  • Can you believe we all made it? This is the year that we really needed something to celebrate, and what could be more perfect than great country music in the great outdoors? We want you to know how much we appreciate your willingness to spend your precious time and hard-earned money at WE Fest, and we promise you wont be disappointed.

The first thing youll notice when you get on site is the brand new stage and roof. We thought long and hard about this huge investment at a time when the econo-my is so uncertain, but we needed a new roof in order to bring you the top stars in country music. Their tour-ing shows have gotten bigger and better every year, and we needed to be able to provide them with a stronger roof so we could hang all of their lights and video screens. The new roof allows us to bring you the best show possible. In the end, it wasnt that hard a deci-sion.

We are enormously proud to present some of the finest talent in the world, under the biggest touring roof in the nation. Well, its not touring anymore because its found a permanent home at the Soo Pass Ranch. Hav-ing a roof we dont have to put up and take down each year will also allow us to bring you some other great entertainment.

The next thing youll notice is that everyone is going to have a little more elbow room. Weve reconfigured most of the reserved seating areas to provide more leg room, expanded the general admission area, and added some concession booths to better serve you. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

Its hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of another decade of WE Fest. Over the years the show has grown, as proven by the need to upgrade our stage for the third time. The stock market goes up and down, some people come to WE Fest for the first time, and some people just cant take the crowds anymore. One year it rains and the next year its so hot you dont want to move. Thats life but for the past 27 years there has been one constant. WE Fest and great Coun-try Music. Nashville keeps sending us great artists, people keep turning their radio dials and realizing that if you want to listen to some good songs, about things that matter in your life, sung and played by people who value talent over style, then its got to be country music. We are proud to be a part of that tradition, and look forward to many more years.

It Takes A Village To Build a WE FestWe want to thank all of the people who work tirelessly to put the show on, from the people who mow the grass, to the people who will clean the campgrounds and con-cert bowl following WE Fest. There are well over a thousand people working this weekend to make WE Fest a safe and enjoyable event. Our heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of them.

Have a SAFE Weekend Many of the people working tirelessly this weekend are here to lend you a hand. We want everyone to have fun, just not too much, if you know what I mean. If you need help with anything at all, call the emergency number on your wristband. Calmly explain your situation, and stay there to wait for help.

Its a good idea to learn where your campsite is during the day, so you can find your way home after the show. Mark your tent, look for the closest pole numbers, and pay attention. If youre lost, go to any employee and tell them youre lost. They will get a Chaplain or Security person to help you get back to your tent. This is espe-cially important if you are alone. Dont wander around looking confused, just get some help.

If you drove to WE Fest, but you dont feel like you can drive home, dont take the chance. Again, find a Chap-lain, Security person, or EMS Medical person, and tell them you need some help. The Becker County Sheriff and Minnesota State Highway Patrol put in a lot of hours trying to keep the roads safe, and they need to get intoxicated people off the road. For your own sake, and the safety of others, please drink responsibly, and dont drive if youve had too much to drink. GET HELP.

  • Welcome Back Tom KattWe are once again proud to welcome back Tom Katt as the stage host of WE Fest Over the years Tom has become the one constant on the WE Fest stage. Artists come and go, many have passed on, but Tom Katts always here to keep the show rollin.

Joined by his lovely wife Lynn Kitty, (who is actually his boss at WE Fest as Stage Producer), Tom Katts an avid hunter, former pro baseball player, restaurateur, and entertainer, in addition to his annual stop at WE Fest.

You can catch him and Lynn most nights at the Red Oak Steaks and Wine establishment they own in Lino Lakes, just a short shot from downtown Minneapolis or St Paul on 35 North. Its a treasure trove of WE Fest history.

Froggy 999Great Country Music All The TimeWe listen, and we hope you do, too. Froggy 99.9 is the only country music station in the Fargo\Moorhead market to be staffed by amphibians. They also play the best music, sponsor the best country music festivals, and definitely have the best lookin Station Manager, Michael Brooks.

Seriously, Froggy is a valued WE Fest partner in more ways than one. They help us select artists, promote the WE Fest throughout the region all year round, and of course bring the same great talent and energy to the WE Fest stage that has earned them the number one slot in the Fargo market.

    Join us in welcom-ing Hoppy Gill-more, Anne Phibian a n d Je r e m i a h Bullfrog to WE Fest this week-

end, and be sure t o s top by

their booth in the con-cert bowl for some up close and per-s o n a l chat.

CMT - Cody AlanWe are enormously proud to have been cho-sen by CMT to be part of their Summer of Music series. As part of that program, Cody Alan from CMT will be broadcasting nationally from the WE Fest. He will also be working with Froggy on the Main Stage once in while. You can meet Cody at the CMT headquarters in the VIP campground, so listen for stage announcements as to when he might be available. While your there you can participate in the CMT Singing Bee contest, or bring your friends and try to reach Super-star status on the country music version of the video game Rock Band. Youll also have a chance to win an backstage Meet and Greet at the CMT party on Saturday night.

