• An open source Content Management System (CMS), Free + open source• Mostly run on Apache server (preferred, more resources and tutorials available)• Can be downloaded and used for free• Provides open Source API for developers• Releases: Drupal 5, Drupal 6 (Drupal 7 only alpha release)

• Setup on local machine (localhost) (No different from if it were a server, just more powerful and is connected to

the internet for others to access)• Download WAMP http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php/

(plus php 5.2 addon) comes with Apache server, MySql DB, PHP, PHPMyadmin• Download Drupal 6 http://drupal.org/project/drupal• Install WAMP, install addon

• Move Drupal to www folder and rename to just drupal (optional)• Download WAMP• Create Database PHPMyadmin• Modify settings.php (every drupal installation requires this file)• Enable apache rewrite_module• Choose php 5.2 addon• Install Drupal http://localhost/drupal/install.php

• Enable Admin module• Create a “page”, then create a “block” and place it on a home page “region”• Create a role “end user” (with restricted block permissions); create a user and assign user the “end user” role.• Verify that user cannot access the block
