REFERENCE AND BACKGROUND The Monticello Parks Department requested to purchase an A770 Bobcat in March 2021. Following City Council’s approval staff was notified the dealer’s inventory was incorrect, and no state contract order units were available. Staff has been searching for another unit with limited success. The A770 Bobcat is an all-wheel steering unit, and 2021 is the last year of production of this unit which has likely increased the demand. A demo unit, with 25 hours of use, was located at Farm-Rite Equipment of St. Cloud for a price of $74,214.07. This price includes an 80” wide bucket and additional lights. Due to the limited inventory, City Council is asked to accept the price quote from Farm-Rite of St. Cloud and to authorize the purchase of a 2021 Bobcat A770 all wheel steer skid loader for the Parks Department. This equipment will replace the 2010 Bobcat A770 currently used in use by the department. Staff recommends moving the old Bobcat to the Monticello Wastewater Treatment Plant rather than trading it in. The bobcat will be used for offloading chemicals as well as snow removal, and it will eliminate the need to make loading ramp modifications or to purchase a forklift for the

I. Budget Impact: The 2021 Bobcat A770 skid loader budget amount of $75,000 will be financed by the Central Equipment Fund in 2021. The Central Equipment Fund is an internal service fund that provides financing for governmental fund (General Fund) capital equipment purchases of $10,000 or more. The Central Equipment Fund recovers equipment costs with annual lease payments from the benefitting department. The annual recovery for this purchase is $9,700.

II. Staff Impact: Improve staff efficiencies.

STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION

City staff recommends approving the purchase of a 2021 Bobcat A770 skid loader with bucket for $74,214.07 through the Central Equipment Fund.
