Story starter! She pulled down on the chain with her left hand, steering herself towards her target. It was supposed to be the most exciting birthday present ever; a hot air balloon ride. However, Alice had been hanging on for dear life for over 100KM (since the basket of the hot air balloon had fallen off). She was now getting used to steering the huge balloon by manoeuvring her body, leaning to the left or to the right.

Continue the story about Alice and the hot air balloon in the same style. Remember to use quality adjectives and verbs, write in paragraphs and vary how you start your sentences.

And / or create your own story from the start but you need to make it link to the picture.

Sentence challenge!Write three sentences which include words that show an apostrophe for omission?

E.g. The frail, old lady couldn’t see the magnificent hot air balloon weaving gently amongst the cotton wool clouds.

cannot = can’t The apostrophe shows where there are missing letters.

I have = I’ve

he will= he’ll

she is= she’s

we have= we’ve

will not = won’t

Sick sentences! These sentences are ‘sick’ and need help to get better. Write out the sentences so that they flow better and connect to each other?

Alice held on to the chains. She looked down. The trees below were small. She was scared.
