WE MAKE RENEWABLE ENERGIES

COMPETITIVE!Spanner Re² GmbH is part of Spanner group, a strong and

successful consortium of innovative, medium-sized companies.

Castleton Fruit were one of the first businesses in the UK to install a Re2 Biomass CHP on their farm located in Laurencekirk, Scotland. They are one of Scotland’s largest commercial soft fruit growers producing premium, high quality strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and cherries. The infrastructure required to operate such a successful large scale fruit farm is vast and requires a considerable amount of heat and electricity.

Castleton Fruit were in need of a solution that met their ever increasing demand for heat and electricity while also lowering their annual energy costs. They installed 2 Re² Biomass CHP units initially and were so impressed with the results they added a third soon after. The heat produced by the Biomass CHP is used for all the farm buildings and the accommodation for their large workforce of 450 seasonal employees. The electricity produced is mainly

used by farm operations with a small percentage being exported to the grid.

The cost of electricity is significantly reduced and the demand for heat is now covered all year round. Castleton Fruit were particularly impressed with the unique automation and remote control feature of Re²’s Biomass CHPs making the operation of the units possible with a laptop or mobile device from any location where there is WiFi.

“We are delighted with our 3 Re² Biomass CHP units and would highly recommend them for their reliability and efficiency. The scalability of deployment means the units are suitable for many different types of business models.”Viorel Panait, Energy Manager, Castleton Fruit

advantages of running a Re² Biomass CHP in the UK. The plant is fully approved by Ofgem and combinations of subsidies are available. The electricity qualifies for ROC’s (Renewable Obligation Certificates), the heat qualifies for RHI (Renewable Heat Incentive).

Food products such as dairy, baked goods, cereals, beverages and confectionary

demand pumps that meet today’s hygiene standards and are able to handle products with care.

Peristaltic tube pumps are perfect for sanitary pumping of many foods and liquids. The gentle pumping action works well with shear sensitive products and products that offgas, such as when pumping yeast in brewing beer.

Clean in place (CIP) and sterilisation in place (SIP) are essential in the manufacture of food. Peristaltic pumps allow you to clean in line

without the need for further dismantling of the pump, saving time and reducing cost. There is no risk of bacterial growth in a tube pump

as the products is fully contained within the tube, nor are there are any dead spots where bacteria can accumulate.

The pumping action means the tube is swept fully and the pump can self-drain. Additionally, food grade tubing can be sterilized by all normal methods of sterilisation including radiation, steam and chemical solution allowing local confirmation of process sterility and with the easy to change tube the only contact part then routine sterilization costs are kept to a minimum.

These highly accurate tube pumps provide repeatable metering for flavourings, colourings

and additives. Accurate to ±0.5% they ensure the quality is always of the highest standard.

Panel mounted pumps for Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) are available to be used in manufacturer’s own equipment. These smaller pumps are ideal for vending machines and are easy to maintain with the option for fast tube changeover and multiple heads.

Measuring and estimating made simpleOfficially established in 2010,

QuickScale is an award winning programme designed for taking areas and measurements off pdf drawings. Simple, user friendly and competitively priced, the system was created for those who work from home with limited PC knowledge or with no access to IT departments.

It was originally invented for the needs of the building and construction industry, but, over the years has become extremely popular with ship building and marine insurance, event planning, CCTV and communications – any business that would calculate

areas and measurements from a pdf drawing or photograph.

In previous years, drawings were posted out to the subcontractor and measured with a scale rule. Today, drawings are emailed as a pdf and are not always to scale or don’t have

any scale at all. They have to be sent to a printer or 3rd party to have them printed to scale and this happens every time the drawings are revised or amended. With QuickScale, you simply open the pdf in QuickScale and click on the points and corners of the areas and dimensions to calculate them.

For more information on QuickScale and how it can benefit you, contact the company on: +44 (0)7791 550167, email: [email protected] or visit the website at: www.quickscale.co

Rungbuddy Limited has highlighted an accident black spot at the transition point on extension ladders, and with an OSHA report showing death has occurred at this point. Rungbuddy has patented a Safety Rung to widen the first single rung down, allowing a safer angle of descent. The foot gains over 100% more landing space at this transition point eliminating that ‘front of foot connection.’ For ladders of 350mm (13 ¾inch) and 452mm (18 inch) widths, a reverse screw clamp holds it securely in place, the toggle bar stays in one position, it does not protrude from the unit. As a plus, Rungbuddy Safety Rungs have the added ability of being used as a comfort platform, able to fit to any shaped rung on any ladder, even in various positions between stiles. A press button spring loaded Universal model is also now available, able to fit all ladders up to 482mm (19ins) wide.

Pest Control News Health & Safety NewsThe Leaders in Cable SafetyHealth and safety is the most important

aspect for any business, particularly when it comes to the building and construction industry, a manual segment whereby working environments are rife with potential hazards.

