What is research?

Research Research enquires involve: Putting forward ideas that can be tested

(hypothesis) Collecting data to test these ideas in a

systematic way Analysing the collected data Drawing conclusions based on research

evidence.

The Welsh Dimension The research project must compare your chosen topic’s relevance to

Wales to somewhere else in the world. For EG; - Title = Teen Pregnancies- Hypothesis = Wales has the highest teen

pregnancies in Europe.- Comparison = Welsh statistics to England to

somewhere else in Europe to Africa You would analyse reasons for the

differences.

Decide what topic you will research. This is your Title.

A hypothesis is a statement you can test. Decide on a statement to do with your topic. For example;

Title = Obesity Hypothesis = Children in Wales are

obese because they play to many video games

Research Plan All research needs a plan What is your aim? What resources will you need? What will you do? (step by step) How will you do it? When will you do it by?
