A single Hover Ring (PE01103) and the set of 8 Hover Rings (PE00994)These mini hover craft have been designed specifically for the institutional market i.e. schools , clubs, special schools etc. To make sure that they will stand up to the continuous use that they should get , they have been constructed using ABS plastic (toughened) with a superior dense foam skirt. They have additional features designed in so that a wide variety of games can be played with them, giving the greatest appeal to the widest audience , include those groups with special needs. They are fully rechargeable so no need to worry about the expense of cahnging batteries. As with any rechareable product they will benefit from having their batteries completely dischared b before recharging. They come in red and blue (4 of each colour) to allow for team games.

Hover Ring operationBefore first using , the set of Hover Rings will, need charging for at least 16 hours. Thereafter they should last at least one hour on continuous use setting , much longer on the 20 second ‘cut out’ setting.

Sensible useHover Rings are designed to stand up to the rigours of continual use by children/ adults in an institutional environment and should, therefore, give many years of life in these settings. It has a rechargeable battery ‘built- in’ which does away with the worry of having to continually change ‘fiddly’ batteries and the associated, on-going cost. It comes with its own recharging unit. The devices themselves should never be allowed to get wet or be left out in damp conditions for any period of time. In the event that they do get wet, dry off and place in a warm environment until completely dried out. As with any electrical product, always store in a dry environment.

Hover Rings are designed to be used INDOORS only and will not work on outdoor surfaces – indeed if you try to use them outside, it may well damage the product and invalidate your warranty.

Operation – switches on baseSwitch 1 On/Off/Timed There are two modes: a) On, where the motor stays switched on all the time, or, b) Timed mode, where the motor automatically switches itself off after a period of 20 seconds. To reactivate the Hover Ring in this mode, it just takes a small ‘tap’ with your hand, foot or pusher. This switch also acts as the ‘off’ switch.

Switch 2 Hover Power The higher the setting, the greater the power, the greater the ‘travel’. Apart from the surface, you should take account of the type of game you want to play; some games call for the high setting even though the surface is smooth.

There are three settings:

HIGH – which is designed for carpeted areas and for ‘football’ games

MEDIUM – designed most sports hall, gym , canteen areas where the floor is smooth wood , tiles or concrete

LOW – for smooth floor areas where the distance over which you are playing is 10m or less

Note: you will need to experiment on different settings to achieve the desired result for your floor surface

Delivery The Hover Rings can be launched by hand ( one or two handed) , using the pushers provided or even using the instep of the foot. For those in wheel chairs , the pusher method should work quite well as they are quite ‘ light’ to launch. The Rings will not travel down a ‘boccia’ ramp.

Target Games Three different Target mats are provided in the pack for you to play tarditional target games with . With regards to rules, you will adapt the rules to your particular setting but the rules of bowls , boule or boccia could apply. It is always advised to tape own the leading edge of the mats so that the Hover Rings travel easily ove the front edge. The mats actually have a ‘breaking’ effect which slows the rings as they travel over the mat.

Use Tape Wide , coloured tape makes an effective target medium. Just stick two lengths with a set distance between ( the greater the distance , the easirer it will be to stop the Ring in between the two pieces of tape. For a fully inclusive version of this game stick the tape down in a divergent layout – wide at one end and narrow at the other , then players can aim for the space that will give them ‘ success’. Tape could be used to create boxes to aim at , lines to get close to or to create tram lines inside which the Rings must finish. The players will come up with their own versions! Rebound Games – the versatility of the product will allow you to use surfaces to ‘ rebound ‘ off – maybe benches used at an angle or walls. This allows for ‘two dimensional’ games where the Rings can be sent around corners or have to rebound off one surface before they count. You can have fun with angles and obstacles. Maybe deleop some kind of snooker or billiards variant!

Passing Games Just passing the Hover Ring to one another or in a group is a nice activity. From a kneeling position,. Children will love just passing backwards and forwards. It is easy to develop games involving numbers, relicating the same order of delivery.

You could pass through a target or hoop or arc. You could create a croquet type game . Delivery could be with the pusher rather than with the hand.

Football Passing like a football ,with the instep – it is robust enough to stand up this kind of use but obviously cannot be kicked against a wall like a normal football. In twos or threes. This is perfectly acceptable for the product provided that the players just pass the Ring and treat with some respect. Again a wall or bench could be used for a variant of this game.

Hockey Create a slalom course and ,using a plastic hockey stick, dribble in and out of the cones. Pass the Ring to oneanother with a hockey stick – players should be encouraged to push rather than strike.

Boules, Petanque, Boccia and New Age Kurling

Many of the games played here could be replicated with the Hover Rings and bring an interesting and 21st century feel to the sports.
