You Did This!

How Will You Be Remembered? It is an important question. Did you do something to make the world a better place? What will your legacy be? We can help you answer these questions. Creating your legacy for our community through the Washington County Community Foundation can be an easy process. And the best part? Children and families from the future will thank you. That small gift in your will can rescue so many ‘unprivileged’ worth rescuing ... and as yet unborn! Your charity has a brilliant future, I can promise you. When you name our Foundation as the Payable on Death (POD) or Transfer on Death (TOD) beneficiary of your investment, checking or savings account, you can easily give back to Washington County. A gift like this won’t affect your lifestyle, but it will make a tremendous impact on our community. Your generosity can be the “extra help” that tips the balance for one person and then for many other people. Even giving as little

as 5% of your estate (remember, your heirs will still receive 95%) can have a multi-million dollar impact for the future of Washing-ton County. Easy enough to do in a small charitable bequest. You can make that possible. The future will love you!”

YOU helped to make all this happen. 2014 was a big year for us! Because of you, our generous donors, we were able to:

• Help over 150 families find organizations that could help them with Basic Needs, Income Assistance, Mental Health Issues, Healthcare, Transportation, and Employment Services • Provide hygiene packs for people who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder• Teach elementary and middle school students the basics of managing their finances• Provide low-income elementary students at West Washington and Bradie Shrum with Back to School basics so they can start school with the necessary supplies• Enhance a play area for kids who are victims of domestic violence• Help adults learn to read• Support individuals who were having problems making ends meet by helping them with their utility bills for one month• Improve the YMCA/Community Learning Center/Senior Citizen parking lot• Purchase grain storage extrication equipment utilized in training and to have on site in Washington County for emergency response situations.• Feed hungry families• Host at least two soil health field days focused to improve soil management, water quality and nutrient management in Washington County.• Help 10 people pass their High School Equivalency exam• Feed over 100 children every weekend through the Dare to Care- Back Pack Buddies Program• Assist Friends of Beck’s Mill obtain a matching grant to build a Blacksmith and Carpenter Shop• Provide mentally challenged adults with physical training equipment• Honor Vietnam Vets• Help adults in our community realize a lifelong dream of going back to school to complete their degree • Give 80 children a better Christmas through the Christmas Assistance Program• Provide anti-bullying classes to elementary students• Support a county wide youth community service day• Give an abandoned animal a second chance• Award over $114,000.00 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors• AND provide support to over 50 local nonprofits to help them further their mission
