The Greater Palm Beach

County Women’s Council of

Realtors® gives back to the

Achievement Centers for Chil-

dren and Families, ACCF.

Each year the incoming

president of the Greater Palm

Beach County’s Women’s

Council of Realtors®, WCR,

selects a charity to support dur-

ing their administration. This

year, Jessica Rosato, residential

real estate specialist with Nes-

tler Poletto Sotheby’s Interna-

tional Realty and 2016 local

chapter president of the WCR,

selected the Achievement Cen-

ters for Children and Families

in Delray Beach.

During the year, the WCR will

conduct drives at meetings to

collect items needed for the

children with a portion of pro-

ceeds from events throughout

the year donated to the nonprof-

it.

“I am so excited to sup-

port a local organization right

here in my own backyard,” said

Rosato. “ACCF is invaluable to

the Delray Beach community,

and by engaging and educating

families, the center not only as-

sists them in becoming fully

productive and economically

self-sufficient, they help build

strong family bonds and ulti-

mately build a stronger commu-

nity.” The center has been

serving Palm Beach County’s

most vulnerable children and

families since 1969. It provides

affordable quality care to chil-

dren whose parents otherwise

could not maintain their job or

go to school without the center’s

help. Their programs are de-

signed to meet a child’s aca-

demic, social, emotional and

physical needs.

WCR goes to San Diego

I would like to share some information about the

WCR meetings in San Diego. The new Executive Vice

President, Jeff Hornberger, reached out to Brazil! He had

a group of 30 plus real estate agents from Brazil attending

the General Meeting, and they are opening a Brazil WCR

Chapter! How exciting! So reach out to these agents and

work on International referrals.

More than 40 agents received their PMN designation. I was one of

them, and I can only encourage you to take the classes and get certified. Many

WCR agents send their referrals to PMN designees.

Leigh Brown gave a very interesting seminar. The topic was team

building – and I was just about to walk out, because I do not want to have a

“team” when I realized her definition of “team” was different than what I was

thinking. She encouraged us to have a “team” of reliable professionals to uti-

lize when we are not available. For example, you are feeling not good, but

have this listing appointment scheduled, how wonderful is it when you have

someone, who you can refer this to and know it is done in the same profes-

sional manner. This person does not even have to be from the same office!

Now that this year has come to an end, I would like to say thank you

to so many of you, my leadership team and all the members who made my

year successful.

It was a wonderful experience for me – not everything went the way I

had envisioned – but isn’t this always the case? I am quoting Henry Ford who

said: “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working

together is success.” And we had success! And I wish the incoming leader-

ship with Jessica Rosato as President also success – which means that they are

working together.

Frequently Asked Questions …

What do I do when my (roof/refrigerator/plumbing/toilet/Washer/Hot Water Heater/AC) leaks?

First and foremost, turn off the water source if at all possible. You will then call the claims department

of your homeowner’s insurance company to start the cleanup process. Or call us and we will help you

contact them. In addition, we suggest you turn off your main supply valve for the home when you

go on vacation (if possible) so these events do not occur while you are gone. Here is why you should call them first: http://

www.securityfirstflorida.com/en/claims-center/hiring-a-contractor/homeowner-advisory-assignment-of-benefits

Does my homeowner’s policy cover flooding? (Rising water from outside the home):

Your homeowner’s policy does NOT cover flooding, but a separate flood policy may, check the facts at: http://

disasterrecovery.sd.gov/documents/Myths_Facts_NFIP.pdf

And keep in mind, 20% of flood losses occur outside of special flood hazard areas! (What many think of as flood zones).

What are my liability exposures if I drive for a ridesharing company like Uber or Lyft?

This is a great question. Uber and Lyft claim to have a blanket liability policy that is supposed to cover you in the case of an acci-

dent. Keep in mind, there is a personal automobile policy on your vehicle, not a commercial policy when used for hire. We have not

been able to review the Uber policy, but some of the companies we represent will not insure you under your personal automobile poli-

cy. Yet others will but you have to have to let them know to add this endorsement on the personal auto policy in advance.

The important question that is not answered is when does the Uber coverage start? Is it when you clock in, or when you are dis-

patched for a pickup, or when the customer enters the vehicle?

These are questions to consider BEFORE you have an accident, not after. Remember, you financial well- being could be at risk.

Can I just ignore these pesky Citizen’s Property Insurance Co. takeout notices?

