses with the ability to care for the wounded to bring them closer to wholeness. It matters that we ponder where healing comes from, because Jesus says, “your faith has healed you.” (Matthew 5:34) So how does our faith heal us? The author and perfector of our faith is Jesus Christ. Do you know Jesus intimately, as the One who has given you the gift of faith? A close friend had the faith once to say: “If you believe, Jesus will heal you.” As we know, healing has its nuances. Often, we experience physical healing, as from a cold while we wait it out, through surgery, through medication, as a result of treatments,... There is also emotional healing, as you process difficult situations and relationships throughout your life. The most important form of healing, however, is spiritual- that moment when you say “yes” to Jesus, when you ask Him to be the Master of your life and your Savior from eternal death. Spiritual healing can also be that moment when you return to Jesus Christ after going your own way for a while. “If you believe, Jesus will heal you.” The statement still echoes in my mind because of the faith with which she declared this biblical teaching of Jesus. So how does our faith heal us?

“Healed”

Where does healing come from?God has certainly gifted doctors with the ability to analyze our symptoms and prescribe medication or home remedies. God has gifted scientists to craft these medications.God has gifted nurses with the ability to care for the wounded to bring them closer to wholeness. It matters that we ponder where healing comes from, because Jesus says, “your faith has healed you.” (Matthew 5:34)

So how does our faith heal us?The author and perfector of our faith is Jesus Christ.Do you know Jesus intimately, as the One who has given you the gift of faith?

So how does our faith heal us?The author and perfector of our faith is Jesus Christ.Do you know Jesus intimately, as the One who has given you the gift of faith? If you believe in Jesus as your Master and Savior, you have the gift of faith.Your faith will heal you- according to the loving sovereignty of God.Whether physical or emotional healing comes in the present is not our choice, but if we are spiritually healed, we will experience total healing that day when we have moved from our earthly constraints and find ourselves in boundless joy and freedom, face-to-face with Jesus.

“If you believe, Jesus will heal you.”What words do you need to take in that would increase your faith or lead you to have faith in Jesus perhaps for the first time?

1) Accept that God’s motives are always pure love for you and all others.1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 5 who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. (Psalm 103:1-5, NRSV)

2) Feed your spirit with God’s joy and peace as you ponder His Presence in nature. For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall burst into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. (Isaiah 55:12, NRSV)

3) Record all the times God has been your Help in struggles of varying types.1 I lift up my eyes to the hills— from where will my help come? 2 My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. 4 He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. 5 The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. 7 The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. 8 The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. (Psalm 121, NRSV)

“If you believe, Jesus will heal you.” In Jesus’s Hands,Right With You,

Sister Vanessa Mitchell

difficult to follow music from cd’s, therefore, the board agreed they would not be used. Lynette sent Martha a list of “contemporary” songs that could be used, a number of which are found in our hymnal. Bettie indicated that the music license has increased from $137 to $335. Rev. Vanessa will ask Lynette if she is using all services indicated in the new charges. A copy was given to Rev. Vanessa and one will be sent to Lynette.

Building Repairs Summary presented and explained by Lamar UrbanovskyMembers present were given two handouts: CBC Repairs Accomplished & Cost Summary 2018-2020 and Summary of Final Cost CBC Repairs 2018-2020. Stained glass left over from window repair is stored in the attic; left-over carpet squares can be found in the balcony. The recent repair to air-conditioning work which wasn’t due to the storm damage involved replacing outside wiring which had to be dug and replaced. Leo Maresh and Lamar dug the trench to lay new wiring at a savings to the church. The one outside AC unit damaged by the storm has money allocated for the purpose of replacing the unit (see handout). Other units will need replacing in the future.Connie and Leo Maresh indicated that 4 windows are cracked possibly due leveling the Fellowship Building. The glass won’t be replaced until the crack runs across the pane.

o Future work: large cracks and a dropping in the concrete sidewalks need repairing due to posing walking hazards. A concrete ramp is needed to replace the wooden one leading into the Fellowship Building. Resealing needs to be done around the base of the church. All of this work will cost approximately $10,000. A motion was made by Anna Wotipka to have Lamar organize these repairs; Robin Dickey seconded the motion; the motion passed.

Our Sister Vanessa Mitchell recently had to say goodbye to her beloved Mother, Giselle Morales. Such a sweet, gentle spirit! Our hearts ache for Vanessa and her family. Giselle’s struggles have ended and she is now with her Lord and Savior.

Our Church Family considered it a blessing to have become friends with Giselle when she came to Texas to visit.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to the Morales Family, relatives and friends knowing that Giselle will be greatly missed.
