MEMBERSHIP REPORT

MEMBERSHIP

As at 30 June 2019 our membership was 292. Unfortunately we lost 3 members during the

previous 3 months – two retired, and one passed on.

NEW MEMBERS

A very warm welcome is extended to the six new members who have joined us, effective from 1 July 2019:

Russell Lucas, Jan and Philip Law, Rosemary Benjamin, Suzanne Palmer and Andrew Weatherhead.

New members can be identified by the red spot on their badges. Established members are asked to introduce

themselves to new members, and make them feel welcome.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS FOR 2019 – 2020

Thank you to the one hundred plus members who have already paid their renewal fees and whose emergency

contact details are now on our database.

It is essential that the balance of our membership renewal fees are received by the end of July together with your updated personal information on the renewal form, so that our coordinators can be advised of the current financial

membership of their group together with the new emergency contact details, as promptly as possible.

Some of the information required is to help LACVI provide data to our funding bodies, and when we apply for

Government and Council Grants.

Please ensure membership renewals are completed by 31 July 2019. Thank you for your assistance in this important area of administration of our Club.

If you have any membership queries please contact Sue Tewman on Ph: 9807 6723

The Membership Secretary Waverley LAC Inc P O Box 3045 SYNDAL VIC 3149

section, your name and the purpose of the payment. For example "J SIMPSON MEMBERSHIP" or

“Armchair Travel”. If you pay over the counter, please ensure that the bank teller, or whoever is receiving

the payment, includes this description with the payment. This will make the jobs of the treasurer and

increased to @ $13.50 and, whilst pre-booking is not required,

newcomers are requested to notify

either of the Convenors.

Male and Female LAC Members and

friends who might like to try this activity but do not have the

equipment, can hire a combination of both golf clubs and buggy or a

golf-buggy alone at a reasonable

cost. The flexible rules make Friday Social

Golf at Oakleigh a very pleasurable activity, and a pleasant round of 9

holes takes approximately 2 hours, after which the group returns to the

Pro-shop for a chat and all kinds of

refreshments. Don’t miss out. Golfing at Oakleigh

is a very jolly experience! There is plenty of room for more

players, so please come along.

each Friday? Tee off 7.00am,

us for tea / coffee and biscuits, in the club house (we hire it each

week). Small prizes for weekly

winners. We play "stroke - stableford - Canadian pairs etc.". No

handicap? -- No worries; We will look after that, for FREE. You will be

WEDNESDAY WALKERS Convenor Kevin 9886 3414 / 0403 060 588 Bob 8740 3491

Our group meets on alternate Wednesdays, normally at Charles Street Car Park Mount Waverley, where we car pool

to the start of the walk. Departure time is 9.30 sharp. We have some walks that begin with a train journey, so walkers catch the 9.17 city train from Glen Waverley, joining the train at any station along the Glen Waverley line.

We meet up as a group in the second front carriage. We welcome newcomers to join our group and we cater for all levels of fitness. We usually walk for approx 3/4 hour and then stop for a coffee break and rest, then walk on for

approx another 3/4 hour and stop for lunch and drink in a park. We usually bring our lunch from home.

Funday at the Casino On Monday 29th April, 54 members met in Mt. Waverley and were taken by coach to the door of the Melbourne

Casino. Eventually we were given a very nice lunch box and bottle of water, and allowed into the magnificent Palms auditorium.

Once seated, we were entertained by some excellent singers and a few dancers who were accompanied by recorded

music. Except for being too loud (well it was in the opinion of this scribe), the system allowed us to understand all the words, and the changes in the lighting kept us interested.

During the performance, prizes were awarded, and the first went to our Sam Chin! Later, one of our visitors Gwen Coleman also was lucky. This wonderful day cost us only $10 each, and we again thank Maureen Duggan for

organizing this wonderful outing. Ian Jackson.

Life Activities Management Program – LAMP Despite our initial concerns, at the committee meeting held on 16 July, the members decided to participate in LAMP.

This is a program that LACVi has implemented through revolutioniseSPORT to handle the data of clubs. We have been doing this ourselves using an Access Database and a financial program, but this system is meant to integrate

everything. Time will tell.

This will not affect ordinary members at all EXCEPT that those of you on email will receive a notification of a number

that is :- Your unique identifier within your organisation. Please retain this for your records.

MYKI EXCURSION – MAY

Our MYKI trip on 5th May, Jan Delaney, took 14 of us to the All Nations Park in Northcote. This old quarry has been converted into a fun park, and we climbed to the top of the mound constructed from innumerable huge bluestone

boulders to enjoy the wonderful all-around view. At the entrance, there was an ANZAC memorial mentioning several local people who died during the war.

After lunch in the nearby Northcote Shopping Plaza, we walked back along High St. to the beautiful old town hall,

enjoying looking at the old buildings on the other side of the road, and into the many varied shop windows.
