Religious Education. Our formation program is for grades 1-8 and offers

three learning options: a condensed Summer program in the early summer,

as well as, a condensed monthly Family Program and a traditional weekly

program, both from September-May. Preparation for First Penance and Holy

Communion is in grades 1&2, and Confirmation grades 7&8. Registration is

held annually during the winter months.

IMPORTANCE OF USING WEEKLY

ENVELOPES

In addition to simple recordkeeping, the primary reason we

utilize any envelope system at all is so we can produce statements

for parishioners at the end of each year for income tax purposes.

Secondarily, because of the large size of our parish, this system

allows us to track, although imperfectly, the regularity of attend-

ance. Since we cannot possibly know each individual personally,

this system is used to assist the pastor when persons request a

sponsorship letter for Baptisms and Confirmations when they are

not personally known to him. The sponsorship letter requires the

pastor to attest to the fact that the sponsor fulfills their fundamen-

tal obligation as a Catholic by participation in the sacramental life

of the Church, which includes our Sunday Mass obligation. It is

precisely for this reason we request individuals to utilize our en-

velopes whether or not they choose or are able to donate since we

can verify regular participation should they not be familiar to us.

Faith Direct offers the option of electronic giving in place of

weekly envelopes. Simply visit the Faith Direct website at

www.faithdirect.net or call the Faith Direct Offices at 866507

8757 using the parish code NJ123.

BISHOP’S APPEAL

Thank you all who have given so generously to the 2021 Bishop's

Appeal. If you have not made a pledge, there is still time to par-

ticipate. Mail your gift to: Diocese of Metuchen, Bishop’s Annual

Appeal, P.O. Box 4000, Metuchen, NJ 088404000 or give online

at www.diometuchen.org/BAA.

To date, the Development Office has received pledges totaling $

121,954.93 and payments totaling $ 107,954.93 from 329 parish-

ioners. This represents 73.0% of your $ 167,000.00 goal. Thank

you for your efforts

CERTIFIED TEACHER OF AUTISM

NEEDED

Our Parish Religious Education Program is seeking a volunteer

certified Special Education Teacher who specializes in Au-

tism. Your consultation help is needed to evaluate, make recom-

mendations, and possibly privately tutor several autistic children

in our program to help prepare them for the sacraments. Frequen-

cy of tutoring sessions/sacrament preparation isanticipated at 12

times per month, but will be dependent upon your recommenda-

tions. For more info, or to volunteer, please contact our PCL,

Coleen D'Amato at[email protected].

SAFE ENVIROMENT COURSE OFFERED

AUGUST 30 & OCTOBER 13

Please preregister at www.virtus.org for the diocesan three hour

inperson 7PM evening course if you wish to volunteer at the

school, assist with religious instruction, or volunteer with scouts

or any other youth program on parish property or sponsored thru

the parish. We recognize this is a burden; but it is also a sacred

responsibility of trust that every child and parent is entitled to

from those who serve the Lord. Please be aware that using parish

facilities is a privilege constrained by rules and guidelines. Fail-

ure of an organization to be in compliance with Safe Environment

Program Guidelines risks all organization use of Immaculate Con-

ception facilities.

GOD BLESS YOU, SEMINARIAN JOSE

This week, Jose Lim will finish his summer assignment at Im-

maculate Conception. After a few days with his family, he will

be heading back to the Pontifical North American College to

begin his III Theology year. In his time here, Jose has been a

great help at Masses, wakes, funerals, baptisms, and other parish

events. In addition, he helped organize files in the parish business

office. Please keep Jose in your prayers for safe travels and for a

good year in Rome (where the lockdown rules have been more

strict).

GOD BLESS YOU, SEMINARIAN BRUCE

This past week, Bruce Cargill of our parish began his journey to

the priesthood at Immaculate Conception Seminary, Seton Hall

University. Bruce has begun what is called "PreTheology",

meaning he has some course requirements to fulfill before begin-

ning graduatelevel Theology. This is very common for men who

went through college never thinking they would study for the

priesthood, and so didn't take the required Philosophy cred-

its. Seminary does occasionally allow for some breaks, and so

you may see him around the parish from time to time. In the

meantime, keep him in your prayers.

WHAT’S IN A NAME CAMPAIGN

Immaculate Conception School is inviting the community to

acquire naming rights. At ICS, we continue to focus efforts on

instructional initiatives to grow student achievement and prepare

our students for a successful future. We are extending an invita-

tion to the school, parish and community at large to participate in

acquiring naming rights to all classrooms in the Early Education

Building, the classrooms within the school, the Science Lab, the

Art Room, etc. When donating toward this campaign, your or-

ganization’s name, a family name or a Saint name will be honored

or memorialized in a way that anyone who passes through our

halls will be reminded of those who have invested in their educa-

tion. Great things are happening at Immaculate Conception

School and your support will enable us to continue impacting the

lives of all those who cross our threshold. Your generosity and

support will ensure the future growth of our children, our beloved

school and the students of our PREP Program. Please contact

Laura Vitelli, 9087357319 or via email at

[email protected].

TUITION ANGEL

What is a Tuition Angel? We at Immaculate Conception

School are proud of the quality education we offer to our families.

In order to fulfill our mission by fostering in each child, Spiritual

Growth, Academic Excellence, and Moral Integrity, we must

properly fund our school.

