Timetable and Activity Suggestions
Reception Parents and Carers
We want to help parents by giving you a rough timetable of activities and learning
opportunities you can use at home. The aim is to keep children on track (as much as
possible) and to help them to not fall behind in their learning during this tricky time.
Below is a timetable which outlines activities which can be done every day to ensure your child continues to make progress.
You will be using Bug Club, Purple Mash and the Interactive Learning Diary (ILD). If you do not have the login in details for these
programmes, please email school on [email protected] and someone will be able to provide the correct
details for you.
If you have any questions or need support or advice, please let us know and we are more than happy to help!
Remember to email some photos of your learning to [email protected]

Speaking and Listening
Choose an appropriate photograph- get the children to ask questions using I wonder… e.g ‘I wonder where that person lives? I wonder where that person is going? I wonder what that person is thinking? I wonder why they are dressed like that? I wonder how they are feeling?’ You can have a discussion about a photograph each day whilst sitting with a drink of water. We do this in class to promote discussions and drinking! Listen to a daily story by David Walliams Listen to a daily story by Oliver Jeffers (on his facebook page)

Writing Write a story about your favourite dinosaur, you could use inspiration from Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs.
- Say your sentence before writing - Sound out words using Fred fingers - Use finger spaces between each word - Each sentence to have a capital letter and a full
stop.
Challenges - Start your story with ‘One day’ or ‘Once upon a
time’ - Use and or because in your sentence. - Write 3 or 4 sentences.
One Day there was a boy Harry. He found dinosaurs and put them in a bucket. Harry went out with Mum and went on a train. Harry lost his dinosaurs. He found them. Harry held his bucket tight on the way home. The End Remember spellings do not need to be correct, encourage children to sound out words and write the sounds they hear. This needs to be the children’s work so please encourage them to do this independently.
