One-third of Tacoma's garbage is

food and yard waste.

www.cityoftacoma.org/solidwaste

Reducing the amount of food/yard waste you throw away may mean that you can downsize your garbage container-- and that can save you money.

Whether you are a Tacoma resident or a business, you can help reduce the amount of trash going to the landfill by using the City’s food and yard waste service. The collected material is then composted at a local composting facility.

Sign up for food/yard waste services by calling Solid Waste at (253) 502-2100.

Did you know...Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the world. 1 in 3 cigarette butts end up as litter. Cigarette butts seep toxic chemicals into our environment within hours of contact with water; the toxins released from one cigarette butt left in one gallon of water for one day will kill 80% of aquatic life added to that water. Cigarette litter can linger in the environment for as much as 25 years.

Be a responsible smoker- Trash the butts!
