Lyric Stage presents THE NEW MOON in concert, January 21-24, 2016 in the Irving Arts Center's Carpenter Performance Hall, 3333 N. MacArthur Blvd., Irving, TX. The production will feature the 35 piece Lyric Stage Orchestra under the baton of music director Jay Dias. Andy Baldwin will make his Lyric Stage directorial debut with THE NEW MOON's 44 person cast. THE NEW MOON A Romantic Musical Comedy Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein 2nd, Frank Mandel and Laurence Schwab Music by Sigmund Romberg THE NEW MOON was composer Sigmund Romberg's third hit in a row and the last of the great Broadway comic operettas. The original Broadway production ran for 519 performances at the Imperi-al Theatre (September 19, 1928-December 14, 1929). The Desert Song (1924), Student Prince (1925), The New Moon; no other composer produced three in a row like this, of such quality and with such success. Perhaps The New Moon is his most impressive. Lyric Stage's production will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for North Texas audiences to hear this glorious score sung by an ensemble of incredible singers accompanied by the 35 piece Lyric Stage Orchestra. "Lover, Come Back to Me," "One Kiss," and the rousing "Stout-Hearted Men" are three of the hit songs from Romberg's greatest score. Christopher J. Deaton and Kristen Lassiter, stars of Lyric Stage's THE DESERT SONG and THE GOLDEN APPLE, return to Lyric Stage as star-crossed lovers Robert and Marianne. The cast also features Ellie Hertel, Kyle Coughlin, Daron Cockerell, Ryan Appleby, James Williams, Sonny Franks, Kasey Yeargain with Ben Phillips, Cristina María Castro, Neil Rogers, Scott Sutton, Taylor Quick, Rus-sell Batchelor, Sarah Comley Caldwell, Brendon Gallagher, Julie Rhodes, Parker Fitzgerald, Kelly Sil-verthorn, Susan Metzger, John Wenzel, Jacie Hood Wenzel, Justin A. Getting ready for the Spring season, the Denton Bach Society has openings for new singers. We especially encourage men to audition with a prepared piece (art song, aria, carol, or hymn) fol-lowed by sight reading and tonal memory exercises. Please send any inquiries to [email protected] so that we may answer any questions you have and can schedule an audition. Our rehearsals are Monday evenings, beginning on January 25th at 7 pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 703 N Elm St, Denton, TX 76201. Our Spring concert, likely to take place in the later part of April, will feature chamber music of the Romantic era. We also will have conductor auditions with the choir in the months preceding our concert. A brief note on our conductor John Irving, Interim Director of the Denton Bach Choir. He currently pursues a doctorate in choral conducting at the University of North Texas. John earned a master’s degree in choral conducting from West-minster Choir College and a bachelor’s degree in music education from the Uni-versity of Texas at Austin. His musical training began as a treble with the Texas Boys Choir.

The Richardson Community Band announces its 13th season of concertsat the Charles W. Eisemann Center in Richardson. George W. Jones, director of the band, announced the schedule of concerts for the 2015-2016 season at the Eisemann Center, located at 2351 Performance Drive at Lookout and Glenville Roads in Richardson. The band will perform all of its concerts in the Hill Performance Hall. The four concert series will include a wide assortment of musical selections targeted to appeal to all age groups. "The Richardson Community Band has developed a reputation of performing music that inspires and reaches a broad audience from classical to pop, from European concert halls to stage, screen and broadly-recognized current hits." states band President Christy Shows. "This season will be no exception."
The band is proud to announce that all of the concerts in this season's Eisemann Series will be FREE OF CHARGE. Also different this season will be the concert start times. In order to make the concerts accessible to more people, the start time for all four concerts this season will be 3:00 p.m.

What is Cooperative Arts News?
The Mission: The CAN organization was created for the purpose of helping cooperative member arts organizations build audiences by supporting each other. CAN will send notifications to list members with news of member organizations' upcoming events and other arts news of interest. The Rules: 1. Since this is a "cooperative" of arts organizations supporting each other, member groups who
would like to post notices, agree to "receive" notifications from other member groups in return. Individuals will have the option at any time to "opt-out" if they choose not to receive future notifications by e-mailing the list manager.
2. In order to preserve the integrity and quality of the postings to this list and to prevent any unwanted "Spamming," all notifications that member groups want to send through this notification list must come through the list manager. Groups simply send an e-mail notification to the list manager with a descriptive write-up and it will be sent. If there are multiple notifications that need to go out, they may be grouped together to reduce the number of e-mails that are sent to the list.
If at anytime, you would like to be removed from this e-mail list or if you are a new organization that would like to join, please e-mail the list manager and your request will be acted upon in a timely manner.