Trailing cables are a key example of this, as it is most apparent that these components are, in essence, an accident simply waiting to happen. Because of their low placement these cables are easy to fall over, and as slips and trips are one of the most common causes of injury in the workplace (accounting for, on average, 40% of all reported major incidents), the caution surrounding these objects has increased somewhat.

A solution is available in the form of a specialised support system strategically developed by cable safety expert Skyhook GB. Incorporating a unique design that is also patented, the Skyhook Cable Safety System can be easily attached to the majority of materials anywhere. Large loops enable employment on ceiling grids, joints, scaffold poles and doors, meaning they can be hung up neatly out of harm’s way, and with its two small holes, the

item can be easily attached to overhead fixings or wall fixings with a small screw.

An additionally useful feature is its unique offset – its somewhat twisted structure ensures seamless connection to a wall, and the cables can be fitted into place whilst the loops stand proud with high visibility. Although a simple piece of equipment, the product is effective in safeguarding workplaces against tripping hazards (caused by the positioning of trailing cables).

The Skyhook Cable Safety System has been verified by the Health and Safety Commission and has done exceedingly well ever since its release. Success has soared and the innovative tool has been purchased by more than 150 businesses throughout the UK and beyond – its customer base includes some of the biggest players in the construction sector.

Heritage Cob & Lime

The Experts in BrickmakingBoasting over a staggering 80 years of

brick making experience and excellence, the Bulmer Brick and Tile Company Ltd has been deservedly recognised by our team for achieving the coveted status as our Restoration Company of Choice.

The small yet successful family run business uses its expertise in the brickmaking specialism to provide dedicated building

restoration and rejuvenation services. Having completed projects of all sizes and complexities, the respectable specialists have the capability to conduct work on properties both large and small.

This extensive knowledge of building structures is the result of decades of industry involvement. The Bulmer Brick and Tile Company story began in 1936 when the Minter family invested in a brickyard near the Essex and Suffolk border and concentrated their activity on the manufacture of specialist bricks for the restoration of buildings after the war.

The business has been under three generations of Minter ownership and was most recently managed by Peter Minter. The progressive course the organisation took led to the broadening of its service offering over the years, which in turn attracted a large range of clients. The core focus, however, remained centred on its traditional method of brickmaking and it is this refined skill that has enabled the firm to become a widely appreciated and trusted solution provider.

Now recognised for its competency in producing bespoke bricks especially for

individual customer requirements, the Bulmer Brick and Tile Company produces an impressive number of 300,000 bricks on an annual basis and is proud to have served both large enterprises and small, private clients.

The group incorporate conventional techniques of brickmaking and have used the particular type of process that dates back to the Middle Ages ever since their foundation.

The bricks they produce are made from the finest quality London clays and have been developed using old-fashioned yet effective modes of making and drying. They are then fired in a coal burning, down draught kiln, as this enables a well-blended finish that is both distinctive and aesthetically attractive.

Because of its familiarity and understanding of this niche, the Bulmer Brick and Tile Company has the information and resources needed to supply suitably adjusted products and amenities to its many customers. Its all-encompassing range consists of facings and specials that can be designed with any texture to any size. There are more than 5,000 shapes available, and this includes everything from standard plinths, squints and copings to custom-made chimney bricks, terracotta, mullions, jambs, floor bricks, pamments, decorative plaques, garden edgings and rubbing blocks.

The highly skilled brickmaking specialists are proud to offer a personalised level of customer service and do their utmost to ensure every request is met as efficiently and professionally as possible. A consultative approach is employed to ensure the individual is kept fully supported and updated throughout the entire

process, and everything is addressed with careful consideration and attention to detail.

The need for restoration is continual – many historic buildings are positioned across the width and breadth of the UK, all of which need to be preserved and maintained in order to ensure ongoing function and admiration. Thousands of properties have been enhanced with Bulmer’s bespoke brickwork – find out how you can make a difference to the look of your building by contacting the company today.

T +44 (0)1787 [email protected]

Bulmer Brick and Tile Company is a long established family business on the site of a brick making yard dating back centuries. Bulmer bricks are made from the finest London Clays, dug continually from our own clay seams since Tudor times. All our bricks are entirely hand made using traditional methods. We specialise in restoration and conservation of old buildings; working closely with architects and contractors to produce our facing brick to the specification required for your particular building. Although we aim to have a stock of the more common sizes, dimensions and texture are made to order, so that each building receives the correct brick for the work. The kilns are unique coal fired down-draught kilns, loaded, unloaded and fired by hand in a long and labourious process, ensuring each and every brick has had our personal attention. No artificial colours, tints or dyes are used in our process. The beautiful range of colours from orange to dark red and purple comes purely from the firing process, just as it would have been over the centuries.