We invite you to join us in prayerfully becoming an Immacu-

late Conception School Tuition Angel. Your support will make a

tremendous impact on the lives of students for generations to

come. We have been blessed over the years at ICS by people who

value a Catholic education and want to help provide for those less

fortunate. We have some “angels” who donate funding toward

tuition for ICS students. The Tuition Angel Fund is an ongoing

program where families in need are helped as situations arise. If

you are interested in contributing to this fund, please contact

Laura Vitelli, Director of Advancement, 9087357319, or via

email at [email protected]. Gifts are taxdeductible to the

extent provided by law.

MATCHING GIFTS

There are many companies that offer current and retired em-

ployees an opportunity to match their contributions to their favor-

ite charities. Please check with your Human Resource Depart-

ment as to whether they will support Immaculate Conception

School when making your donation. Your company may also

allow your spouse to make a contribution which can be matched.

Please take the time to potentially double your gift! Please contact

Laura Vitelli, Pastoral Associate for the Parish and School Ad-

vancement. At (908)7357319 or [email protected]

ICS MORNING PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

“HEAR ME ALL OF YOU,

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Every Friday we have Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day.

It is a great way to grow in your relationship with Christ, come

and spend time in quiet with Him! The signup sheet is in the

back of the Church.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED

SACRAMENT

Eucharistic Adoration takes place each Friday from

7:00am7:00pm,

ENVELOPE GIVING

We are extremely thankful for the weekly stewardship of all our

parishioners. During this state of emergency it is very helpful

to be able to rely on your continued support even when you

cannot personally attend Mass.

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on Sundays, 1:15 pm

A Preparation Session for the persons (Godparents invited) takes

place prior to Baptism and is held on the First Friday of each

month at 7:30 pm. A Catholic Godparent must be a practicing

Catholic, i.e. one who is free to receive the Sacraments in the

Catholic Church, who has been Confirmed and can receive a

“Letter of Good Standing” from their parish. One Godparent

could be a baptized Christian (not baptized in the Catholic

Church). That Godparent will be noted in the Church record as a

Christian Witness. Contact the Parish Office at 7357319 for all

arrangements and before the selection of Godparents.

THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE

The Sacrament of Penance is available every Saturday, except

Holy Saturday, from 11:30 am12:00 nn and from 3:30 4:00 pm.

THE SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE

The Common Policy for the Diocese of New Jersey requires a

period of preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage, which in-

cludes sessions with the parish priest or deacon and participation

in either the PreCana Conference or the Engaged Encounter

Weekend. Therefore, arrangements with the Parish Office should

be made up to one year in advance, and before any social plans

are finalized.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

Arrangements for pastoral visitation and Holy Communion to

the sick and infirmed at home can be made by contacting the Par-

ish Office. Catholic Charities are assigned by the Diocese of

Metuchen for patients in our area hospitals. Our Parish is respon-

sible for Rolling Hills Nursing Care Facility. Emergency sick

calls anytime.

INVITATION TO MORE...

 FESTIVAL OF PRAISE

Join us for our Monthly Festival of Praise

Friday, September 10, 7:30 9:00 pm

What is Festival of Praise (FOP)? Festival of Praise is a prayer

experience that takes place in the church. At its core is Eucharis-

tic Adoration. During Adoration, we “enter in” to the mystery of

God’s greatness. When we praise, we acknowledge God for who

he is. Contemporary music is played by musicians and vocalists

who lead us in prayer and praise. Song lyrics are projected for all

to follow. The Immaculate Conception Parish FOP is appropriate

for all ages.

PANCAKE BREAKFAST

“NEW OMELETTE BAR ADDED”

Sunday, September 12 the Knights of Columbus Council

#6245 will host the Monthly Pancake Breakfast from 8:00 am

12:00 nn, to benefit the various charities and activities supported

by the K of C. In addition to delicious homemade pancakes, the

breakfast will feature waffles, French Toast, bagels, bacon, sau-

sage, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, juice, coffee and tea.

The breakfast will be served in the parish hall. Admission is $30

for families3 or more children, $8 per adult, $7 per senior (65+),

$7 per child, (512). Children under the age of 5 eat for free.

CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE!

Our parish will be offering inperson bible studies this Fall. The

Jeff Cavins course on the book of “Revelation” will be held

weekly on Monday nights beginning in October for 11 weeks.

The Jeff Cavins course “The Bible Timeline” will be held weekly

on Tuesday nights beginning in September for 24 weeks.

“Revelation” is a Catholic bible study that shows how the king-

dom established by Christ in the Church is intimately connected

with the kingdom of heaven. “The Bible Timeline” is a Catholic

bible study that can help anyone to make sense of the Bible and

experience the lifechanging power of God’s Word. If you are

interested in either of these bible studies, please contact Larry

Meo at 9083038743 or [email protected].

THE PARISH BOOK CLUBS READS

ABOUT BOOKS!

The Parish Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 16, at

7 PM in The Sofa Room to discuss The Giver of Stars by Jojo

Moyes. Based on a true story rooted in America's past, this novel

is a breathtaking story of five extraordinary women and their

remarkable journey through the mountains of Kentucky. Answer-

ing the call for a team of women to deliver books as part of Elea-

nor Roosevelt's traveling library, these five volunteers will be-

come known as The Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky. Their

story is a richly rewarding one of friendship, true love and what

happens when we reach beyond our grasp for the great beyond.

Come join the group for an interesting evening. Contact Carole

for more information. (908) 3103886