Catch Cody Alan hosting shows on both radio and TV. Monday through Friday, he can be heard on CMT Radio Live With Cody Alan! Broadcast across America, CMT Radio Live originates from Nashville and is CMTs pre-miere country music and entertainment radio show. Alans wit, energy and charm shine with big star guests and live interaction from listeners. Landing major interviews with Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Faith Hill, Taylor Swift and more, he asks the right balance of questions, including the untypical. Country artist Dierks Bentley says, Codys show always feels fresh and current. Cody cares about country musics past and future and has always worked to make his shows excit-ing, interesting and personal.

The Twin Cities are K102 CountryK102 has been supporting the WE Fest since our inception in 1983, and no matter how many other fes-tivals come along, they continue to support the WE Fest year after year. We are proud to welcome the entire K102 team back to the show this year.

We are excited to present one of K102s top talents, and Wakeup Crew member Muss, as one of our illustrious stage hosts this weekend. Muss will assist Tom Katt with the many announcements that keep the show rolling, and interview artists for the Jumbotron pre-show interviews. An Owatonna, Minnesota boy, Muss has been in the radio biz since 1983, way back when WE Fest was born. If you dont live in the Cities, you can always stream the K102 Wakeup Crew on your computer for the best in New Country. If you sign up to be a member of the K102 Country Club at k102.com, you can get advance information on upcoming concerts and some great deals on tickets as well. 3

  • 2:45pmSilverado will be blasting onto the Main Stage at 2:45 p.m. today as the first band out of the chute into our fabulous Stars Shine in 09 Thursday lineup. You can also catch them tonight at the Ranch House Stage where they will kick off a two-hour show right after Toby Keiths Main Stage headliner show. That show starts around midnight and runs until 2:00 a.m.

Wow! Its actually been five years since the Sil-verado band made its debut at WE in 2003. Back then, they shook the Main Stage in the early afternoon and then worked the Ranch House Stage crowd with two rollicking, more intimate shows. Guitar player and one of Sil-verados two lead singers Terry Mackner was born and raised in Detroit Lakes. Like a lot of local kids, Terry grew up around WE Fest and worked for our festival by the time he was 15. Back in 1989 I worked for WE Fest picking up trash in the concert bowl while the Main Stage was going full bore and people were partying, he told WE Fest in 03. Id look up at the Main Stage and think how way-cool it would be to some day sing from up therethen Id bend over and pick up another crushed cupand think there goes another crushed dream. Before long, Terry was a full-fledged WE Fester enjoying the shows and camping. Terry knew 20 years ago what everybody else is fast finding out: Ameri-cas Best fest is the WE Fest! At one WE Fest, Terry was playing his guitar in the VIP camp-grounds with a buddy. This dude came up with his guitar and started jamming with us. We didnt know it then, but he was with Martina McBrides band.

Not quite crushed like a discarded beer cup, Ter-rys dream came true at WE in 03 when the

already well-seasoned Silverado entertainers hit the Main Stage. After five more years of enter-tainment experience and life lessonsSilverado is back at the Soo Pass Ranch.

Silverado is a five-piece country rock band that plays the best of current and classic country with a little bit of rock and roll, Silverado tells the WE Fest in its update. Silverado is not your daddys country band! We guarantee we will move you out of your seat and get your boots to the dance floor. Our band of killer musicians features two lead singersTerry (also plays bass) and Martin Vigesaa (also plays guitar, steel guitar and fiddle)--and impressive harmonies (every-body sings). Bryan Aamold (steel guitar and fid-dle), Charles Woodard on drums and Jason Wika on guitar make up the rest out the rest of the group.

Silverados full plate of summer gigs (available ontheirwebsite) isscatteredalloverMinnesotaand North Dakota including playing for WE Fests partner the Minnesota Twins at an auto-graph party; shows in nearby Erhard, Elizabeth and Elbow Lake (all neighbors to the south of Soo Pass Ranch); and Fargo and West Fargo (more WE Fest friends and neighbors to the west). While visiting that website, be sure and check out the photogs of the Silverado members filling and tossing sandbags while doing volun-teer work to help save Fargo from flooding this past spring. (Kudos to Silverado!)

Please welcome these musical pros, community helpers and WE Fest friends and favorites back to the Soo Pass Ranch to help your Stars Shine in 09!

  • 4:15pmWE brought 32 Below back for this years Wednesday night Kick-Off Party, and if ya missed that grrrreat show last night, ya wont want to miss 32 Below today when they tear up the Main Stage at around 4:15 p.m. as the second batch of stars in our Stars Shine in 09 Thursday lineup!

Last year WE had a hell-raisin time once again heatin up with 32 Below when they gigged for four hours at our Wednesday night Kick-Off Party for Feelin Great in 08. The freezercrew also kicked off our Main Stage line-up for Thursday and they were back at the Ranch House Stage closing down last years WE Fes-tivities while winning the hearts of those WE Festers who were not already well entrenched as faithful followers in 32 Belows loyal fan base.