We make a huge variety of brick specials, including terracotta, plinths, squints, decorative chimney bricks, string course bricks and over 500 different types of coping which increases on a weekly basis. All the specials are moulded from wooden moulds, which are made in our own carpentry workshop.

We also have a range of garden edging and decorative plaques depicting floral patterns, some of which are made from original moulds over 100 years old.

We have our own brick cutting workshop where we can create cut and rubbed arches, either loose or on steel lintels ready to lift into position, and can cut specials or cut and bond from customer supplied material. Our own clay is prepared by a variety of methods to produce a BBT Fully Washed Rubber for use in fine Georgian Rubbed work and in other grades that can be easily cut and rubbed on site if required.

Martrust Ltd is an

office letting company based at the Riverside Business Park in Conwy with additional premises in Colwyn Bay and St. Asaph. Ever since its establishment 15 years ago it has been providing office space for rent, attracting both start-ups and large enterprises employing up to 30 people.

The site is home to a multitude of organisations and is currently occupied by – to name a few examples – professional service providers, IT & media specialists, scientists, consultants and representatives of the public sector. These businesses are attracted to the property not only for its great placement in North Wales but also because it boasts plenty of parking space (facilitating 80 cars) and is accessible on a 24 hour, 7 day week basis.

The offices vary from 88sq.ft. to 914sq.ft. and have excellent travel links because of their desirable location close to the A55 trunk road, which provides fast entry to the UK motorway network (and Ireland). Commuting is made easy as the mainline train station with London is just three hours away, and Liverpool and Manchester can be reached within the space of an hour. Airports in these areas are also straightforward to get to and the building is a mere five minutes away from the new Welsh Assembly Government regional offices at Llandudno junction.

“Partnering with Martrust is advantageous because we can offer customers extremely pleasant surroundings and dedicated internet and broadband services,” Jean Barlow, Manager of Martrust Ltd, told the editorial team at Industrial Solutions. “There is also the option for clients to use the conference room, which is available free of charge. In addition to this our offices are in an ideal location which allows for easy access to the whole of North Wales.”

The ultrafast broadband connection is one of the key benefits of Martrust’s office space. The group have invested heavily in the internet facilities at the complex and as a result all of the rooms are enabled with a fully functional leased line (fibre) broadband connection with 50MB downstream/50MB upstream.

This makes the technical side of operations simpler – connecting straight away means it isn’t necessary to wait around for a time-consuming installation from Openreach. Phones and broadband connections are set up the same way and are immediate, so you can get your team working as soon as possible and their resources running with great efficiency and minimal effort.

It’s fast rotation speed achieves sensational results in a fraction of the time normally taken by conventional sanders.

55 Years of Industry ExcellenceThe Flexidisc Sanding system has been sold in the UK

by DA & BE Murkin for almost 30 years, but it still remains one of the most versatile sanders on the market.

The Flexidisc is a system based on an exciting 5” (125mm) disc sander attachment which fits in your drill, and does not jump, skitter or scuff. This is due to a simple but highly efficient flexible shaft which eliminates vibration. It gives full control without the need for effort or expertise when presented full face to the job surface.

This system accomplishes fantastic finishes on all hard materials including wood, metal, glass, fibreglass and car body filler.

Fast rotation allows this quality process to be completed in a fraction of the time normally taken by conventional sanders. Although a generic sander in its basic form, the multi-purpose tool can convert within seconds to become a super-fine finishing sander, bench grinder, sharpener, partial angle grinder, polish applicator and polisher – all of this within a small device that can be carried conveniently in your pocket!

Flexidisc uses ‘slap-on peel-off’ Velcro type discs which are coated with a super-tough material called Corundum, (close to diamond for hardness). Re-usable and cleanable, these discs will do the work of at least 100 conventional discs and are able to comfortably cope with a wide range of materials from soft plaster to iron and steel, including slate, concrete and marble. In addition, they can transform a rough-sawn plank to a polished finish faster than any other conventional sander. Because these discs generate very little heat, they retard over-heating during grinding, therefore can safely sand G.R.P. and old paint without melting the material.

Using this same ‘slap-on’ system, polish is easily applied

over any size area, using the foam sponge, whilst an oversized re-washable polishing cap effortlessly completes the job. This means cars, boats and caravans can be polished, quickly and easily.

DA & BE Murkin are also the sole importers of Le Tonkinois Varnish.

This is an old fashioned varnish, manufactured the traditional way, using Linseed oil, Tung oil & natural resins.

Slower drying than modern varnishes it will not show any brushmarks and will sink into the timber. So remaining flexible, it will move with the timber and not crack or peel.

Le Tonkinois will give a beautiful, long lasting finish to all types of timber, including Teak & Oak.

Exceptional Quality, Affordable Prices

Want the look of a bespoke build for your marketing suite or community project, but need the speed,

convenience and value of pre-fabricated buildings? Then look no further.

