Love God, Neighbor, Self. There are 613 Old Testament laws guiding

faithful behavior. The Exodus writer tells us some: do not molest or

oppress aliens, do not wrong widows and orphans, do to extort money

from the poor, do not, do not, do not. Jesus gives us a summary in two

laws (rooted in Deuteronomy 6:5 and Leviticus 19:18): (1) Love God

with everything you have and are and (2) Love the neighbor as your self.

What will I do to love a foreigner, an alien, someone not like me?

What will I do for someone who is poor, hungry, out of work?

What will I do?

Permanent Diaconate Formation Applications - The 2020 diaconate application has been extended. All men of the Diocese of

The pain and sorrow of a past abortion need not endure for a lifetime. Call Project Rachel for a confidential, non-judgmental referral

to those who can help: 1-877-RACHEL-5.

Thank you for your generous response to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith

last weekend on World Mission Sunday. Our parish raised $ 278.00. Some people are

called to go to serve in other countries to develop the Church and serve its people, but

all of us can pray and support the Missions from right here in the parish.

The Sacraments with Bishop Robert Barron - Confirmation The sacrament of Confirmation is often underappreciated. If Confession is fear, Confirmation is sometimes forgotten. Yet like all the sacraments, it too is an encounter with Christ. Through it the Lord confirms us with the gifts of his Holy Spirit, thus enabling us to do Christ’s work. Throughout the ages, the ascended Jesus sends the Spirit for the transformation of souls and the transfiguration of the world. The next session Confirmation, part of The Sacraments DVD series with Bishop Robert Barron, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 25, 6:30 pm at the Sacred Heart Parish Hall, Virden. In conjunction with the DVD series, we will explore the doctrines of each sacrament as beautifully defined in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

On October 28th the following students will have their First Reconciliation Josee Hart, Kadyn Joslin, Kaleb Joslin, Sean Starks, Colin Thoroman, and Katelyn Widner. Let’s say a prayer for

these young students.

Thanks to the St. Patrick’s Parish. For the cards, calls, flowers, visits and best wishes on my 100th birthday. Thanks, too, to Father James and Cindy Dorner for making me famous all through the land, and the Catholic Times. God blest me with a wonderful family. I will praise Him until my last breath. St. Patrick Church Hall Closure Due to coronavirus health and sanitation concerns, St. Patrick Church Hall will be closed until further notice. No events, including party rentals, funeral dinners, etc., will be allowed except weekly PSR classes on Wednesday evenings. In the case of funeral dinners, food will be provided to the family at their preferred location. We apologize for any inconvenience.

awhile, but he’s back. Welcome Fr. Freddie!
