The Board of Directors of the William Way LGBT Community

Center are happy to announce that the search for the next

    Executive

    Director is

    on target

    and moving

    forward to

    secure the

    next leader

    of the

    Center!

    Having

    received

    scores of

    applications

    when the

    position was

formally posted in January, the Board of Directors, Executive

Search Committee, and consultants McCormack and Associates

narrowed the pool of applicants to a handful of qualified,

experienced professionals. During the months of March and

April, these same stakeholders were able to narrow the final

    applicant pool to two finalists!

On Saturday, April 24, 2010, key stakeholders, including

Cornerstone Society members, Board members, and staff met

with the final candidates and learned about their individual

    experiences, insights, and perspectives.

The process is wrapping up and the community will be kept

informed of the final decision in the coming weeks! The

Board of Directors thanks the community for their input and

patience during this time of executive transition at the

Center and looks forward to the formal announcement as

    soon as possible!

Former Executive Director `Dolph Ward Goldenburg grew the

Center at an unprecedented rate, working with the Board of

Directors, staff, and volunteers to increase program atten-

dence, donorship, and transparency to the community. Board

and staff are confident that the current search will result in

a leader who wil to continue to grow the Center. Indeed, the

Centers best days are ahead of it!

Be sure to sign up for the Centers weekly email blast at

www.waygay.org to find out when the final decision is

    made!

    D e a r J e s s i e a n d J o r d a n ,

Ive lived in the neighborhood for years, but I just startedcoming into the Center. It seems like a good place to meetnew people, but I was hoping to meet some fellow nature-lovers and outdoorsmen like me.

Does the Center have any sort of nature group?

Nowadays, local, state, and federal programs are feelingthe stress of the recession as tax receipts shrink and theneed for government services increases. Most organizationsare receiving fewer public dollars as these resources dimin-ish. In late April, the William Way LGBT Community Centerheld an Open House for Philadelphia-area legislators andgovernment officials! Leaders from the Pennsylvania StateLegislature, US Congress, and Philadelphia municipal gov-ernment listened to speakers detailing the importance ofthe Center in their lives. Center members and volunteersmingled with leaders and their individual experience withthe Center. The goal of the open house was to inform pub-lic officials about ways the William Way LGBT CommunityCenter can help their constituents.

It is the Centers hope that this dialogue will continue andwill open doors to new opportunities next year for local, state, and federal assistance.

To learn more about how you as local constituents canhelp the Center build more bridges with local leaders, contact Development Coordinator Josh Kruger at
