Waterfall Model

A Waterfall Model is a process model used to map out the sequence of steps in an activity. It

supports the rigid planning and evaluation of each process step that collectively constitute

the entire process.

Using the ‘Waterfall Model’

Step 1: The purpose of the process under development or evaluation is clearly defined.

Step 2: A determination is made regarding requirements or criteria that must be met in

order for the process to achieve its purpose.

Step 3: The existing process or plan is analysed with respect to achieving its purpose.

Step 4: Modifications or revisions to the process are suggested and implemented where

required.

Step 5: The revised process is tested in practice. Support and feedback is given in relation to

its effectiveness.