You can’t beat the quality, completion time or the architectural appeal of using Losberger modular building systems. We offer architects, developers and designers excellent customisable rental solutions for marketing suites, community spaces and more.

Developers, designers and architects have to deal with a unique circumstance; selling extremely valuable products that don’t exist at the time of purchase, deals are often made on promises. Traditionally architects and developers either commission entirely bespoke builds; which is expensive and time consuming, or opt for basic cabins, cloaked to improve their aesthetic appeal, which rarely meets expectations and design criteria. Losberger provide the best of both worlds; the convenience and speed of modular pre-fabricated buildings, with the appeal and finish of a bespoke design.

Losberger modules are flexible enough to offer contemporary finishes, without the costs and time constraints associated with tailor-made builds. Losberger have been providing modular buildings solutions for almost 100 years, to provide developers with customisable solutions. Losberger’s expertise in this area enable us to deliver projects that are always on time and on budget.

Because of its extensive offering and great deal of expertise in its chosen niche, PTS has become one of Europe’s most significant suppliers of stainless steel industrial fastenings and precision turned parts. Its selection is incredibly far-reaching, and includes the following items: nuts, hexagons, shoulder screws, studs, self-drilling screws, retaining rings, drive bits, washers, machine screws, slotted grubscrews, knurled fasteners, woodscrews, screws for plastics, rivets, allied products, socket screws, security screws, pins, self-tapping screws, chipboard screws, pipe plugs and Bumax.

types available for customer convenience) and there is a screw modification service available handling everything from 1.6mm diameter fasteners (and upwards) to customer drawings and specifications. This is an advantageous activity in the respect that it can be a whole lot cheaper and faster than manufacturing new, and it is a particularly good way to save money if the item is question is of a relatively small quantity.

For Your Event Needs!

Making sure no-one gets left behind…

Although fires are rare events, the impact can be devastating. Anyone

with some level of responsibility for fire safety in non-domestic premises, new or old, will know the importance of carrying out a thorough fire risk assessment, in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. It is important to ensure that plans are put in place and steps taken to eliminate any risk – not only to the premises but to those staff and any visitors who may be within the facility at the time of an emergency.

One critical element to any such plan is how to safely evacuate a multi-storey building in the event of an emergency such as a fire, when lifts become inoperable. Anyone who may be within the building at the time of the evacuation must have a suitable ‘means of escape.’ This includes people with reduced or no mobility and individuals with underlying medical conditions, such as heart conditions or epilepsy which could be triggered as a result of heightened anxiety or exertion during an evacuation.

In many work-place environments any employee that could face issues safely exiting a building during an evacuation, should have their own ‘Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan.’ However, premises open to the public such as restaurants, shops and leisure centres, should have all eventualities considered and evacuation plans prepared.

Once, the fire risk assessments has been carried out, some decisions then have to be made about the type/s of equipment required, particularly with non-ambulant individuals in mind – then look no further…

Spectrum Healthcare UK Ltd are evacuation equipment specialists, offering a large selection of devices to suit all needs from evacuation chairs to evacuation sleds, with something suitable for everyone from premature babies to very large/bariatric individuals.

Like many farms, JS Baird & Sons use a considerable amount of electricity and also require a reliable source of heat. Based in Angus, Scotland, JS Baird & Sons operate a mixed farm including arable, organic sheep and cattle, chickens, organic hens and various renewable technologies.

Always looking for the most environmentally responsible option, JS Baird & Sons became interested in Biomass CHP

technology to generate electricity and heat for their farm. “When I first became aware of Biomass CHP technology, widespread manufacture was limited and Re2 were the only company who had produced multiple units at the time,” said Diarmid Baird. “When I approached Re2 they had already produced over 400 units. None of the other available solutions on the market had the heritage, experience or reliability of Re2.”

After installing the Re2 Biomass CHP unit JS Baird and Sons were very impressed with the results they have experienced so far. The heat is used in their broiler chicken shed and their

grain drying floor to dry 500 tons of grain during harvest and when it’s not drying grain it dries wood chip the rest of the time. The electricity is used in all the farm buildings, residential houses, grain drying fans and chicken shed; the surplus energy is exported to the grid.

“My farm electricity bill has completely disappeared. It allows me to operate my chicken broiler shed in optimal conditions including winter time and I can now dry grain faster and at virtually no extra cost avoiding the use of fossil fuels,” said Diarmid Baird.

With proven running hours the Re² Biomass CHP plant is the most advanced and reliable technology in the industry. It future proofs any business model and enables operators to generate diversified income. To learn more about the Re2 and their Biomass CHP plant, please visit: www.holz-kraft.com or contact our sales team: Matthias von Senfft, Tel: +49 (0)8773 70798162, email: [email protected].
