September-October 2017 The Riding Chapter # 1332 Volume 15 Issue 4
1
We love to ride, but we also love to help kids!
We all know that the HOG motto is “Ride and Have Fun!”. We work hard to put on safe, enjoyable rides and we
are really good at having fun! Another big part of our chapter is giving back.
We support a lot of Veteran organizations, and have a tremendous amount of support from the dealership to be
able to do this. We also pick children’s charities each year to donate to.
The upcoming charity drive needs volunteers. Please contact our new Charities Officer, Debbie Levites to volun-
teer some time November 18th and 19th.
LOH hosts multiple events
each year to donate to the
Children’s Charities. All do-
nations from the LOH Bike
Wash, Richmond Good Ole
Days Picnic and LOH Gift
Wrapping are given to the
Children’s Charities.
The LOH Bike Wash had 8 girls washing bikes and having fun with bubbles and water.
We raised $350.00
Wolverine Harley-Davidson always has tremendous Black Friday Deals. Keep an eye out for information on those, and also remember that LOH gift wrapping starts at the same time. Please consider volun-teering some time, and also don’t forget to bring your gifts to be wrapped!

Ride Warmer!
Ride Longer!
Ride Safer!
With the fall riding season upon us, you may be wondering how to increase your riding pleasure during the cooler times of the year. How do I get on the road earlier? How do I keep the muscles from tightening up? How do I wear less layers? The answer to these dilemmas, and more, is in Harley-Davidson's complete line of heated gear!
Harley Davidson 1-Touch Heated Clothing -
The premium line of heated gear from the Motor Company. Complete head to toe coverage that allows you to set up your own personal climate control system. Jacket liner, glove liners, liner pants, and socks with a re-chargeable wrist remote! This system is for the hard-core rider that does not let the elements dictate how or when to ride. Designed for riders by riders! Programmable remote allows you to set up 4 distinct heat zones. (jacket/gloves, pants/socks) Once customized, the remote remembers the settings for future rides! The ultimate gear for the ultimate touring motorcycles!
Harley Davidson BTC Heated Clothing -
New for the 2017-18 riding season the the BTC (built-in temperature control) line of heated gear.
This line includes both a men's and women's liner jacket, men's and women's outer riding gloves, and a outer riding pant! Simple low, medium, and high button settings are easy to use and provides very good heat coverage for most riding situations. All at a low-er price point!
Both lines are designed to be plugged into vehicle power via an included wiring harness.
Come see the entire line-up of Harley-Davidson heated gear at Wolverine Harley-Davidson! And be sure to ask for our heated gear specialist, Phil Novack, to show you the advantages of extending your season with heated gear!

Spotlight on LOH
Activities are listed on the chapter calendar.
If you have any questions, contact the LOH
coordinator at: [email protected]
ALL are welcome at LOH events. Please consider joining us.
The July LOH meeting at Mr. B’s had 19 members and 7 guests in
attendance. A self defense expert came and gave the ladies some
tips on basic things to prevent being a target. He is willing to hold a
class to teach hands-on techniques if we are interested. Please con-
tact Rose “Spaz” Bertolini if you are interested, so that she can
schedule a date and time.
Muskegon Bike Time A good time was had by all. The weather was great, we had 25 chapter members and 2 guests there. We rode a total of 5,225 miles. Thank you Tony and Randy for leading rides out there. Both picked beautiful back road routes.

Name: John Cain
Nickname: None
What do you ride? 2016 Street Glide Special
How long have you been riding? I started riding dirt bikes at 12 so 36 years
How long have you been a member of Wolverine HOG? 5 years
What is your favorite part of being a HOG member? The people I have met and gotten to know.

Why do you enjoy being on the board? I enjoy working with the other board members to make our chapter great. I want our members to be happy they’re a part of Wolverine H.O.G.
What hobbies do you have outside of riding? I repair and retrofit old arcade and vending ma-chines. I also read a lot and enjoy good movies.
What is your favorite ride? The Black Hills of South Dakota
Anything else you would like the membership to know about? I’m not really big and scary I just look like it. Ok I can be big and scary when I choose to be.

