MOUNT VERNON Mount Vernon is a very interactive experience, with a whole plantation for kids to roam and explore. They can see a real working farm, they can visit George Washington’s tomb, they can go inside the old slave quarters of Washington’s slaves, who he emancipated after his death. And of course there’s the mansion itself. Washington had 400 visitors the first year he was there. He was a party man, he loved to dance. He actually designed the dining room so he could hold giant balls and have dance parties there every night. – Mitch B., Tour Director Day 1: Washington, D.C. – Arrive in Washington, D.C. – Explore Washington, D.C., highlights: Photo stops at the White House, Washington Monument, and WWII Memorial – Smithsonian museums, may include: National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of American History – Night tour of Washington, D.C.: Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day 2: Washington, D.C. • Mount Vernon Mount Vernon: Mansion and grounds, museum and education center, George Washington’s tomb Arlington National Cemetery: Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Kennedy gravesites – Photo stop at the Marine Corps War Memorial – Evening activity 5 or 6 days | Washington, D.C. | Williamsburg Explore America

WILLIAMSBURG

Williamsburg was home to the House of Burgesses, which was the first assembly of elected representatives in the American colonies. It was here that the ideas of liberty and democracy were first discussed and debated. Patrick Henry spoke out against the Stamp Act at the House of Burgesses in 1765, and though many people called him a traitor, his radical ideas helped spark the American Revolution.
