• Weather is what the air is like at a certain time and place.

What is the atmosphere?

• The atmosphere is a blanket of gases and tiny bits of dust that

surround the Earth.

What is precipitation?

• Precipitation is water that falls to the ground from the atmosphere as rain, snow, sleet, or hail.

How do we predict weather?

Scientists use special tools to gather data. The data they

collect is used to predict future weather.
