INTRODUCTION................................................................................................

Vi is a full service digital agency, covering design, develop-

ment, optimisation and marketing.

We pride ourselves on a small agency ethos that produces

big agency results. We were recently named one of the

Top 5 Agencies to Look Out For by Web Designer Magazine.

Our clients like us because we work hard and work smart

to provide as much value for them as possible. Over the

past two years, we have invested considerably in growing

innovation from within. The result is new ways of thinking

and doing that directly benefit those we work with.

We were the first to stream high definition video with no

buffer times for the end user - this became the central

technology to a whole start-up company.

We were the first company to create a Flash website that is

as “readable” by search engines as a non-Flash site. Vaux-

hall used the technology for a yearly artist sponsorship

and we were shortlisted for the prestigious Econsultancy

Innovation Award.

We have just launched a partnership with the research

fellows, students and graduates of Goldsmiths University

to bring a high standard of innovation to future projects.

We grew up living in digital, so it’s not something we’ve

learnt. It’s something we are.

An online marketplace for up and coming European

fashion designers, Designer Market is focused on a

British audience. VI offered a complete package of

branding, website development and business solu-

tions consultancy. The site boasts an intuitive check-

out process that facilitates the login and register

system minimizing the amount of clicks in the user’s

journey and bringing them closer to conversion. The

site will form the framework from which Designer

Market can build as a unique community that bridges

the gap between designers and consumers.

VI gave Glimpse Online a new brand identity and a

sleek site redesign, on top of a newly optimised ecom-

merce platform. Our greatest innovation for Glimpse

Online is the introduction of an affiliate scheme, run

through an embeddable widget, for both designer pro-

file pages and their individual products. This greatly

extends the reach of Glimpse, potentially allowing for

direct links to checkout from any page on the web.

The result is higher conversions throughout the site,

steady growth in affiliate click-throughs and highly

positive feedback from the community of merchants

and buyers, without whom the site cannot function.

Solopress........................................................................................

Solopress is the second largest printing company

in the UK. In the lead-up to a complete overhaul of

their e-commerce site, VI implemented a short-term

solution that optimised “micro-conversion” points,

such as product views, cart adds, cart removals and

checkouts. This resulted in a near 10% boost in online

sales with-in 8 weeks. Through a complete rebranding

and restructuring of the physical business, VI helped

Solopress take ownership of their reputation of being

“the 24 Hour Printers”. We are currently working

to refine conversion on a very sophisticated level, by

unifying all of their marketing efforts into one channel.

We will be monitoring and optimising the site, taking

into account customer interactions that occur on

and offline, helping Solopress achieve real, sustain-

able growth.

Up and coming jewellery designer Suzie Gallagher

tasked VI with creating the branding, online presence,

lookbook and packaging of her inaugural collection.

Appealing to the Kings Road crowd, the site was fully

built in Flash with a dynamic e-commerce functional-

ity that integrated seamlessly with full-screen video

imagery.

River Island.....................................................................................

As an in-house project, our design team worked on

the redesign of highstreet retailer, River Island’s

website. Using the contents from the original site, we

restructured the interface to allow for a user experi-

ence that was clear and guided. The minimalist, sleek

design prevents the user from being distracted from

their goals and focuses their attention on featured

products. By repositioning the navigation bar and

reducing the visual noise of the homepage, calls to

actions find prominence abd findability is improved

across the site.

The world’s only vintage vodka needed a show-stop-

ping site that VI’s blockbuster Flash development skills

could cater for. Incorporating high definition video and

complex CGI sequences, embedded into a fast-loading

bespoke coding framework, the site is a major compo-

nent to their global marketing strategy.

Taylor James is a world-renowned creative production

studio based in London. With a wide range of services

from photographic retouching to full-scale computer

graphic productions, the studio asked VI to help them

showcase the variety of their incredible body of work

and highlight their skills in CGI and production man-

agement. A complete site redesign will reestablish

their position at the forefront of the highly competitive

industry of image creation.

For Peugeot, VI designed a marketing campaign

around the launch of the RCZ model sports car. Aimed

at an aspirational demographic of young urbanites,

we made “The World’s Best App” the centrepiece

of a cross-media push. Stealth marketing across

mainstream media outlets would alert people to the

existence of an exlusive smartphone application that

would give them access to the “ultimate in party cool.”

In close partnership with Nick House Entertainment,

who run some of the most prestigious nights in London

for celebrities and royalty alike, the application would

offer sophisticated features such as geo-location-

aware functionality, doorman notification, drinks

ordering, private car hire, friend finder, ex-partner call

blocker, among others.

As part of the World’s Worst Websites feature in

Web Designer magazine, we redesigned Timeout’s

London website into a fully interactive social planner.

The current site, failing to take into account almost

any social process, serves purely as an information

base. We took the functionality of the current site

and expanded it to cater for sharing with friends,

geo-location weather reports.