At Heaven in 2007, 32 Below was the last band to perform at our 25 Year show as our Silver Anniversary revelers reeled, rocked and rolled proving The road goes on forever and the party never ends as Robert Earl Keen so aptly wrote in his anthem. Montgomery Gentry told WE Fest this about 32 Below: On stage there are bands that hope for your attention, and then there are bands that grab you by the ears and demand it. From the distinct vocal harmonies, to the accomplished musicianship, to their profes-sional demeanor, we were very impressed

On a hot summer afternoon theres nothing like a cold beverage to coolyadown, exceptmaybethinkin cool. When 32 Below made their WE Fest debut on the Main Stage on a hot WE Fest afternoon at our More in 2004 Triple Star Power show, the Fargo-based band maintained their cool while putting on one heckuva hot show!

The group burst onto the stage of the local music scene at the end of 2001. This is 32 Belows fourth trip aboard the Good Ship WE Fest and these home-boy favorites are another reason why Americas Best fest is the WE Fest!.

The 32 Below band: Luke Nygaard (drums) grew up on a farm in between Ulen and Hitterd-al,Minn.;Matt Aakre (lead vocals, lead guitar) fromneighboringHawley,MN;Jeb Reinhiller (fiddle, mandolin, guitar, vocals) ofHazen,ND;and Nathan Stang (bass, vocals) of Hettinger, ND. Their debut album was the self-titled 32 Below, and their sophomore project, Dont Look Back, came out in 2004. In 2006, 32 Below released their live CD/DVD This Ones for the Fans. And their latest album project, Stopping the Machine, is now available. All four albums canbeeasilyobtainedinCDorMP3format.Theband has sold thousands of CDs and thousands of downloads.

In 2009, 32 Below beat out 300 other artists to take first on a nation wide contest at Eventful.com to open for Little Big Town on a date in their 2009 tour. They picked a show close to home in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

WE Festers take notice: you will NOT want to be lollygagging in the campgrounds this afternoon when this great band makes its only appearance today at Stars Shine in 09! Come on out and romp and stomp in some early-August 32 Below weather! WEve had beautiful sun showers at the Soo Pass Ranch in the past. You wont want to miss the fourth of our historical, hysterical and very musical 32 Below sun freezes!

    thursday

Sawyer BrownWhen Sawyer Brown hits the Main Stage at 6:15 p.m. today to help make your Stars Shine in 09, they will make WE Fest history by being the only act that has performed at 10 of our 27 WE Fests! Sawyer Brown last came to the Soo Pass Ranch to help us share 25 years of WE Fest at Heaven in 2007.

WEve been calling their fans Sawyer Brownies since Chyrll Sparks coined the phrase in 96, and one of their biggest fan bases was built right here at the Soo Pass Ranch. Just as little elves bake crackers and cookies all night while you party, WE Fest bakes the best Sawyer Brownies.

Mark Miller (lead singer, dancer and spark plug band leader) always gets the crowd in a groove. The other founding member is our good friend Stephen Gregg Hobie Hubbard (keyboards and vocals). Joseph Smyth, II (drums), James Thomas Scholten (bass guitar), and Shayne Alan Hill (guitar), comprise the rest of Sawyer Brown, and they are truly one of he best bands in the history of country music.

It wasntanAprilFools jokeonMondayApril1,1982 when Mark Miller & company founded Sawyer Brown, the revered rockin country band that zoomed to fame after winning the

grand prize onTVsStar Search. These guys were the first-ever Star Search champions; the original American Idols. And, after per-forming over 4000 shows while touring the better part of three decades, numerous gold and plati-num albums, and awards Sawyer Brown remains a band you can count on. Never ones to get above their raising, they have a deep appreci-ation for the heart of small towns, rural realities, lives lived in common places and truths so basic they go unnoticed.

When Sawyer Brown made their WE Fest debut at Alive in 85, WE knew they were going to be around for a long time. And theyre still around for the 27th WE Fest, so theyre surely doing something right.

Your festival is a well-oiled machine and just too much fun, Hobie complimented the WE Fest with his usual smile, during a past visit. Saw-yer Brown and WE Fest are very important threads in the cloth of each others histories and were going to weave some more fun this year!

Rejoice, a 2008 Christmas album project, is the 21st album released by this amazing group thatcaptured fan-voted industry awards for six straight years as top vocal band and has also picked up County Music Association (CMA) and Academy of Country Music awards. Mis-sion Temple Fireworks Stand was the bands 20th album. The title cut, They Dont Under-stand, and Keep Your Hands to Yourself are three singles from that project that resonate well with Sawyer Brownies and WE Festers alike. Sawyer Brown has a reputation of being an act that nobody wants to follow. They have also built up a fan-base that shows up no matter what. Its crazy,Mark Miller told the WE Fest. Its almost like Jimmy Buffetts fans that come not because of the new record or the new song, but because they know theyre gonna have fun. Weve got kids who grew up listening to their parents

records coming now - and theyre totally into it. But thats what you wanna do: maintain what youve created. When its showing people a good time, well, thats a pretty great thing to have to keep up.

