Water pollution is one of the greatest problems faced globally at this point of time. Water pollution can be defined as the contamination of water bodies. Which are the lakes, rivers, oceans, aquifiers and so on. When pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into the water bodies without proper treatment to remove harmful substances in it, causes damage to individual species and populations. At the same time, infects the biological communities.

The main source to water pollution is contaminants. This can be divided into organic and inorganic substances. Organic substances are petroleum hydrocarbons, lubricants, and tree and bush debris from logging operations and so on. Wherelse inorganic substances are acidity caused by industrial discharges, fertilizers, trashes, nurdles and more. Thermal pollution contributes to water pollutions too. The rise or fall in the temperature of natural water caused by humans is what thermal pollutions means. The common cause to these is the use of water coolants by power plants and industrial manufacturers. An elevated water temperature eventually decreases the oxygen level in the water bodies. This kills the water habitants and alters the food chain compositions.

If this persist, there will be a huge reduce in water living species and cause a wreck in the biodiversity. Moreover it brings harm to human health too. Therefore, government agencies and research organizations have come up with various way of overcoming this problem. Since this is a global issue everything must have a standardized solution. So with full cooperation from all parties they have published a standard and validated analytical test method to facilitate the events of testing.

This condition can also be tackled in many other ways. But the decision must be based on considering all available technical order to prevent further contamination or more harm to the environment. Firstly, is sewage treatment. Places with more sewer overflows should try more than one engineering approaches to reduce the discharge of untreated water sewage. For example, replace and repair the malfunctioning equipment’s or even households and businesses may have their own septic tank, which treats the waste water on site and discharges into soil.

Secondly is the industrial water waste treatment. As industries generate highly concentrated conventional pollutants, toxic pollutants and so, they should redesign the manufacturing process called prevention. Besides that, in agriculture based countries like India and China washed off sediments from the fields is the major source to this condition. Therefore, farmers can utilize erosion controls to reduce runoff flows and retain soils on their fields. Also farmers can use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques to control over pests, eventually reduce reliance on chemical pesticides and indirectly protect water quality.

In conclusion, there are many way to prevent from water pollution happening apart from what had mentioned above. It is very crucial to take this matter seriously. If this prolongs we may face great difficulties like water shortage, extinction of water livings and more. Therefore, everyone should take responsibility from their hand instead of waiting for the government or others take action.

Treat the water before channelling it out from the farm so that, there will not be any harmful substances like nitrate.