The BBC asked us to come up with a concept for

the forthcoming Formula One Season that would draw

users online and augment their tv viewing experi-

ence. the solution a website nested in their current

site that would provide: Live GPS tracking of cars on

circuit while maintaining full interactivity. Live video

from multiple track-side or in-car cameras, enhanced

driver based track guides with cross media possibili-

ties, driver car comparisons with “ghost car” features,

dynamic alerts for live race events, novice guide to

F1 rules, regulations, shown through complete circuit

overview and lap drive, editable tracks with analysis

of effects, simulations of weather conditions and its

effects on race day, with corresponding racing line,

tyre, fuelling and pitstop strategies and more. All with

a beautiful clean layout as seen to the side.

VI worked with creative advertising agency AMV

BBDO on a proposed 360 campaign for multinational

corporation, Diageo, owners of Guiness. The cam-

paign was based around the concept of a treasure

hunt as each piece of the website would be released

over time in snippets on the internet, thus a user

would have to hunt around the internet to find the

campaign. Gradually additional material would be

added to the cross platform campaign, leading up to

the release of the advert.

Econsultancy, despite being the knowledge base

of our industry - training the likes of Google, Nike and

Virgin - had a website breaking many of the rules

they themselves had written the book on. They asked

VI to work with them on conversion, focused on a

complete site redesign that dramatically decreases

bounce rates and guides users’ decision making

processes to points of sale for exclusive reports,

events and training.

Despite their “no frills image,” and being one of the

biggest airlines in the UK, the current offering online

breaks every rule of usability, persuasion architecture

and common logic.

We’ve gone for a complete redesign that incorpo-

rates a sophisticated contextual affiliate scheme that

replaces outdated banner ads – if you choose to see

flights to Barcelona, maybe you’re also interested

in getting tickets to a football game during your stay.

It gives the client far more options to generate addi-

tional revenues on the site without detracting from

the user experience.

The Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI) is the

sole worldwide body governing horse sports, jumping,

dressage and other events. VI helped them transition

from a cripplingly expensive dependence on Microsoft

Sharepoint to an open source framework that now

supports close to one million web pages for the global

organisation. After a complete redevelopment of their

flagship site, online television channel and intranet,

VI continues to work with the FEI to create minisites

and sub-branded content. One of these projects was

the annual FEI Awards, where our site boasted a

conversion rate of 25% and increased voting by a fac-

tor of four.

Latitude is one of the world’s largest search market-

ing agencies and the largest Pay Per Click company,

working for the likes of Tesco, The Independent and

Fitness First. VI was tasked with helping them transi-

tion into a full services digital agency that could take

serious claims in online display, social media, affiliate

marketing and analytics consultancy. Within the first

six weeks, there was a 300% increase in business

leads from the site. Over the following six months, the

conversion rate had a 75% improvement, and bounce

rates had fallen dramatically, while both time-on-site

and return visits continue to increase steadily.

For Virgin Media Television’s popular Living cable chan-

nel, VI was tasked with creating a whole new brand

named Liv, and building it as an internet television

destination. Partnering with video streaming leader

Brightcove, we’ve built a monetisable video platform

for online and mobile, that offers fully searchable

and shareable content. The player occupies prime

real estate on the Living TV homepage and allows for

significant cross-promotion across Virgin Media Televi-

sion’s properties.

Funded by Nokia, Vusion provided HD streaming

video services in the cloud to businesses.

We pioneered the technology behind their instantly-

loading high definition streams, which allows users

to click anywhere on the progress bar and start playing

the video without buffer time.

Using a series of sophisticated, custom-made algo-

rithms, colour quality is as rich and vivid as those

found in the source file, and motion blur is free from

the usual artifacts found.

The player was tooled to constantly readjust the video

resolution according to fluctuating bandwidth and

computer resources, offering a smooth experience

over other services often streamed at a single bit-rate

that compromise on image quality.

We started using Adobe Flex, but adapted it into our

own framework and built it at a quarter of the file size.

It’s enabled us to develop a Flash interface that could

be customised on the user-side to enable extensive

additional functionality and options for aesthetics.

skills in Flash development, unveiling the first fully

search engine indexable site to be built in Flash. Each

year the auto giant sponsors a group of creatives

from fields like fashion, photography, interior design

and film to produce innovative projects inspired by

“The Great British Road Trip.” Contagious Magazine

described the site as “a beautifully designed and

animated site which looks like something attached to

Coca Cola’s Happiness Factory campaign rather than

the traditionally middle of the road manufacturer.”

ING Media was VI’s first full Flash SEO website.

The PR & Communications agency needed a redesign

that was functional and accessible to a wide audi-

ence. Integrating animations from our inhouse motion

graphics team, we created a Flash site that was fully

indexable by search engines without the need of a

parallel HTML site and built a site around a refreshed

brand identity.
