In order to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion or Confirmation here at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, ALL sacramental candidates, regardless if they are students in Catholic School, students in parish Faith Formation program or are home schooled must register annually with the Faith Formation Director and in accordance with Diocesan guidelines, they must be registered in our Faith Formation program for at least two years prior to the reception of these sacraments. Weekly attendance at Mass is required. *First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are typically received by children in the 2nd grade. Confirmation is typically celebrated in 8th or 9th grade.

MONTHLY YOUTH RETREAT All parishioners in grades 8-12 are warmly invited to the Our Lady of Lourdes Monthly Youth Retreat! Since 2014, our youth have gathered for fun, fellowship, and encouragement in their Christian faith. Our goal is to give young people a deeper understanding of the love of God and the beauty of his Church. Our usual schedule is to meet in the Multi-Purpose room at 3 p.m. on the 3rd Saturday of the month. After group study and snacks, we worship together at the 5 pm Mass. Then we eat dinner and participate in a fun activity, such as laser tag, bowling, paintball, and more. There is no cost to the participant, but we encourage donations to Our Lady of Lourdes. The Holy Trinity During this Faith Formation year which ended in early May, we asked our Confirmation 2nd Year students to fulfill their retreat obligation at home due to COVID-19 pandemic, by watching a series of videos (NEVER ALONE: LIFE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT) from our parish subscription to the Formed website(www.formed.org). The Formed website sponsored by the Augustine Institute has a tremendous amount of Catholic Catechetical films and audio tapes for all ages both in English and Spanish and the use of this website is free to any parishioner of Our Lady Of Lourdes. To sign into the website:� Go to www.formed.org � Click “Sign up”� Provide your email address � Click on the option “I belong to a parish/organization” � Enter OLL zip code: 28112 and select Our Lady of Lourdes and follow directions and see all the various options you have in viewing films or listening to audio tapes about our Catholic Faith. Getting back to the Confirmation retreat – once the students watched the video series, we asked them to answer some questions about the films. One of the questions was: How would you explain the Trinity? You would not believe some of the answers we received but for the most part, the students answered correctly, the Holy Trinity is: Three persons in one God: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Holy Trinity is a foundational doctrine of our Catholic Christian Faith. Jesus told His Apostles at His Ascension to: Go teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Theologians have described the Trinity as being a community of Persons so in love – that the Holy Spirit manifests the love between the Father and the Son. These three Persons share equally in divinity – God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Many students and others in the parish have asked which Divine Per-son they should pray to. My answer is always who you feel the clos-est to. Or, depending upon what the content of your payers are. For example: I would pray to the Father in praise and for thanksgiving and the Son, Jesus Christ for healing of an illness, and the Holy Spirit for strength and help in facing difficulties. We can pray to any of the Divine Per-sons of the Holy Trinity for any situation we can think of as they are all part of the One Godhead. That is the biggest mystery of our Faith, three persons in one God. Yet scripture is clear on there being One God who has mani-fested Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! We will never solve the mystery while living out our time on earth, but hopefully in eternity, outside of time, we will come to know the inner workings of God, the perfect love of God, and the joy of loving God in return for His never-ending love for us.

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
Dt 4:32-34, 39-40
Moses said to the people: "Ask now of the days of old, before your time, ever since God created man upon the earth; ask from one end of the sky to the other: Did anything so great ever happen before? Was it ever heard of? Did a people ever hear the voice of God speaking from the midst of fire, as you did, and live? Or did any god venture to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by testings, by signs and wonders, by war, with strong hand and outstretched arm, and by great terrors, all of which the LORD, your God, did for you in Egypt before your very eyes? This is why you must now know, and fix in your heart, that the LORD is God in the heavens above and on earth below, and that there is no other. You must keep his statutes and commandments that I enjoin on you today, that you and your children after you may prosper, and that you may have long life on the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you forever." Rom 8:14-17
Brothers and sisters: For those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received a Spirit of adoption, through whom we cry, “Abba, Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him. Mt 28:16-20
The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them. When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

En aquellos días, habló Moisés al pueblo y le dijo: “Pregunta a los tiempos pasados, investiga desde el día en que Dios creó al hombre sobre la tierra. ¿Hubo jamás, desde un extremo al otro del cielo, una cosa tan grande como ésta? ¿Se oyó algo semejante? ¿Qué pueblo ha oído sin perecer, que Dios le hable desde el fuego, como tú lo has oído? ¿Hubo algún dios que haya ido a buscarse un pueblo en medio de otro pueblo, a fuerza de pruebas, de milagros y de guerras, con mano fuerte y brazo poderoso? ¿Hubo acaso hechos tan grandes como los que, ante sus propios ojos, hizo por ustedes en Egipto el Señor su Dios? Reconoce, pues, y graba hoy en tu corazón que el Señor es el Dios del cielo y de la tierra y que no hay otro. Cumple sus leyes y mandamientos, que yo te prescribo hoy, para que seas feliz tú y tu descendencia, y para que vi vas muchos años en la tierra que el Señor, tu Dios, te da para siempre’’. Hermanos: Los que se dejan guiar por el Espíritu de Dios, ésos son hijos de Dios.