WEve heard and watched Sawyer Brown keep upforyearsastheypopularizedpulsatingpartysongs like Bettys Bein Bad and Step that Step; put their own stamp on classics like The Race Is On, Six Days on the Road, and Lookin for Love; and performed countless other hits as they blasted the airwaves and graced our WE Fest stage. In nine shows, Mark Miller has amassed marathons of musical miles right here on the WE Fest stage (including the old original red-painted WE Fest stage)! Con-gratulations to Sawyer Brown as they play their TENTH WE Fest!

  • 8:30pmWE are proud to welcome honky-tonkin badon-kadonkin Trace Adkins back to the Soo Pass Ranch. When Trace hits the Main Stage at 8:30 p.m. he holds the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Single of the Year Award for 2009 for his fourth No. 1 hit Youre Gonna Miss This.Andwhen our six-foot-six friend

strolls onto the stage, he will do so as Country Musics Sexiest Man according to a poll taken by Country Weekly mag last September. Tracewas the clear choicegetting three times the votes of his nearest competitor for coun-trys hottest hunk!, Country Weekly reported.

    Trace Adkinsthursday

    Trace Adkins16

  • Trace Adkins

But all of those fans who voted Trace the No. 1 country male hottie have reason to weep. With a wife and five daughters, the stage is the only place where Im in control, Trace likes to say. And control it he does.

The bass end of his big beautiful baritone is bound to shake the Soo Pass Ranch from Viking to Lake Salle and from Northwoods clear down to the south end of the VIP Camp-grounds for a third time. When you feel the ground shakin this eveningthat aint no train comin down the Soo Line, its Trace getting warmed up.

Trace has ten major albums under his belt including a Greatest Hits album which debuted at # 1 when released in 2003, American Man: Grtst Hits Vol. II released late in 2007, and his latest album of new stuffX ,released last November. X is the Roman numeral symbol for the number 10. Trace has scored two top hits with Muddy Water and Marry for Money; and the latest single from X is All I Ask for Anymore.

Ladies Love Country Boys, a single from his 2006 album Dangerous Man, was Traces third No. 1 hit. Trace has sold millions of albums and singles. Dreamin Out Loud (his debut album in 1996) went platinum. That debut also helped Trace get New Male Vocalist from the Acade-my of Country Music and the TNN/Music City News Star of Tomorrow awards early in his career.

When I was singing five nights a week in beer joints I think I just developed tungsten vocal cords, Trace told WE Fest. I think those years of playing in clubs and not having a good monitor system and singing as loud as I possibly could, just to hear myself, served me well.

Early on in his recording career, Trace registered a string of hit songs including: [This Aint] No

Thinkin Thing, I Left Something Turned On At Home, (both No. 1 hits) Every Light In The House is On, Lonely Wont Leave Me Alone, and The Rest of Mine. In 1999 Dont Lie was a hit and in 2001 he hit with Chrome and Im Tryin. He had another top hit with Then They Do, a song about kids growing up too fast, and the songs success spawned a book of the same title, all dedicated to his girls. Tarah was born in 1985 and Sarah was born in 1989. Trace and wife Rhonda have three daughters: Mackenzie (1998), Brianna (2001) and Trinity (2004).

Honky Tonk Badonkadonk was a No. 2 sin-gle in 2005. The song scored high in the Hot 100 and Pop charts, charted on US Hot Digital and US Ringtones and the video was a smash hit and won GACTVs Video of the Year. All of this broadened Traces fan base and increased his already ever-growing success and popularity.

  • 10:45pmWE Fest favorite Toby Keith makes his fifth visit to the Soo Pass Ranch tonight and WEre mighty pleased to have him headlining our Thursday night lineup for Stars Shine in 09. Since his last visit to WE Fest, Tobys fourteenth studio album, That Dont Make Me a Bad Guy, became his sixthNo. 1 album and it has gar-nered him two No.1 singles: She Never Cried in Front of Me and God Love Her. A third single from the album, Lost You Anyway was at No. 12 on the Billboard Charts as the Offi-

cial 2009 WE Fest Program goes to press.

In his career, Toby has racked up 18 No. 1 coun-try songs and seven No.1 country albums includ-ing his latest hits package, 35 Biggest Hits, which, at press time, is charting at No. 23 on Billboards Top Country Albums after an astronomical 56-week run.

Toby Keith made his WE Fest debut at Lets Go in Triple O, on the Friday Main Stage line-up

and he was a smash. At Just For You in 2002 Toby was the Saturday night headliner for our four-day Love Your Country show. Toby Keith wowed us all right after the rockets red glared over the WE Fest from our 20th Anniversary fireworks display.

Toby Keith has sold more than 25 million albums in this decade alone, untold millions of concert tickets and formed the basis for an entertainment empire that includes movies, res-taurants, a record label andmoreand BMIrecently honored Toby for 50 million airplay performances of his songs, a figure that puts him in company with hit makers like Elton John, The Bee Gees and John Lennon!

