Eligible Area and Assistance Providers
All parts of the State are eligible. Every county, village, town
and neighborhood is served by a local Weatherizat ion Ass istance
Provider.
Weatherization Assistance Providers are not-for-profit
organizations which receive funds from DHCR to provide
weatherization ass istance services toeligible New York State
residents
Weatherization Assistance Providers perform an energy audit of
the home or apartment to identify specific measures to increase
energy efficiency.Based on the results of the energy audit, they
may provide some or all of the following services: weatherstripping
and caulking around doors andwindows; cleaning, testing, repairs,
or replacement of heating systems; replacement or repair of storm
windows; replacement or repair of brokenwindows and/or outside
doors; addition of insulation to walls or ceilings; and, mitigation
of health and safety concerns, including indoor air
qualityimprovements, correction of ventilation problems that can
lead to mold growth, and identification of lead paint hazards.
Additional services may also include other energy-related
improvements such as: water heater repair/replacement, roof
repair/replacement, chimneyrepairs, lighting fixture replacement,
venting systems, heating distribution system replacement,
refrigerator replacement, installation of GFIC outlets,
