CHCF MISSIONThe Committee for Hispanic Children and Families, Inc (CHCF) combines education and advocacy to expand opportunities for children and families, and strengthen the voice of the Latino community.

LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENTMy greetings are especially heartfelt as I invite you to review our accomplishments presented in this Annual Report. Fiscal Year 2013-2014 was my last full year as President and CEO of CHCF, Inc. After 33 years of working to advance issues that improve opportunities for Latinos in New York City, I have decided to retire.

I would like to thank the members of CHCF’s Board of Directors, in particular during this time of transition. It’s an active and involved board, one that’s been in charge of searching for a new president -- a president that will

carry on the same standard of work and quality of services CHCF has provided thus far.

In order to assure our clients, our supporters, and ourselves that CHCF is reaching and serving the Latino community in the best way possible, this past year we have focused on increasing our capacity to measure the impact of our programs, and to collect data that will help us streamline reporting and enhance our policy and advocacy initiatives.

Of the many successful programs and services we provided, I am especially pleased about the partnership with NYU Steinhardt CHCF entered into this year. We implemented measures of social and emotional learning in CHCF’s after school programs, an initiative that will continue each year as a way to inform program design and improvements. CHCF also initiated what will be an ongoing collaboration with Educational Testing Service (ETS) to conduct gap analyses of early education programs and other potential projects focusing on  early childhood development and English Language Learners (ELLs) in public school settings. CHCF implemented an agency-wide database that will be used to collect, analyze and report on data.

I am leaving behind a very talented staff that is dedicated to being the best at what they do. Their commitment to the wellbeing of all children and families will carry CHCF well into the future, continuing to be the source of information, education and advocacy for Latino families in New York through its youth development, early education and policy programs that are models for other communities across the country.

Thank you to all of you – foundations, corporations and individuals alike – who have helped CHCF make the lives of children and their families better.