Some of Tobys other No. 1 singles include three multi-week No. 1 hits from Shockn Yall: I Love This Bar, American Soldier and Whiskey Girl; his duet with Willie Nelson Beer for My Horses from the Greatest Hits 2 album has become a barroom anthem along with I Love This Bar.

Prior to country stardom, Toby led the Easy Money Band on the Southwestern nightclub cir-cuit. He did oil field work, bucked broncos and even played semi-pro football. Hes 64 and looks like he couldwaltz or slug hisway across anystage, or any state for that matter. I dont think most of the other new country guys have worked nearly as many beer joints as I did, Toby told WE Fest.

Tobys Honky Tonk University education began right in his Grandmas bar and grill where he got interested in the musicians who played there. Toby came of age in Oklahoma City, but he was born in Clinton, Oklahoma--right on old Route 66. Toby chose music over football and came to Nashville with a tape of original songs in search of a record contract. They told me my songs sucked, spanked me and sent me home, he recalled for WE Fest In 1993 he got a record deal and began recording his own songs. He

exploded onto the country scenewith fourmas-sive hits from his debut CD, three of them from his own pen.

Toby was showered with awards from Billboard mag to BMI songwriting awards, voted Acad-emy of Country Musics Entertainer of the Year in 2003 and 2004 and he won the CMAs Music Video of the Year Award for As Good As I Once Was. Toby Keith wrote or co-wrote all 12 of the songs on Honky Tonk Uni-versity; and all but two of the songs on Big Dog Daddy, which was also the first album pro-duced by Toby and totally owned and released by Tobys own Show Dog Label. Tobys got 11 writing credits on That Dont Make Me A Bad Guy, which speaks directly to the enduring rele-vance of his writing.

Toby Keith is a living legend as a performer, and one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. As if that isnt enough, WE hear hes opening Toby Keiths I Love This Bar in St. Louis Park in the near future. See ya there!

  • 12:30pmOctober Road is about as Minnesota as a band can get. They originated in a barn west of Little Falls only five short but well-traveled years ago and they are another of the many reasons why Americas Best fest is the WE Fest! WE are pleasantly pleased to have these guys back for their third trip aboard the good ship WE Fest playing a Main Stage gig at 12:30 p.m. today when they open up our Friday lineup for Stars Shine in 09.The last time I bumped into October Road, they were performing in front of what appeared to be the entire town of Holdingford, Minnesota and a thousand other central Minnesota revelers who had ventured down into whats known as the Holy Land (Holdingfords about the only city down in that neck of Minnesota that doesnt begin with Saint.) for a street dance at the annual Holdingford Daze 2008 Community Festival. Needless to say, the main drag of Holdingford was rockin and so was October Road. The band had only been together for about a year when October Road made their WE Fest debut on the Main Stage and the Ranch House Stage at Triple Star Power II Still Alive in 2005.October Road played on into the WEee hours of Sunday morning as they closed down the 2005 WE Fest. And they were back again to kick off Super Star Power Kicks in 2006 on the Ranch House Stage for a four-hour 9:00 p.m. Wednesday until 2:00 a.m. Thursday gig. They also played the Main Stage and another Ranch House Stage gig at Kicks in 2006.October Roads band leader is Shawn Smalley who plays guitar and provides lead vocals, grew up in Little

Falls and tells WE Fest he started singin at age five. Ty Taylor plays a solid mix of Nashville chicken pickin and straight ahead melodic rock riffs; the exceptional drumming skills of Mark Westby gives the band a solid anchor; and the bass player is Joseph Thiele all three live in Fargo, ND.Their summer schedule (easily available on the web) tells you that October Road will be playing all over Minnesota and North Dakota this summer at fairs, festivals, saloons and concerts. Based on the fun the guys were havin last summer down in the Holy Land and the way they had that Holdingford crowd shaking the main street, WE strongly suggest you catch October Road at a festival near you. WE also strongly suggest that you get out of the campgrounds and into the concert bowl today to catch their Main Stage and only gig at Stars Shine in 09! Be there or be square12:30 p.m.Shawn Smalley shares this with WE Fest: 2008 was a very successful year for the band and the group has exceedingly high hopes for 2009. Already solidly booked well into 2009, perhaps this will be the bands break out year and youll be seeing them on CMT and GAC! One can only hope! WE predict and wish more success for OR!Their latest album project, Rise and Shine, was just released in May of 2009 and the solid self-penned songs and stunning performances can be heard on their MySpace spot.Give a WE Fest welcome to October Road! Rock on!

