and parking lots/roadways at Trader’s Point Lifestyle Center, a mixed-use retail and office development in Indianapolis, IN. Design resulted in 12% more land for development and a 5% reduction in construction costs.

Developed an innovative site plan that included native wetlands, ponds, and storm water management and reclamation for Major Hospital Cancer Center in Shelbyville, IN. This solution resulted in a 4% reduction in construction costs and a yearly landscape maintenance savings of $135,000 for the client.

Developed an integrated native plant system for storm water management ponds at Intelliplex, a mixed-use office and tech center in Shelbyville, IN. Saved the client $65,000 per year in landscape maintenance costs.

Clifty Falls State Park Inn: Madison, IN. Developed a site plan that included a formal naturalized courtyard, parking and public spaces around the Inn. Design resulted in more income generating opportunities for the inn and less stress on natural areas.

Swanson's Outdoor Designs - Owner: January 1988 to September 2003 Founded and managed a landscape architectural and environmental consultation firm specializing in native plant consultation, design and installations, and civil engineering design. Provided subdivision design, storm water management design and reports, forest

stand delineation drawings and reports, forest conservation drawings and reports, planting design and specialty pavement designs for ATCS, Waldorf, MD. My ecological certification and knowledge saved the client $3,800 per project.

Developed and deployed a custom Microsoft Access database application linked to AutoCAD drawing file data for a regional supermarket and convenience store chain that automated retail store equipment ordering, receiving and installation, saving client $35,000 per store over previous method. An additional function created a custom BIM asset tracking protocol that reduced the facilities department maintenance costs by 2% each year for the first 5 years of use.

Generated an average of 55 store site plans per year. Provided architectural, mechanical and civil drafting and design services for a

battery recycling operation to document plant processes and assets, saving the company $12,000 per year.

Designed storm water detention for same client to comply with EPA and IDEM pollution control standards for lead. This design contained 100% of all storm water on-site for filtering and lead reclamation. Saved the client $70,000 in fines and fees the first year.

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis - Educator/Curator of the Natural and Earth Sciences: October 1982 to June 1988.

Managed the curatorial and educational operations and fund raising for three interior galleries and two outdoor galleries. Developed and implemented a major revision of the Natural Science Gallery (budget

$325,000), and the outdoor Clowes Garden Gallery (budget $275,000). These two galleries became the most visited and popular museum spaces.

Coordinated the conversion of 100 acres of donated land to comply with Indiana Department of Natural Resources standards. Property was dedicated as the Ritchey Woods State Nature Preserve. Ritchey Woods hosted 5 permanent and 7 temporary outdoor education programs annually.
