Fire Prevention Week

On October 6, 2021, a firefighter from Stratford Hollow came to our school, Stratford Public School, to go over a fire truck, and what the tools do. He explained that if there is a fire in your home, you may only have two minutes to get out. You should know two ways out of every room, and have a meeting spot a good distance away from your house, like your mailbox or your neighbor’s driveway. There is a tool called the Jaws Of Life, and it is an apparatus used to save a trapped person in a vehicle. There are lights on the side of the truck, and the lights are usually bright enough to light up an entire football stadium. There are different

types of fire trucks, some of which are: Conventional fire trucks are the standard fire trucks which are mainly used for firefighting purposes. Turntable ladder trucks have a ladder on top, which is used to reach areas at quite a height. Quints are one of the misunderstood fire trucks, it carries out five features. Two of the features are a pump on it, and the other one is a ladder. Firefighters wear equipment to help protect them from fires. The equipment they wear are pants, boots, coats, a mask, and a helmet. They have O2 tanks they wear with their suits. They wear it like a backpack. Remember, if you are stuck in a fire, and you see something crawling toward you, do not run. It is a firefighter here to rescue you.

Fun Things To Do On Halloween

Halloween is a really fun time because you

dress up, you go trick or treating, and you eat

your candy, but there are more fun things you

can do on Halloween. The first other fun

thing you can do on Halloween is bake treats

with your friends/parents. Another fun thing

to do on Halloween is doing arts and crafts.

You can really do anything on Halloween but

also have fun. Another thing you can do on

Halloween is go explore an actual haunted

house.

There are so many Halloween movies out

there and I know not everybody likes

Halloween movies. Some people like

Halloween movies. I personally love

Halloween movies. I think a good Halloween

movie should have a main character as a

killer. A couple of my favorite Halloween

movies are Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday

The 13th, and just the movie Halloween. I

know These movies are not the most popular

but some of them are pretty popular. A

Halloween movie that a lot of people like to

watch is Hocus Pocus, and Nightmare before

Christmas. Now I'm going to tell you a little

bit about all these amazing movies. The 1st

movie I'm going to tell you about is

Nightmare on Elm Street. The main character

is Freddy Krueger he is a man that has gloves

that have knives on them. Freddy went around

on Halloween night and scared people and

killed them. Next I'm going to tell you about

Friday The 13th This movie came out in 2009.

It was a slasher film. It was directed by

Marcus Nispel.The 3rd movie I'm going to

talk about is the release date of this movie is

October 15 2021 so it's a pretty new movie.

The director for this movie is David Gordan

Green. Another movie is Hocus Pocus the

release date is July 16, 1993.The movie was

by David Kirschner Mick Garris.That is a lot

about all those movies, There are so many

facts about these movies. Some Halloween

movies are horror some a kid shows but all

The Curse of Brunswick

Springs

Brunswick Springs

has six outlets, each

of which are said to

have different

minerals.

Magnesium, calcium,

sulfur, bromide, iron,

and arsenic. This has

invited much

business development

there. The Curse of

Brunswick Springs

started in the French

and Indian War.

According to the

legend, which was in

1748, the Abenaki

brought a wounded

French soldier to

Brunswick springs to

heal him. After the

war was over, he

went to bottle and sell

the water. The

Abenaki residents

were horrified that he

would attempt to seek

a profit from the

healing water. A

violent conflict

ensued, and a father

and child were killed.

The mother of the

child, stricken with

grief, cursed the

springs so anyone

who tries to make a

profit off of it will

fail. People believe

the curse still holds

sway because a series

of suicides and

accidents have

happened

presence. Then one night… “Come here Julie!” said Shylee. “Please no!” said Julie.