when they began writing and recording their own music. Their music has been described as a tapestry of rock, pop and country, with a hint of folk and they are touring the world and traveling a million miles to promote their third album, Life at a Million Miles.Their previous albums, Full Circle released in 2005 and Dirt Roads City Lights released in 2007, saw the band garner the attention of the country music industry, both locally in Australia and on the international music scene. I stopped retreating to the backline, and I went out and I started playing the front nine together with Ive always played my cards just how I wanted and this time Im digging my feet down in the sand are lyrics that capture the high and lows of their sometimes crazy life, along the amazing roads theyve traveled.Jetty Road has had strong chart success in AustraliaNo. 1 and No. 2 hits and many Top 20 hits with viddies and singles on country radio and country television. Jetty Road has twice taken home the TIARA Award for Best Group (2008 / 2009) and the Victorian Album of the Year at the 2008 Victorian and National Country Music Awards. In January 2008 they were honored with a finalist nomination at the 36th Country Music Awards of Australia for Best Group. And Jetty Road was invited to play for the prestigious CMA Global Artist Showcase during the annual CMA Music Festival in Nashville. Lets give Jetty Road a great welcome and show em some WE Fest hospitality!

  • 3:30pmJoey + Rory are a married duo consisting of Rory Lee Feek and Joey Martin Feek.

WE Festers are bound to be enthralled by the well-crafted songs and tight harmonies of Joey + Rory when they make their WE Fest debut at Stars Shine in 09 on the Main Stage at 3:30 p.m. today. In lineage with a long tradition of married duos in American country music (Lulu Belle and Scotty, George and Tammy, Johnny and June, Tim

and Faith, to name a few), Joey + Rory are a perfect match for the Soo Pass Ranch where Americas Best fest is the WE Fest!

The couple came into the country music limelight as finalists on CMTs Can You Duet reality television contest show. After placing third on the show, the two were signed to Vanguard/Sugar Hill records. They released their debut album project The Life of a Song in 2008.

    Joey + Roryfriday

  • Joey + Rory

They are quickly becoming country favorites, sharing their beautiful harmonies and songwriting skills, along with their joyfulness and authenticity, to country music lovers everywhere.

In addition to singing, Joey runs a restaurant with her sister-in-law outside Nashville called Marcy Jos Mealhouse. Rory is an established songwriter with cuts including Blake Sheltons Some Beach, Clay Walkers The Chain of Loveand Collin Rayes, Someone You Used to Know. In the latter part of the 90s, Rory worked as a writer for Harlan Howard, legendary songwriter and Country Music Hall of Fame member. He went from there to Clint Blacks Blacktop Music and then started his own Giantslayer Publishing Company, with partner Tim Johnson in 2004.

The Life of a Song, was released in October of 2008 and debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, and No. 61 on the all-genre Billboard 200. Its lead-off single, Cheater, Cheater, was originally recorded by the duo Bomshel. Kristy Osmonson, formerly one-half of that duo, co-wrote the song with the Feeks and Wynn Varble. Bomshels version was released as a single in early 2008 shortly before Osmonsons departure. Joey + Rorys version was released in September 2008, featuring a music video with a cameo by Naomi Judd, who had been a judge on Can You Duet.

Rory also founded the independent label Giantslayer Records in 2004, on which Joey had recorded a solo album entitled Strong Enough to Cry in 2005. This album is now available as a digital download or CD on the Joey + Rory website.

In 2009, Joey + Rory were nominated for the Academy of Country Musics Top Vocal Duo award, and the CMT Music Award for Duo Video of The Year, for the Cheater, Cheater video. Listening to songs from The Life of a Song while looking over the Joey + Rory website, it doesnt take long before songs like Sweet Emmy Lou, Rodeo, Loved the Hell, and the heart

rendering To Say Goodbye really start sticking to you the same way Cheater, Cheater did the first time you heard that song on the radio. Joey even manages to make Free Bird her own song, which is a very tough act to pull off.

WE have been looking forward to seeing Joey + Rory live since we first heard Cheater, Cheater, and welcome the opportunity to introduce this incredibly talented due to the WE Fest audience. WE are warning you now this is your chance to be a part of something wonderful, Country Music Legends emerging like butterflies, into the light.

  • 5:45pmWhen WE started booking the show last fall, Craig Morgan was on everybodys list. Every radio station we called, every country music publication, all the country music super-fans we consult to see whats new on the horizon. Craig makes the most highly recommended debut in WE Fest history. He hits the Main Stage at 5:45 today, so plan to be there.

Craig Morgans five studio albums have accounted for sixteen singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles charts. His highest-peaking single is Thats What I

Love About Sunday, the only No. 1 of his career, the first No. 1 for his then the Broken Bow label, and the No. 1 country music single of 2005 on the Billboard Year-End charts. Five more of his singles have reached Top Ten on the country singles charts as well: Almost Home, Redneck Yacht Club (certified gold by the RIAA), Little Bit of Life, International Harvester and Love Remembers.

