French Contract Bonjour étudiants et parents !
During the past semester we have been actively involved in learning all things French. Students have achieved a lot so far.
This semester, the focus of assessment and class work will be based around this booklet. The booklet is structured so that both students and parents have a clear picture of what is required to do well in French this semester.
Below is some information to help ensure students get the most out of their language studies. We ask that both parents and students sign the spaces provided below to indicate that they have read and understood what is expected this semester.
Throughout the French studies we try to put an equal, strong emphasis on the development of all four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) in a way that meets the needs of all language learners and their learning styles. Activities are varied, so that students have the opportunity to work individually, in partners, in small groups, and as a whole class.
In order to do well in this unit of work a student will:• participate actively in class• spend at least 10 minutes 3 days per week practising French (the resources on the class website
and in this booklet can be used for this study)• work cooperatively with their peers in both partner and small group work• work cooperatively with others in the class while answering questions, both orally and in
written form• learn and practise the vocabulary covered in class• participate in songs, dances, and games with enthusiasm• complete class work and hand it in on time• seek help and feedback when needed
• take responsibility for their learning and have a proactive approach

This booklet contains exercises and activities that have been designed to guide your learning of the French vocabulary and grammar relevant to the two topics we will be studying this term.
The tasks are divided into six groups, indicated by colour;
Basic
Intermediate
Advanced
You must attempt tasks with a total value of 150 marks.
ALL work will be assessed
Tasks indicated by are compulsory.
Your final grade will be determined on on the basis of the number of tasks attempted, their difficulty and the quality of completed work.
NOTE: If you do not attempt any advanced tasks (green & blue) you will not be able to achieve an “A”.

Task 2 – Set up your Quizlet Account
1. Click ‘signup’ – Use your school username and password so you don’t forget these2. Click ‘create set’ at the top of the page3. Name your set ‘Numbers 1-20’4. Add in the Numbers 1-20 with the French translation in the right column5. Save your set6. Click on this set to view options such as Print, Games, Quiz etc.
This is where you can add sets for all of the new vocabulary and grammar this term. This will then easily let you save these as PDF’s in your French folder, print a glossary and flashcards and practise on the site.
Task 3 – Set up your Weebly Website
1. Go to www.students.weebly.com2. Login using the following:
Username: surname and first initial then 2017 all as one word e.g. paule2017Password: mdcc2017 (you will be able to change your password later)
3. Use the tabs at the top to create your individual page
This will be a space for you to upload work when directed by your Teacher
Task 4 – Create a folder in your student drive
1. Go to your student drive2. Create a ‘new folder’ called ‘French Booklet – Semester 2’
This is where you will save all of your work in Term 3 and 4 – Always use the activity title when saving
