It really has been a great start to 2019 at our school and I look forward to working with the school community during Semester 2. On Wednesday June 19, I was lucky enough to travel with our students to this year’s Small School Athletics Carnival in Tuncurry. The children competed against students from Barrington, Stratford, Bungwahl and Krambach schools. It was exciting to have so many children telling of their success at the various events. Great sportsmanship was once again displayed and we should all be very proud of our school’s second place finish. This carnival really was another great example of why ‘Small schools are great schools’. Well done everyone! This week at our school, students have celebrated NAIDOC week. This year, the National NAIDOC Committee invites all Australians to join with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in a movement of the nation for a better future. Congratulations to the children who received their Silver award at the NAIDOC assembly on Tuesday. Communities for Children (Mission Australia)

Communities for Children is an Australian Government funded service supporting families with children aged 0-12 years. Communities for Children aim to support parents to raise healthy children, giving them access to early learning opportunities and supporting them to make a good school transition. We do this by funding a whole range of services across the community. Those services include antenatal support programs, parenting support programs, supported playgroups, post-natal depression support programs, autism spectrum disorder support groups, domestic violence support programs, parent education and training and fun family activities.

If you’re struggling with the challenge of raising your children or would simply like more support, you can give Mission Australia a call and we can support you to find and access the supports you need, either through Communities for Children or other service providers across the community.
