Seals - One SealSize Fits AllWaukesha 200Series Model

Waukesha’s one-pieceimpeller/shaft sleevedesign not only extendsthe life of seals, but itreduces the number ofshaft seal sizes to one,resulting in a minimumspare parts inventoryrequirement.

Waukesha stationaryseals are designed to lastlonger with a siliconizedcarbon (standard) lappedseat that is replaceableand reversible. Thisprovides an excellentmating surface for thevariety of rotary sealsincluding food grade hardcarbon, siliconizedcarbon, silicon carbideand tungsten carbide. Nomatter how demandingyour application, there’s aWaukesha seal that’stough enough to handle it.

Waukesha’s pumpoffering includes eightsizes of pumps form 4-1/2"to 10-1/2" impeller diameter.All use the same size seal.These pumps have:

An optional watercascade attachment isavailable for handlingproducts that tend tocrystallize. It also protectsthe seal againstoverheating due to highvacuum conditions or highproduct temperatures.

For particularly adverseapplications, Waukeshapumps are also availablewith an external balancedseal with replaceablesilicon carbide matingsurface. The water-cooledrotary double seal

(Type 4) features twoseals fully enclosed with astainless steel sealhousing. Water or othersuitable coolant circulatesthrough the housing undermoderate pressure to coolthe seal surfaces. Highercoolant pressures may beused to assure properinterface between productseal face and productswhich have a tendency tosolidify or otherwisedenature when in contactwith hot, rotating surfaces.For unique applicationsnot covered by stockseals: Consult thefactory for specificrecommendations andother commercial sealtypes available.

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell offers three single stage and onemultistage high-pressure 200 Series centrifugal pump models.Designed for use in membrane filtration systems (reverseosmosis and ultra filtration), they can accommodate highsystem pressure inlet conditions to 1000 PSI producing asmooth, pulse-free high discharge pressure for reducedmembrane wear and increased product quality.

WFI Pumps

Pure Water PumpingPumping water forinjection (WFI) is amandate for a reliablebarrier between theproduct being pumpedinside and threats ofcontamination outside.Waukesha heavy-duty,centrifugal pumps areparticularly adaptable tothis application. Theirdesign, construction andmaterials are aimedspecifically to satisfysanitary requirements.To accommodate WFI,modifications to the sealarea prevent leakage ofcontaminants into thepumpage and thus anycompromise to productintegrity.

Although the term “WFI”describes the high purity,pyrogen-free fluid usedin pharmaceuticalproducts, the same highpump standards arerequired for producinghigh purity, deionizedwater for industrial uses,such as rinses andcleansers for electronicintegrated circuitry.

Versatile Seal OptionsDouble seals areavailable with or withoutthe factory installed flushsystem. The flushsystem includes controlsfor pressure,temperature and flowrate. A uniquelypositioned temperature

probe in the Waukeshaflush system measuretemperatures at the sealarea rather than simplyof the coolant.Single or doublemechanicals seals, suchas John Crane Type 9,may be used with theWaukesha WFI closecoupled pumps. Inaddition, Chesterton 241cartridge seals areoptional for basemounted pumps.In addition, hard sealface materials, such assilicon carbide ortungsten carbide, maybe specified to minimizeparticle generation. Forhigh temperatureservice, includingsteaming duringsterilization, Viton orEPDM elastomers areavailable.

Versatile CasingDrain DesignJust as important assanitary cooling of theseal area is thecomplete draining of thecasing. Pooling of thecondensate duringsteaming, for example,could lead to incompletesterilization. A variety ofcasing drainconfigurations arepossible to suit yourspecific installation.

Sanitary SurfaceFinishesAll wetted parts aremanufactured of 316Lstainless steel.WFI applications requiresmoother productcontact surfaces tominimize microscopiccracks or pockets thatmight trap impurities orfoster bacterial growth.The standard finish forthe Waukesha WFIcentrifugal is 32 Ra (150grit); additional polish isoption up to a 20 Ra(240 grit). Electro-polishis also available.

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell WarrantySeller warrants its products to be free from defects in materials and workmanship from a period of one (1) year from the date of shipment. This warranty shall not apply toproducts which require repair or replacement due to normal wear and tear or to products which are subjected to accident, misuse or improper maintenance. This warrantyextends only to the original Buyer. Products manufactured by others by furnished by Seller are exempted from this warranty and are limited to the original manufacturer’swarranty.

Aseptic Centrifugal Models

For aseptic flow applications, centrifugal models areavailable that retain the benefits of the WaukeshaHeavy-Duty Centrifugal but also include specialdesign features that protect the product zone againstcontamination microorganisms. Modifications assurethat every potential entry point for contaminated air orliquid is bathed in sterile steam.

The JM motor, equipped with a stainless steel shaft, isstandard. Aspectic models may be specified in eitherpedestal or close-coupled configuration.
