PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Dear Students, Parents and Friends: It is with much excitement that I welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year at Miami Coral Park Senior High School. I am delighted to inform you that our school will be transitioning into a 4 x 4 Block Schedule for the 2016-2017 school year. This means that you will have four 90 minute classes per day instead of three 120 minute classes. You will be able to take additional electives and still have room in your schedule for remediation, enrichment and/or acceleration.
Miami Coral Park Senior High School prides itself in providing a challenging and diverse range of academic programs for our students. We are committed to advancing student achievement, academic rigor, and student accountability across the curriculum. As a result, our school grade recently increased from a “C” to a “B”. Our academic prestige has paved the way for our graduates to be accepted into the finest universities and post-secondary programs with numerous opportunities for scholarships.
To take full advantage of all our school has to offer, students need to arrive on time and be in attendance every day. As in the past, Miami Coral Park Senior High School is also a "Mandatory Uniform" school. As such, school leadership enforces the School Board approved mandatory uniform policy which requires students to wear an authorized school uniform. Additionally, parents and students are advised that the use of electronic devices during the instructional day other than when specifically asked by a teacher to utilize it, is strictly prohibited as per School Board rule.
Miami Coral Park Senior High School's legendary motto "Right Attitude Means Success!" dates back almost fifty years to the founding of our school. As a high performing school, our tradition and goal is to enable all "RAMS" to achieve their full potential and become responsible, competitive, and productive adults upon completion of their four-year high school education.
With a positive attitude, each and every Miami Coral Park Senior High School student will be academically and socially enriched throughout their high school experience. I am proud to celebrate our school's rich legacy and accomplishments and look forward to providing you a very productive 2016-2017 school year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Alicia Hidalgo, Principal Miami Coral Park Senior High School

SUBJECT SELECTION PROCESS
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students, The purpose of the Curriculum Bulletin is to assist the student in planning for their yearly course of study. Keep in mind, as a whole, high school is meant to prepare the student for their postsecondary plan and/or future goals. These programs are for students who plan to continue their education at a postsecondary institution as well as for those who will join the workforce upon graduation. Please review the Bulletin, discuss the choices with your family and teachers, and remember it is important to select your electives in a consecutive order to maximize productivity.
Read the entire MDCPS Curriculum Bulletin and Miami Coral Park course offerings @ mcpshs.net
Know the requirements for your year of graduation. Make a four-year plan. What courses do you need to take in the 9, 10, 11 and 12 grades? Use the Subject Selection Worksheet provided to you by the Student Services Department. Acquire the approval of a teacher or Department Chairperson when signatures are required. Sign up for eight subjects. Intensive Reading and/or Mathematics elective will be assigned to
students based on the FSA and/or End of Course (EOC) exam results. Select five (5) ELECTIVE SUBJECTS. Put them in order of preference. If your first choice is
closed, you will be scheduled into your second choice, and so on.
Note that all semester courses are paired with other semester courses. You will be required to take both semester courses as an annual block.
Work with your counselor to complete your worksheet if you need assistance.
