Wayne Thiebaud Cakes
Grade 4 Art Lesson Days 16-20
Wayne Thiebaud was considered a Pop Artist. Remember, Pop Art is art that represents popular/well-known/easily recognized objects/people/symbols and other pop culture images. Wayne Thiebaud was most well known for his paintings of food, especially cakes.
You are going to draw a cake, or cupcake, using what you’ve learned about drawing cylinders.
Remember: lines must follow the contour (shape) of the object. So any lines drawn on the curved side of a cylinder must also be curved.

Directions:
Sketch a simple cylinder with pencil (draw lightly!). Add a plate if you’d like.
Decorate the cake.
Outline if necessary.
Add color if you’d like.
Add value: Shading dark to light to show shadows and highlights.
Alternate projects:
Bake a cake or cupcake and decorate it.
Make a cake or cupcake out of clay, Model Magic, or some other modeling clay. Paint or color with markers.
Dear parents, In light of the amount of time that we have missed school thus far, I would like for the students to utilize my Google classroom for additional materials, and previously learned materials, to be used as extension activities that are currently not on the District website for Spanish class. My Google classroom can be accessed through a phone or computer. Please download the Google classroom app for your phone. Below please find the directions to access Google classroom from a computer. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected]. When emailing me, please include your child’s full name and teacher's name in the email. I happily teach every 3rd and 4th grade student. :) If you do not have access to the Internet during this time frame, please do not worry. These are merely extension activities for students who are interested in Spanish or would like more to do at home. How to access Google classroom from a computer. Step by step directions:
1. Sign into Google. Your child’s Google username and password is the same as it is for their Chromebook at school. If they remember how to log into their Chromebook, then they can log into Google. If by chance, your child does not remember their username and/or password, please email your child's teacher as the teacher will have that information. Unfortunately, I do not have that information.
2. Once signed into Google, click the waffle looking icon (nine dots) at the top right hand corner next to the letter of your name or picture icon.
2. Select the green chalkboard with the word Classroom below the green chalkboard.
3. Select Español which will be followed by your child’s teachers name.