Officer Openings
After 7 years, Dave Shukwit is stepping aside as Treasurer. He will continue to be
active in the chapter and will assist the new treasurer in any way possible.
After 3 years as editor, Karyn Cain needs to step down. She will be happy to co-
write your first newsletter with you, if you like. You will also be given a detailed de-
scription of what the newsletter entails.
If you have any questions about either of these positions, please contact Dave or
Karyn. You may also contact Tony or Randy with any questions. Applications are due
September 16th.
Stepping up to volunteer as an officer may seem scary, but you will not be alone.
Not only is there a great board to work with and give guidance, HOG also provides
training for its officers. Below is an article that Rose “Spaz” Bertolini wrote about her
experience at H.O.T.
I would like to start off by saying “Thank you” to the Dealership and Chapter for sending me to the HOT (HOG Officer Training). What a wonderful experience! I had so much fun meeting new people from other countries and chapters. The classes were grueling from 8:00 am to 5:00. Very informative and very moti-vating . The Friday night party was off the hook with plenty of dancing and good times. I was a little naughty and was put in a time out for about 5 minutes in one of my classes but the class thought my ideas and rides were hilarious. We are very fortunate to have the best dealership in the state of Michigan, if not the U.S, for supporting our chapter. While at the classes I heard many other chapters state they do not get much support if any. After this experience I find myself pumped up and recharged (if you can imagine me being more pumped up than usual) to bring new ideas and focus on trying to get more chapter members to come out and play and ride. Ride and have FUN is the bottom line, get out and see the world! Rose "Spaz" Bertolini LOH Officer

Member Resources
by Randy DiFalco, Assistant Director
You may ask how do I know what’s going on with the Chapter this week, or what rides are available to attend next month? The primary answer is simple, the Chapter Website! Another excellent source of current events is the Chapter Facebook page. A great deal of effort and time goes into making both of these sites the best resources for you as a member. It’s the one stop shop for just about everything you need to know to make your Chapter Membership the best it can be. Whether you are a new member, or a charter member, you should be sure you are registered member of the website and visit the Facebook page often. As a registered member of the website you will have full access to member only downloads and information. Registering is easy, just go to wolverinehog.com, click the login button on the upper right, and click the register button. From there follow the simple instructions. In addition to registering be sure to subscribe to the weekly eblast and Chapter Newsletter. This subscription is located on the left side of the website main page under “Subscribe Here!” The weekly eblast keeps you informed and current on upcoming events as well as other general interest matters applicable to that week. The website home page provides you with upcoming events, news highlights and headlines, infor-mation regarding the regional HOG rally, as well as Wolverine Harley-Davidson’s calendar of events for the current month. There is also current weather, and useful links to the Chapter’s Face-book page and National HOG website. The Chapter website is your resource for all Chapter events which are included on the Calendar, including event/ride details, applicable flyers and descriptions. In addition, you will have access to Member downloads which include current and past newsletters, Chapter meeting minutes, as well as other information. The website is also your resource to view pictures from all the events and rides and links to the Chapter Officer email accounts. Finally, another useful Member resource is the Chapter Hotline (586-464-0260). This is the best resource for last minute updates for events, such as inclement weather cancelling a ride. Bottom line, there is no excuse for not knowing what’s happening with your Chapter, utilize the resources available to you! For help with the website please contact the Webmaster, Bill Wilson, at [email protected].
We have implemented an additional way to stay informed:

The Great Lakes HOG Rally
Unfortunately many people had to ride up in
the rain, some rides were canceled because of
washed out roads, and some cut rides short be-
cause of the weather. But - that certainly didn’t
stop the Wolverines from having fun and rock-
ing the house!
