English Re-read ‘Beth and the Nile, Chapter 5’ and answer questions from ‘Reading Comprehension Tuesday’ in your green exercise book.Read ‘The Story of Tutankhamun’ p.9-13 and reflect: What is the difference between fact and opinion? Facts can be proven - in this case with historical evidence- whereas an opinion expresses a belief or a suggestion. For instance, Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh - is a fact. While, Perhaps Tutankhamun was a handsome man - is and opinion, as not everybody might agree with it. Can you give an example of a fact and opinion? Look at ‘Fact or Opinion’ and sort out the statements from the extract into a fact and an opinion. How did Tutankhamun die? Watch this video

to find out more about the hypothesis (possible reason) of Tutankhamun’s death. Now, read all the evidence from ‘Murder, Accident or Illness’. According to you, which one is the

most likely cause of Tutankhamun’s death? Support your answer with evidence from the document. Write minimum 5 sentences and explain your reasons using the following conjunctions: because, therefore, hence, due to the fact, as, since, as a result. For instance: I believe that Tutankhamun died following an accident, due to the fact that his chest cavity was caved in close to his time of death. I suggest that Tutankhamun died due to an illness, since he could have suffered from inherited genetic disorders. An X-ray carried out in 1968 revealed that Pharaoh’ s skull had a loose bone fragment and he could have suffered from a head blow, therefore I think that he was murdered.Make sure you use 1st person and formal language. Edit your sentences and make them sound very scientific. On Thursday, you will write and interview and will be answering questions, in role as an Egyptologist, explaining your opinion on Tutankhamun’s death.

RE: Read ‘The Teaching of the Apostles’. Imagine you have been chosen to prepare to be an apostle. To begin, study some of the teachings of the Apostles from p.2. Select the teaching you want to make known. Plan: How will you make it known? On TV, YouTube? To whom will you make it known? Will you work alone or with someone else? What resources will you need? Quote the teaching which you are going to make known. Explain it in your own words. Give examples to show how you would put it into practice. How the teachings of the Apostles help you in life? Write a prayer about it.

Foundation Subjects:Ancient Egypt

Reflect: Click here to read the Ancient Egyptian creation story. What sort of story is this? What are creation stories? They explain how the Earth and all living things were created. Do you know any other creation stories? Understand: Now, read ‘The Birth of the Sun God’. Which version of the Ancient Egyptian story did you like the best? Why? What differences are there in these two stories? What is the same in both stories? Both stories are based on really old myths that the Ancient Egyptians believed. They were passed on orally as well as being shown in tomb paintings and on papyruses and details were changed over the retelling. Even amongst the Ancient Egyptians there were variations in the story. At different times during the Ancient Egyptian civilisation different gods were worshipped as the main god, and the versions varied depending on this too. Sometimes Hapi/Hapy (the River Nile) is described as the fifth child of Re/Atum.Look at images in the ‘ Ancient Egyptian Creation Images ’ – can you identify the various gods/goddesses on the paintings? Challenge: Look at the ‘Short Version of the Creation Story’. Can you create your own version of the flow chart/family tree to show the creation story (check the example in

Page 4: €¦  · Web view2020. 6. 14. · is an animal that feeds on both plants and animals. Think of 3 examples to go for each of the words. Human and animal diets partly depend upon

‘Flow Chart Example’ on page 3)? Annotate the diagram with further details about the gods (click here to find more details on The British Museum website). You can also draw images of the various gods/goddesses to illustrate the diagram, again check the gods in ‘Flow Chart Example’.

Animals Including Humans

Reflect: What different types of teeth do you know? What are their jobs?Did you know that many animals have similar digestive systems to humans? Different animals have different sorts of diets though. Look at these 3 words: carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. Do you know the meaning of these words? Find them in a dictionary. Write the definitions under each word. Now compare with my definitions.Carnivore is a meat and fish-eating animal. Herbivore is an animal that feeds on plants (including plant products such as nuts, berries, grains and cereals). Omnivore is an animal that feeds on both plants and animals. Think of 3 examples to go for each of the words. Human and animal diets partly depend upon what is available. Humans in other parts of the world eat different fruits, vegetables and animals than in the UK because different plants and animals thrive in that particular climate and terrain, e.g. Inuit eat seals, Peruvians eat guinea pigs, Japanese people eat a lot of seaweed. Can you think of other examples? Do you like trying different foods if you go on holiday to another country? Animals have slight adaptations to parts of their digestive system depending on their diet.Challenge: Look at ‘Comparing Animal Teeth’ and answer the questions in the document. Are there any types of teeth that all three have in common? Why do they have these in common? Whether an animal is meant to be a carnivore, herbivore or an omnivore will determine what their teeth will be like. We are meant to be omnivores so our teeth will need to be able to rip flesh and cut plants. A big cat will need use their teeth to hold on to their prey and then to rip the flesh from the bones. They have molars but hardly chew their food, instead they bite it into smaller chunks and swallow it. You can also watch this video to find out more about animal’s teeth.
