co-curricular life.
Please remember, you are always
welcome to come to the

health and nutrition, or drugs
and alcohol. Our Peer Educators
can provide one-on-one support
and help connect you to the
resources that will provide the
most help.
Over the years, the Wellness Center realized that we tended to get a lot of students requesting support because they were unsure of how to help their friends. We understood that friends were in the unique position of being able to offer resources to those suffering from various problematic situations. %
The “How To Help A Friend” Campaign focuses on how friends can act as a resource for a someone who is going through a particular situation. Presentation topics include alcohol abuse, eating disorders, depression, and sexual assault, among others. %
The presentations combine information about the situation with testimonials from St. Olaf students who have been through it before, resources in the St. Olaf and Northfield communities, and ways in which they can support help support themselves.

Peer Educators choose a focus topic at the beginning of the year to build up knowledge in a special area of health. Throughout the year, they each offer monthly programming on said topic, providing St. Olaf students with a broad variety of information on health topics throughout the
entire semester.
MENTAL HEALTH:
Mental Health focuses on the student’s emotional and mental journey throughout the college experience. Considering the amount of pressure that St. Olaf students go through, our MH Peer Educators tailor programs specifically towards issues that students may face.
PHYSICAL HEALTH & NUTRITION:
College presents new opportunities for students to learn how to take care of their bodies and understand how the food they choose to eat can effect their lives. This focus area leads Body Image Awareness Week annually in the spring.
SEXUAL HEALTH:
Sexual Health is an extremely important topic in college settings. The SH Peer Educators place an emphasis on healthy sexual behaviors and provide resources so that St. Olaf students make safe choices about sex. These Peer Educators also lead Sexual Responsibility Week annually.