It was too late. Shylee was already gone into St. Willow woods. “Well it's true. That was so crazy!” Said Julie. The next day, a new girl named Aylee came to school. She was, well, shy. Then Shylee started playing with Aylee and not Julie. The next week, Shylee had invited Aylee over, not Julie or any other of her friends. Julie really hated this new friendship between Shylee and Aylee. She hated it so bad, so she did not invite Shylee to her birthday party. Shylee was having fun with Aylee so she was too busy to attend anyways. Julie on the other hand was bored out of her skull. Normally Shylee made up lots of games to play at Julie's party. Night was upon the two old friends. At that exact moment, Julie heard an odd noise. CLUNK! CLING! Tinggg! Julie was petrified with fear. She ran in the door

and slammed it shut tight. “Julie?” called Julie's mom who was baking cookies. “Yes mom?” asked Julie. “Your dad would like to see you.” Julie went to find her dad. “There's my little Julie!” said Julie's dad, who was busy sharpening pocket knives. “Are we going camping?” asked Julie. “Nope!” said her dad. She heard the door open and shut. “AVA!” cried Julie as she gave Ava a hug. Ava was Julie's sister “Uh mom?” “Yes dearie?” “Well, do you know if raccoons come to this area at night?” “No dear, I'm afraid not.”

“Oh sorry. Just wondering. That's ok”, says her mom. “Julie?” said Ava. “Do you want to come to Lana’s party with me?” “Ok, Sure!” said Julie. THE NEXT DAY... on Halloween … “Hello morning air!” said Ava as she awakened. “Julie!” said Ava. “Yes?” said Julie. “What are you doing?” “Oh, just cooking,” said Julie. A few minutes later… Boom! Crash! The mysterious

banging trash can was banging again and it scared Julie. Later… “To Lana’s we go!” “Yay!” said Ava. “Ava go! Run! You don't want to be late!” Said Julie. She looked into the woods and… “LEAVE!” said an odd voice. Julie trekked further into the woods. Then the eerie voice said, “I SAID, GET OUT!” As quickly as possible she ran out of the forest and tried to enter the gate to Lana's house. The gate was locked! Julie would have to climb. And fast! She saw a big shadow with ghostly fangs and it was moving fast! One by one, she grabbed the holes on the fence. When she reached the top, she leaped over some bushes. And the door was there! Finally! Safe at last. Well, she thought but really the monster was in a dress and thought he was disguised. He was looking for something. Like...her! Ingredients: Corn Syrup Bowl Red food colouring Blue food colouring Cornstarch Instructions

1. Add the corn syrup into a small size bowl

2. Add 4 drops of the red food colouring into the corn syrup

3. Add 2 drops of blue food colouring to the corn syrup

4. Mix it together

5. Keep adding food colouring until you get the colour you like

6. Add ½ a teaspoon of cornstarch a little at a time

7. Keep adding more corn syrup until you get to the desired thickness

8. Refrigerate for 5 minutes

Edible Blood Recipe

Ingredients: Corn flour Cherry Juice Glucose Syrup Red food colouring Blue food colouring Yellow food colouring Bowl Pot Instructions 1. Add the corn flour to the cherry juice 2. Mixed until well combined 3. Add the corn flour and cherry juice mixture into a pot 4. Add the glucose syrup 5. Put the pot on the stove 6. Put it on low heat 7. Mix it together until combined 8. Remove from heat 9. Add in 4 drops of red food colouring 10.Add in 2 drops of blue, and yellow food colouring 11.Keep adding the food colouring until you get your desired colour 12.Refrigerate

Perseus was the son

of Zeus; the lord of

the sky and son of

Danae the princess of

Argos. So he was

born when Danae’s

father went to the

oracle of Delphi to

see if he will ever

have a son and the

oracle said that his

daughter will have a

son and would

eventually kill him

and become king of

Argos. So when he

got home he put his

daughter in the

lowest dungeon and

locked her there so

that nobody would

marry her. Up on

Olympus Zeus

spotted Danae which

of course was

knockout beautiful so

Zeus went down as a

cloud of golden

glitter and announced

that he was Zeus and

9 months later

Perseus was born,

Danae’s father heard

crying of a baby and

went into the cell that

she and Perseus was

and found out that

Perseus means the

avenger or the

destroyer. After he

met the baby boy he

got a big wooden box

drilled holes on the

top and stuffed his

daughter and his

grandson in the Box

and nailed the lid on

then set them out to

sea. When they were

out there Zeus made

sardines slip through

the holes on the top

so that they had stuff

finally landed a

was a box full of gold

so he grabbed his

to see that there was a

woman and a child in

the box. So he led the

kindly let Danae live

at the palace but

Perseus had to

grow up at the

temple of Athena.

