MORNING Quantum Global

Good Morning & Welcome to Thursday's trading action at Dalal Street, dated

7th February 2019.

Yippee!!

In yesterday's trade, the FIIs were again net buyers to the tune of Rs. 694.97 crores and

the DIIs camp too mopped up shares worth Rs. 525.26 crores.

In February month, FIIs are net buyers to the tune of 2319.38 Cr.

That brings us to our call of the day which says the benchmark Nifty likely to start the day

with a bang, but we suspect, after a higher open the benchmarks are likely to seesaw

around the break even line as investors turn their attention to the biggest event of the day:

RBI Policy meet outcome!

This will be the first monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting under governor

Shaktikanta Das, and the outcome will be a close call.

But the good thing for the bulls camp is that the MPC meeting is on backdrop of a already

dovish Federal Reserve. The street is also hoping for a rate cut by RBI and a softer stance in

wake of easing inflation, lower commodity prices, and weaker growth momentum.

That said, MPC outcome likely to be a close call as on the other hand, the street is nervous

on fear of fiscal slippages due to series of welfare schemes announced in the budget. Also

as election approaches pre-election spending and political risks will remain high.

Long story short: MPC may hold rates, that said a strong dovish tilt quite likely.

So all anxious eyes turn to RBI Monetary Policy outcome to be wired at 11.45

am followed by RBI Governor Speech at 12.00 pm

Daily Chart of Nifty:

Outlook for Thursday: Nifty likely to aim 11,111 mark.

State of flux quite likely after a higher open.

Meanwhile, commanding investors attention this week would be Q3 earnings:

Cadila Healthcare, Arvind and Grasim.

• 8-Feb: Mahindra & Mahindra, NHPC, BPCL and Engineers India.

major rebound from a higher consolidation zone on the daily charts. Key support

seen at 3045 zone. Key hurdles seen at 3305. Interweek Strategy: Buy at CMP,

targeting 3305 and then at 3501-3507 zone. Stop below 3041.

FII/DII & OPTIONS DATA:

• As per Wednesday’s Provisional Data available on the NSE, FII’s bought shares

worth Rs. 694.97 crores in the Indian Equity Market. DIIs too bought shares worth

Rs. 525.26 crores in the Indian Equity market.

• As per option data, key resistance level on closing basis for the February series for

Nifty are at 11,000 strike price as maximum call open interest of 33.66 lakh

contracts were seen at the 11,000 strike price. Key support level on closing basis for

the February series is at 10,700 as Maximum Put open interest of 34.45 lakh

contracts was seen at the 10,700 strike price.

GLOBAL CUES:

• Wall Street ended Wednesday's session lower after President Donald Trump’s State

of the Union address offered few details on his economic agenda. The president,

however, insisted China commit to real, structural economic reforms before a trade

deal can be reached.

MACRO EVENTS:

• On the economic front, business activity growth in the Indian service sector cooled

further at the start of 2019, amid the weakest upturn in new work since last

September. The seasonally adjusted Nikkei India Services Business Activity Index

fell for the second straight month in January, from 53.2 in December to 52.2,

indicating a softer expansion in output.

• Meanwhile, fiscal deficit for the first nine months of the current fiscal, that is April-

December, crossed 112.4% of the Budget Estimate (BE). Fiscal deficit for the first

nine months is more than Rs 7.01 lakh crore as against the BE of Rs 6.24 lakh crore.

• According to the data released by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), the

revenue receipts of the government totalled Rs 10.84 lakh crore or 62.8% of BE in

2018-2019 till December, compared with 66.9% during the same period last year.

POLITICAL CUES:

• Tricky days lies ahead for investors at Dalal Street. The street is seen entering this

time of year with apprehension and anxiety and the only thing certain for investors’

is uncertainty. Expect volatility to hit the roof amidst uncertainty ahead of general

elections in April-May 2019.

Dr. Lal Pathlabs enjoyed a strong session in

yesterday's trade, up 3.12%.

The momentum oscillators are in buy mode and

the stock price signaling a major breakout on the

daily charts. The stock price is signaling a break

out from a higher consolidation zone on daily

charts.

Positive interweek bias as long as

Dr. Lal Pathlabs is trading above 987 mark.

Confirmation of major strength above

1145.

The recent sequence of higher highs / lows is

intact on the daily charts, indicating further

momentum on upside. Also a flag pattern seen on

daily charts. The stock is likely to be a big

outperformer going forward.

Establishing long positions at CMP, and on any

weakness between 1040-1051 zone should be

the preferred trading strategy, targeting 1145

and then at 1201 zone. Final Aggressive targets

at its all time high at 1281. Stop below 987.

Holding Period: 60 days.

MORNING Quantum Global

Digging deeper, predicting elections in India is a mug’s game and the element of volatility in next three months will depend on the three big

questions:

1. Will Narendra Modi return to power?

2. Will Priyanka/Rahul Gandhi beat expectations and win?

3. Will a Third Front government emerge, as in 1996-98?

Long story short: Dalal Street will simply zoom on the upside if BJP comes back to power, and probably live with a Congress victory, but

please note a imminent crash on cards if the Third Front assumes power.

COMMODITY CUES:

• Gold trades sideways-down in Wednesday's trade. Positive bias as long as 1291 support is held. Hurdles now seen at 1331. Interweek

Strategy: Buy between 1297-1301 zone, targeting 1331 and then at 1351-1368 zone with stop below 1289.

• Crude oil slipped in yesterday's trade amidst profit booking. Key support remains at 49-51 zone. Interweek strategy: Establish buy positions

between 51-52 zone, targeting, 55 and then at 57.50 zone with strict stop at 49.

• MCX COPPER: Interweek strategy: Establish buy positions between 435-439 zone, targeting 457 mark and then aggressive targets at 469

with stop at 429.

CURRENCIES & BONDS:

• In Wednesday's trade, the Indian Rupee was ended unchanged against the dollar to close at 71.56.

Technically, USD/INR faces major hurdles at 72.50. Support now seen at 70.85. Major strength seen above 72.50. Interweek Strategy:

Aggressive traders can look to buy at CMP, targeting 72.50 and then aggressive targets at 73.05 with stop below 69.89.

WHAT TECHNICALS TELLS US ON NIFTY:

• In Wednesday's trade, despite a lackluster global cues, the benchmark Nifty zoomed higher, and most importantly ended in green for 5th

consecutive session.

• Sensex too ended on a spectacular note and ended a tad below the psychologically important 37,000 mark after crossing that level in late

trade.

• The benchmark indices gained for fifth day in a row.

• The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market was negative. The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.12% while the BSE Small-Cap

index inched up 0.05%.

• Technically speaking, medium term supports on Nifty are placed at 10601 zone. Only a move below 10,601 will deteriorate technical

conditions further with aggressive targets at 10,333 mark.

• Intraday supports are placed at 10,969 and then at 10901 zone.

• Medium term hurdles on Nifty at 11,111 mark. Above 11,111 mark expect massive short covering as we suspect newly optimistic investors

to step in.

• The medium term price action for Nifty is suggesting that we are likely to see an 10801-11,111 range in near term with positive bias.

Bulls Vs. Bears: Time to Pick a Side!!

Positive global cues likely to keep optimism alive at Dalal Street...

Preferred trade on Nifty (11062): Buy between 10945-10975 zone, targeting 11111 and then at 11250-11301 zone with strict stop at 10771.

Preferred trade on Bank Nifty (27402): Key near term supports at 26381. Confirmation of strength only above 27751. Buy between 26951-

27101 zone, targeting 27751 and then at 28101-28251 mark with strict stop at 26301.