If you choose to do so, you are not eligible to return to Citizens later. Citizens Property Insurance Corporation, (which some refer to

as the carrier of last resort) is in the midst of a legislatively mandated, large-scale depopulation program, in which it has slashed its

number of policies by about a third in the last several years. Private insurance companies are making offers of coverage to selected

Citizens policyholders. They are doing this by on OPT-OUT program which requires you to take action to stay with Citizens….This

is the opposite of an OPT IN program, where you choose to go with the new company. Ignore these at your own peril because once

the date passes, you will not be able to return to Citizens. If you are insured with Citizens through our agency, it is because there is

something unique about your property that prevented us from using a private company to begin with.

Women’s Council of REALTORS, Greater Palm Beach County Chapter WCR Review January-March, 2016

One of the most important long term goals of the

Women’s Council of Realtors® is to identify, build, sup-

port and promote strong leaders in business, the industry,

and the broader community. I’ve had the privilege of being

involved with Women’s Council of Realtors Greater Palm

Beach for over ten years and have witnessed so many suc-

cessful women and men fulfill this goal through their in-

volvement in the Women’s Council. Here’s just a little

about a few of them who I’ve gotten to know and greatly

admire over the years. Each of them has credited Women’s

Council with giving them fundamental skills that have

helped propel them in their business and community in-

volvement.

Judy Ramella, who

was recently elected President

of The Realtors® Association

of the Palm Beaches (RAPB)

served as our WCR Chapter

President in 2009. From that

role she was elected Florida

District Vice President and

then Florida Governor. Judy

also served as a Director, Treasurer, Vice President, and

President-Elect for RAPB. She developed and grew the

WCR International Committee and brought it to the WCR

National Level. It was at WCR where Judy learned Roberts

Rules of Order. This knowledge has helped her preside with

confidence over large meetings where decisions that affect

thousands of Realtors are made. It was in her positions

with WCR where she says she first gained confidence in

her presentation, organizational and time-management

skills. Judy was named Florida Realtors Realtor® Associ-

ate of the Year for 2015.

Amy Snook, is

our current District III

Vice President, she held

positions ranging from

Ways and Means Com-

mittee Chair to Chapter

President within the

Greater Palm Beach

County Chapter. While

Amy had leadership

training and experience

managing and leading direct sales teams prior to becoming

involved with Women’s Council, she says leading volun-

teers to achieve greatness together is a completely different

skill set. “Volunteers don’t have to stay when the going

gets tough, and this requires a different leadership style.”

Women's Council has helped Amy recognize that one of

her passions is to help uncover and develop the raw talents

in others that lead to great success. In January Amy was a

presenter at the Florida Realtors®/WCR Mid-Winter busi-

ness meetings held at the Renaissance Orlando Resort.

Deborah Bacarella

is grateful for the opportuni-

ties WCR gave her to learn

and grow. She is currently a

Team Leader at Keller Wil-

liams in Plantation and uses

the skills she’s learned from

WCR every day in her busi-

ness. Deborah served as

President of the Women’s

Council of Realtors Greater

Palm Beach, or “Greatest

Palm Beach” Chapter as she likes to call it in 2007. She

was then elected to District III Vice President and served as

Florida State Governor for two years. She is currently a

Florida Realtors® Director. Through WCR Deborah

learned that “The task is to ask”. She gained the confidence

to put that philosophy into practice. Her roles in WCR

taught her how to facilitate everything from small group

meetings at her office and church to very large events. She

was recently honored to give the Christian Inspiration at the

KW Family Reunion in New Orleans where over 12,000

attended. She is a Certified Performance Management Net-

work (PMN) designation instructor. Deborah recommends

that you seek opportunities to volunteer to lead others and

embrace the opportunity to serve. She guarantees that you

will learn invaluable leadership skills. She’s humbled and

honored to have served with so many amazing people she

calls her Women’s Council of Realtors® family.

Pamela Banks

of RE/MAX DI-

RECT has been a long-

time contributor to the

Women’s Council of

Realtors® both locally

and nationally. She was

President of our local

chapter in 2006 and

quickly rose through the

ranks as District Vice

President, Florida State Governor and Florida State Presi-

dent. She was recently appointed to the prestigious position

Leadership, Women’s Council of Realtors®

of Women’s Council of Realtors® National Executive

Committee Member. The National Executive Committee

oversees the operations of our national organization. They

are instrumental in facilitating programs and services, ex-

ternal outreach, member development and cultivating lead-

ers. In 2012 as Chair of the Community Outreach Commit-

tee for the Realtors® Association of the Palm Beaches

Pamela joined forces with the Boynton Beach Foundation

and the City of Boynton Beach to put on the very first Bar-

rier Free 5K Run/Walk/Roll a race to benefit the Barrier

Free Park. This park is the only one of its kind in the area

and is designed specifically for disabled and handicapped

children and adults. The race, which has turned into an an-

nual event, has raised over $18,000 for future additions to

the park. Over 175 people ran, walked or rolled in the race

this past February. Pamela believes the education and men-

toring offered by the Women's Council of Realtors pro-

vides you opportunities to learn leadership fundamen-

tals, expand your sphere of influence and sharpen skills

that push you towards confidence in your abilities. She will

also begin teaching the Performance Management Network

courses in the near future.