The king was always

trying to flirt with

Danae. When Perseus

was 17 the king

wanted to get rid of

Perseus so he made

people give presents

for the neighboring

Princess that was

getting married.

Everybody had

awesome presents but

Perseus had nothing

so the king asked him

to swear on the river

Styx that he would do

any trolling and get

anything for the

neighboring princess.

So Perseus did and

the king said bring

me the Head of

medusa. Perseus had

some help from some

gods known as

Athena and Hermes

and don’t forget his

father Zeus. They

gave him direction to

the lair and weapons

and tools. When he

got to the cave where

all the gorgons live

(Medusa and her two

siblings). When

Perseus got to the

cave of the three

Gorgons he saw

millions of people

that had turned to

stone and were trying

to kill medusa. They

all failed. Perseus

followed the trail of

statues and when he

started to hear hissing

of snakes he looked

in his really shiny

shield to look in the

reflection and saw

medusa sleeping at

the back of the cave

and her belly was

swollen. Medusa was

pregnant with

Poseidon's Offspring.

When Perseus was

getting ready to kill

Medusa the snakes in

her hair sensed that

there was a intruder

and then medusa

woke up and attacked

Perseus but before

medusa could get

there Perseus swung

his sword with his

eyes closed and cut

It started off as a great day. We were training at Mira HQ. I actually got picked to bring some supplies to Polus, a planet we just discovered. I needed to go on a transport bus after I finished training. I was super excited. I had just joined, so I had never actually been on the Skeld before. From what I heard, you go on a trip on the Skeld to Polus, do your tasks, drop off the cargo, come back, train some more, if you are new, and then repeat. I did hear though that wires keeping the lights on can become undone, or the radios might go dead. I even heard the reactor is nuclear powered. It even needed maintenance, and I was picked to help fix it! I was extra excited to see it. When I got on the transport bus, I noticed there were a bunch of people on it. Some of them were reading, some were playing games, some were sleeping, some were laying down,

guests ran upstairs, and saw Lana with her hand around Julie's neck. “Ahhhhh!” they said. They quickly ran out of the doors and windows. Julie ran to a window and jumped. Julie ran to her sister, Ava. Ava was staring off into space thinking about what had just happened. She was so dumbfounded that she didn't see Lana running towards her! Julie ran to her sister, grabbed a knife from the ground and bam! Ping! Lana was in a heap on the ground trying not to cry. She then saw Shylee with Aylee (who at the time was holding a bow n arrow.) “Hey, that's Julie with a werewolf!” “Remember the girl I was talking about earlier? This is her!” yelled Shylee. “Jules! Ya ok?” “Yea. Just a little… well surprised.” “Oh yeah about that… We were just target practicing. Sorry.” said Aylee. Then next thing you know it, they were out back telling the story to their grandkids on a hot summer day.

Marine Biologist

National World Smile Day

to include games to make people smile more. World Smile Day isn't really celebrated or is a world known thing. It's just celebrated for a day but isn't that much of a deal like Christmas etc. but this was celebrated for a long time just isn't counted as an actual holiday but some people celebrate it by playing games and trying to make people smile.

Marine biology is the scientific study of the biology of marine life, and organisms in the sea. Given that in biology many ranks below kingdom, families and genera have some species that live in the sea and others that live on land, marine biology classifies species based on the environment rather than on concerns. Coming from me, being a marine biologist sounds very fun. Being a marine biologist has strengths and some weaknesses. The weakness about being a marine biologist is actually getting a job in the field because there are other people wanting to be on the field other than you. The strength is that being a marine biologist not on the field is that you get to test and some stuff that the other marine biologist bring in but usually it is just watching and seeing what they do. Marine biologist make a lot of money depending

on what place you go to. The place that makes a lot of money is Honolulu, Hawaii. Twelve salaries are reported to be $90,409 per year and new marine biologist make $66,877 per year. That is a lot of money to make for a job and it is awesome. Marine biologists also work and help heal ocean animals. The mostly help get plastic out of the water and untangle some animals like turtles, seagulls, rarely dolphins and whale which is very difficult because they are harder to untie. Lastly marine biologist work in groups most of the time.
