Wayne County Barn Quilt Trail
Commemorating 100 Years of Extension
The quilt squares of Wayne County have been a growing
trend through the appreciation and inspiration of our
local residents. In 2013, some of these designs were
created in workshops, provided by the Cooperative
Extension Service, where talent is still inspiring our
County’s heritage through both farming and quilting.
Other designs have been included for their
beauty along the way. We hope that you
enjoy your very own personal driving tour
of Wayne County’s Barn Quilts.
If you are a resident of Wayne County and would like
to have your Barn Quilt included on our trail, please
contact the Wayne County Extension Office
606-348-8453 or by email Jody Paver, FCS Agent,
[email protected] or Seth Hart, Extension
Assistant, [email protected]
Wayne County Cooperative Extension Service
255 Rolling Hills Blvd., Monticello, KY
“Churn Dash, Flower Basket, Sawtooth Star”
Designed by Seth Hart and Gaye Hutchison
To commemorate 100 years of service through Cooperative
Extension and Family Consumer Sciences.
In 2014, we celebrate the Smith-Lever Act, which established
the Cooperative Extension Service, a unique educational
partnership between the U.S. Department of Agriculture and
the nation’s land-grant universities that extends research-based
knowledge through a state-by-state network of extension
educators. For 100 years, the Smith-Lever Act has stimulated
innovative research and vital educational programs for youth
and adults through progressive information delivery systems
that improved lives and shaped a nation. Join us as we celebrate
100 years of extending knowledge and changing lives.
