St. Rita is starting St. Joseph Devotion on the first Wednesday of
each month following the 8:30 A.M. mass beginning September
2, 2020.
Why a Devotion to St. Joseph?
St. Peter Julian Eymard said, “Devotion to St. Joseph is one of
the choicest graces that God can five a soul, for it is tantamount
to revealing the entire treasury of our Lord’s graces. When God
wishes to raise a soul to greater heights, he unites it to St. Joseph
by giving it a strong love for the good saint.”
In his book, Consecration to St. Joseph, The Wonders of Our
Spiritual Father, Father Donald Calloway, MIC, gives two main
reasons to “go to Joseph.”
1. “we need the spiritual fatherhood of St. Joseph to
help us and protect marriage, and the family.” Servant of
God Sr. Lucia, the longest living visionary of Fatima wrote:
The final battle between the Lord and the kingdom of
Satan will be about marriage and family.
2. "the entire world needs to be re-evangelized, includ-
ing the vast majority of baptized Christians.” In 1989, St. John
Paul II said that by invoking St Joseph the world can be re-
evangelized. (pg4)
We can and need to call upon St. Joseph to “ defend marriage
and the family, elevate morals, recover lost ground, and win
souls for Jesus Christ.” (pg5).
For those wanting more information on St. Joseph it can be found
in the Consecration to St Joseph, The Wonders of Our Spiritual
Father by Father Donald Callow, MIC.

Twenty—Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Hurricane Season Prayer
O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices
of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed your order and returned to its former quietude; you are still the Master of land
and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we
have no control. The Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant,
can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its
conventional boundaries, invade our land and spread chaos
and disaster. During this hurricane season, we turn to You, O
loving Father. Spare us from past tragedies whose memories
are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal
with the passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our
Beloved Mother, we ask you to plead with your Son in our
behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this
area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly
Jerusalem where a storm-less eternity awaits us.
Amen. Originally dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Audrey
in 1957. - Fr. Al Volpe, Cameron Parish, LA
St Rita Parish School of Religion (CCD)
It’s time to register! Due to COVID-19 restrictions
our St Rita Parish School of Religion classes will
be unable to meet on the school campus.
Therefore we have adapted a homeschool version
of our program. Students will register, receive a
book, and be assigned to a teacher. That teacher
will email the weekly lessons to the parents and
the parents will in turn email the completed
assignments back to the teacher. Registration
forms can be found on our website,
www.stritaharahan.com and also in the back of
church. We long for the day to be able to meet in
person, but until then, we feel this is the best
alternative.
Confirmation 2021 It’s time to register! Our Confirmation program
will look a little different this year. There will be
a meeting for all Juniors and their parents on
Tuesday , September 22 at 7 PM in the church
to discuss the details. Hope to see you there!