When Craig Morgan was ten years old and on a school field trip to Nashville, he sang The Star-Spangled

    Craig Morganfriday

Banner well enough to catch the ear of a distinctive older lady in the crowd. She walked up to me and said, Son, someday youre gonna be a famous singer, Craig remembered this, two-plus decades later, when he was looking at a picture of that womanMinnie Pearlin the Ryman Auditorium dressing room that bears her name. He was getting ready for his first performance on the Grand Ole Opry. What Minnie didnt know was that before his moment in the spotlight finally came, Craig Morgan would be an EMT, a contractor, a sheriffs deputy and a Wal-Mart assistant dairy manager. Hed also spend ten years serving his country in the U.S. Army.

Craig Morgan is one of country musics most respected performers. It doesnt matter if hes jumping out of airplanes, putting gallon jugs on a refrigerated shelf or singing hits like Redneck Yacht Club, Almost Home and Toughhis honesty, humility and work ethic stand out as strongly as his talent.

Thats Why is the title of Craigs fifth album, and his debut on his new BNA Records label. From the evocative and instantly familiar single Love Remembers to the rural rally cry of Sticks to the church-choir epic Ordinary Angels, its the sound of an artist soaring to new heights as both a vocalist and songwriter, but with his steel-toed boots still firmly on the ground.

The same cannot be said, however, for the tires of his Kawasaki motorbike. Craig isnt ready to trade in his KX-450 yet. Before most concerts Morgan jumps his bike across the stage. And he attended the 2006 ACM Awards on crutches after crashing in a race.

Nashville reporter and industry insider Robert Oermann wrote, Craig Morgan is country musics champion of the Everymana loyal husband and father, unblushingly sentimental, tough enough to kick your butt if you cross him and the kind of friend everyone would like to have. As the song goes, Thats why I keep swinging this hammer...break my back for a slice of that American pie Craig sings on Thats Why. His stout voice rings out with such authority and passion that you know the sentiment is no less true now that the hammers been replaced with a guitar.

As it turns out, selling records, being on the radio and playing some 200 shows a year has only made him embrace fatherhood and family more firmly. Craig has four children with his wife, Karen, as well as a daughter from a previous marriage; they live just a few miles from the farmland in Dickson, Tennessee, where his mother and father went on their first date. Family truly is the thing thats most important, Craig Morgan explains to the WE Fest. I love the music; I love singing and writing songs and producing records. But ultimately, I do what I have to do to take care of my family. Even someone who has the greatest job in the world would rather spend more time at home. I know I would, and I have the best job in the world.

  • 8:15pmWE Fest was thrilled when WE were able to book Taylor Swift for Stars Shine in 09 making it two years in a row for this budding superstar. Taylor has had a very busy year since her last trip aboard the good ship WE Fest. Fearless, her second album project has broken more records in the music industry than a trap shooting expert with a double-barreled shotgun and a truckload of 78 RPMS.

At press time Fearless was holding the No. 3 spot on Billboards Top Country Albums chart after spending fifteen non-consecutive weeks in the NUMBER 0NE slot on Billboards country charts. The album has also spent 25 weeks in the top ten of the Billboard 200, making Fearless one of the top five longest running number-one album in Billboard

history. Thats what you call a big, big record! It was certified Triple Platinum and sold over a half million copies in its first week after release!

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Taylor Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in America with combined sales of more than four million albums. (She also graduated high school last year). Taylors Fearless and her self-titled album finished 2008 at No. 3 and No. 6 six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. She was the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have two different albums in the Top 10 on the year end album chart. Taylor became the first country artist to top the two million mark in paid downloads with three different songs.

Taylor Swift is the only female solo artist in country music history to write or co-write every song on a Quadruple Platinum-selling debut album. She plays a Taylor Grand Auditorium acoustic guitar made of koa wood, dances like she dont need the money, and approaches her role full-fledged recording and touring artist with a mature grace that is uncommon for a teenager. Taylor will be 20 this December.

Last year at WE Fest Taylor made a real difference in some lives, taking the time to speak with some young girls whose lives could use a little boost. Taylors charming mother hosted them on the tour bus, and you could not the believe the smiles.

Meanwhile, Taylor has won a Country Music Association (CMA) Horizon Award 2007; Grammy nomination for Best New Artist; Female Video of the Year, Video of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year awards from Country Music Television (CMT); the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Top New Female Vocalist Award 2007. and Album of the Year 2009 (Fearless) and the Crystal

Milestone Award; and she has been nominated for other other ACM and CMT Awards.

Amazing stuff for a girl who grew up on a farm in Wyomissing, Pa, started singing at age 10 in karaoke contests, festivals and fairs, and picked up a guitar and started writing songs when she was 12. By age 14 she had a publishing deal in Nashville and the family moved to nearby Henderson, TN. Taylor started playin at the Bluebird Caf, caught the attention of music-industry veteran Scott Borchetta, and when he launched a new label, Taylor was on it and on her way. WEre proud to welcome her back to the WE Fest stage.

  • 10:45pmSince Brooks and Dunn last played the Soo Pass Ranch in 2006, their magnificent album, Cowboy Town, stormed the country, yielding five huge singles including Proud of the House We Built, God Must Be Busy, Put a Girl in It, Cowgirls Dont Cry (with Reba McIntire), and Indian Summer.

