The Music Lesson

Antoine Watteau created a work in which sever contrast is omnipresent. The girls in the middle as well as the heavily texturized background are light while the characters on the outer edges are very dark. In addition emotionalism plays a big role in this work; the young girls faces are portrayed with clear expressions.

Pilgrimage to Cythera

The foreground of this work seems to be incredibly detailed while the background lacks defining characteristics. The front tree is so enhanced each individual branch is visible while the back tree is hazy color. There are also religious references as evident by the flying babies.
