is children and parents only walk on the concrete areas. We don’t want people walking on the wooden covered seating areas. The two reasons for this are we want them clean for seating purposes but we are mainly concerned about the large steps particularly for our younger students. We don’t want any nasty accidents. I’m asking all senior students and visitors to set the example for the Kindergarten children. We obviously don’t want people running through the new bark gardens. From Monday the front entrance will be open. The driveway gate will be closed as this will just be for vehicle access. There are two entrances on Waugh Street, one entrance on Mackay Street and four entrances on Campbell Street.Parent Information AfternoonsWe hope we have as many parents as possible attend these afternoons. I encourage every parent to book a three-way meeting with your child’s class teacher. We must all work together to get the best from our children/students. At a minimum, it is vitally important that your children think you are working with the teacher.School Supplies ReminderSo far 110 out of 662 students have paid this $20 levy. Please do so at your earliest opportunity.Young Leaders DayGood luck to our leaders at the conference in Sydney on Monday. Mrs Lovett will meet you outside the Convention Centre. Hopefully, we will see some student recounts in an upcoming newsletter.

Debating WorkshopsWe have eight students participating in a full day debating workshop on Friday 6 March. I’m sure they will enjoy the experience and we look forward to finding and hearing their new talents. Thank you, Mrs Welch, for supporting the students.P&C Meeting and AGM

The AGM will commence at 6:00pm on Thursday 12 March in the school staffroom. This will be followed by the monthly general meeting. We had some lovely new parents attend the last meeting. If you can spare the time we actually have fun at the meetings.Playground EquipmentAt school, we do everything we can to ensure children’s safety. The Department has a rule that if children are on the fixed playground equipment we must have a teacher within two metres of the equipment supervising. We currently have a large number of children who play on the equipment unsupervised after school. We are very concerned that an accident will occur. Please talk to your child about going straight home after school so we don’t have any unnecessary accidents. However, if you are with your child who is on the equipment please stand close and supervise them so we can avoid/minimise injuries. Thank you in advance for your cooperation with the safety of our children.

Sport

Intensive Swimming

This program starts on Tuesday 3 March. Please ensure your child has the correct requirements particularly dry items for afterwards. This two weeks will be tiring for the children attending and also the teachers. Please ensure your child gets plenty of sleep during this time and I’ll do my best to ensure the teachers get their rest!North Coast SwimmingHuge good luck to Axl, Noah, Flynn and Zac for this carnival next Wednesday. I can’t wait to hear how they go. Fingers crossed that they qualify for State. Winter SportHopefully, as many families as possible have registered their children for a winter sport. Remember to use your $100 voucher.Sport is not only great for a healthy lifestyle but it assists children’s development with social skills on so many levels. It is of massive benefit.Bulldogs VisitWe enjoyed a visit from the Canterbury Bulldogs today. They play Canberra in a trial game this weekend.CricketGood luck to Jessica M who will trial for the North Coast team on Monday

Our volunteer SEE teachers use lesson materials which present a range of stories, scenarios and questions to generate discussion. SEE teachers are trained to impartially facilitate student discussions, helping students develop their critical thinking and collaborative inquiry skills. SEE teachers support student learning by:• showing genuine curiosity and interest in the questions being discussed• staying neutral• creating space for students to think, share ideas, give reasons and ensuring SEE is provided by Primary Ethics.