We came from pretty blue-collar backgrounds, so you had to dream some lofty dreams, Ronnie

Dunn tells the WE Fest, talking about the emotional momentum that drives the music by these country music superstars. In a career of more than 20 No.1 singles, Dunn observes, It was literally a fairy tale to think we could get to where things are now. I could tell you a thousand times when I hit the wall, but through persistence, we got there. I think for most people, its not about being the most talented. Its about weathering the storm.

    Brooks & Dunnfriday

  • Brooks & Dunn

I love playing, singing and writing, Kix Brooks says simply to WE Fest. The fact that I walk away from shows and people tell me what a great time they had, that gives me a lot of joy. Were doing what we want to do and people are enjoying it, so I like to think that everybodys winning.

Has it really been sixteen years since those boot-scootin boys were so good headlining Saturday night at WE in 93 that we brought em right back again for More in 94s Friday finale? The Stars Shine in 99 Saturday night card that had their name at the top was another great show, and they were another important chunk of WE Fest history when they closed down our four-day 20th Anniversary show at Just for You in 2002.

B & D are the reigning award-winning VOCAL DUO of all time! They have won the Country Music Association (CMA) Vocal Duo of the Year award twelve times and the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Vocal Duo/Group of the Year Award sixteen times since they burst onto the scene in 1991. Kix and Ronnie held the ACM and CMA duo/group awards so long that it was jokingly called the Brooks & Dunn Award. B & D have also won the Entertainer of the Year Award from both the CMA (96) and the ACM (95, 96 and 02). These entertainers rocked the stage at five of our festivals and they will rock the stage once more tonight.

Kix was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1955, sites Hank Williams, Sr. and Johnny Horton as influences, Steve Miller as a favorite singer and Layla by Derek & the Dominos as a favorite album. Ronnie Dunn, was born in Coleman, Texas in 1953, raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, names his dad as a great musical influence, and enjoys Merle Haggard, John

Fogerty and The Eagles. Before they were B & D, Brooks charted twicea No. 73 in 1983 and a No. 87 in 1989; Dunn charted twice--a No. 59 in 1983 and another No. 59 in 1984. The two were paired by Arista Records to pen songs. Together or solo, they are amazing songwriters. After singing together on demo records, they were offered a recording contract and the rest is, well, country music history.

Some experts predicted that B & D was merely a trend that would fade as fast as the Urban Cowboy blip of the early 80s or those line dance numbers that helped fire their early career. Unlike those naysayers, WE predicted in our 1994 Official WE Fest Program that their ride was gonna be a long one. And here WE are, together again, riding with Brooks and Dunn. Yee Ha!

Weve teamed up with Froggy 99.9 and Miller Lite to put togeth-er a contest that allows for some real imagination and FUN, Its All About the Hops. Miller Lite is brewed with superfine Triple Hops, and we all know about Frog behavior, so we are looking for sites that are having a hopping-good-time.

There will be some great prizes provided by Froggy 99.9 and Miller lite to the top two contest winners plus tickets and camp-ing passes for the winning sites to WE FEST 2010. The two camp-grounds with the best overall design who display the WE Fest Miller Lite Beer packaging and the Froggy 99.9 Logo will win and be featured on the jumbotron on Saturday afternoon. Remember to display the Miller Lite We Fest Packaging and Froggy Logo. Frogs, of course are always FUN.

  • Fargo-based band BoomTown will make its WE Fest debut on the Main Stage kicking off our Saturday Stars Shine in 09 lineup at 12:30 p.m. today. This diverse group of four seasoned singing road dog entertainers will also close down Stars Shine in 09 with a Ranch House Stage gig that kicks off as soon as Tim McGraw finishes his Main Stage headline act! (Just af-ter mid-night until 2:00 Sunday a.m.!)Bass player Richard Ratch Freeman hails from Natchez, MS, the oldest city on the Mississippi river. He grew up listening to and then later performing with various local delta blues bands. He hit the road as a keyboardist for the famous Clarence Carter (Strokin) and at age 25 was picked up by R&B legend Percy Sledge (When a Man Loves a Woman).Ratch moved on to Nashville, TN to pursue a country music career. He sang demo tracks, studied bass guitar and finally, after beating down the doors he found himself playing bass guitar for Martina McBride. Touring the USA with Martina, Ratch played at Lets Go in Triple O which landed Ratch in the North Country and Fargo where he met his wife, Brandi. Ratch hooked up with the popular local band Sub Zero and met his partner and co-founder of BoomTown, Romyn Hanks, who plays lead guitar in the band. Romyn toured with Sara Evans back some years ago, but not at WE Fest. Ratch acts as front man, lead singer, and bass player in BoomTown. The high voltage energy of Ratch and Romyn on stage is contagious and if you cant find them on stage they are probably out schmoozin and entertainin the crowd.

Steel guitar player Rick Schroeder is also no stranger to the WE Fest having played here before

with bands from his past like the Roosters and Southern Uprising.