Keller Williams’, Team Leader, Tim Kinzler was

President of our Women’s Council local chapter in 2008.

Tim says that Women’s

Council taught him “Four

C’s – Communication, Cele-

bration, Creativity and Com-

mitment”. Running an effec-

tive meeting was one of the

significant leadership lessons

he learned at WCR. His in-

volvement in Women’s

Council led him to step into

a leadership role at KW that has enabled him to “build a

business worth owning and to find a life worth living”.

Tim currently has 225 agents on his team with a combined

$180 million dollars in annual sales. Could each of these

very accomplished professionals have risen to the levels

they have without Women’s Council? No doubt, but each

has shared their gratitude for the benefits they received

from being involved in WCR. You too can benefit from

your involvement in Women’s Council of Realtors®. Why

not take advantage of what’s offered? Start your journey to

success today by volunteering for a committee or learning

more about the PMN Designation. Visit WCR.org for more

information about the leadership track.

The 2015 Awards luncheon was recently held at

the Renaissance Hotel Orlando during the Mid-Winter

Florida Realtors Convention.

It was a sold-out event featuring Real Estate trainer

Mark Leader with a fabulous sit down lunch served. Our

very own 2015 Women’s Council of Realtors State Presi-

dent Pamela Banks and I were honored to present the

Awards. This was a very special time for me since Pamela

Banks had guided me to take the next step and go to the

next level, which was to serve as chair of the State Awards

task force.

Women’s Council is all about, helping each other

to grow personally and professionally. I’m proud to be a

part of the organization.

Impact 100 Palm Beach County To Hold

Fifth Annual Grand Awards Ceremony

Invites Palm Beach County Women to Join “Efficient

Philanthropy” by March 31st

Impact 100 Palm Beach County invites wom-

en who want to make a big impact on their communi-

ty to join them by March 31st to be part of an organi-

zation that is dedicated to awarding high-impact

grants to nonprofit groups that rely on donations to

further their missions.

This impact will be felt by thousands in Palm

Beach County when Impact 100 Palm Beach County

women gather at Lynn University’s World Perform-

ing Arts Center* on April 19, 2016, to award grants to

five non-profit organizations in southern Palm Beach

County during the Fifth Annual Grand Awards Cere-

mony. All women who join the organization by

March 31, 2016, are eligible to vote in the selection of

organizations which have applied for grants.

At the Grand Awards ceremony, women who have

made a $1,000** donation to become an annual mem-

ber, will pool those donations together to make

$100,000 grants to deserving charities in the catego-

ries of education, environment, arts and culture, fami-

ly and health and wellness.

During the event, each of the finalist nonprof-

its will have the opportunity to describe their project,

their vision and what the high-impact grant would

mean for their organization and the community. After

the presentations, Impact members vote and those

with the most votes will receive a grant of $100,000

each.

Last year, there were 436 members, allowing

them to give away four $100,000 grants to Best Foot

Forward of Boca Raton, The Soup Kitchen, Inc. of

Boynton Beach, Florida Fishing Academy of Lake

Worth and Pathways to Prosperity of Boynton

Beach. In addition, the runners up, Boca Helping

Hands of Boca Raton and Flamingo Clay Studio of

Lake Worth, were each awarded $18,000 grants.

A progressive leader in philanthropy by

women, Impact 100 promotes “The Power of Women

Giving as One,” seeking to advance high impact giv-

ing and action by bringing individual women together

and making a singular local impact.

“The goal of Impact 100 is to make it possi-

ble for a visionary idea to become a reality in a way

that impacts the local community,” stated Co-

President Susan Duane. “In our four-year history, Im-

pact 100 Palm Beach County has awarded $1,124,000

to 19 non-profits to make positive changes in South-

ern Palm Beach County, south of Lake Worth Road.

Our goal for the fifth year, is 500 members and

$500,000 in transformational grants.”

Impact 100 is operated as a charitable compo-

nent fund at the Community Foundation for Palm

Beach and Martin Counties. The Foundation also as-

sists with the annual grant-making process.

All women who would like to be a part of this

powerful "giving circle" are warmly welcomed! Member-

ship deadlines on March 31, 2016. To join, or to learn
