II. RESEARCH, SCHOLARLY, AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

In my discipline, “peer-reviewed” is defined as two or more anonymized peers providing substantive feedback usually supplemented by additional meta-reviewers. In contrast, “editorially reviewed” is defined as reviewing with substantive feedback provided by a known individual or pre-set committee.

In my sub-discipline, full papers published in the proceedings of the top-ranked, highly selective conferences are viewed as equally (if not more) important than journal articles. These are highly peer reviewed, with typical acceptance rates under 30%, and are considered final archival publications. To help highlight these distinctions they are noted as follows: > for a major full archival conference paper and ) for a standard full archival conference paper.

It is the convention in my lab to list author names in decreasing position by contribution. The only variance is when working with students I list students first and faculty advisor(s) last by the same rule. Additional special notation: undergraduate or graduate *student, [award granted], {acceptance rate for submission category when available}.
