Warragamba Public School Keeping in Touch Term 4 Week 4 8 November 2019 Principals Message Term 4 is always a very busy term. Lots of very exciting things happening and it can also be an anxious term for our Yr 6 students as they come to the end of their primary school years. We are looking forward to many celebrations as the term moves on and are in preparation for the Yr 6 Farewell, Graduation and Presentation Day. Our teachers are embarking on the Semester 2 reporting period and are busy with assessments and class reports. Staffing Congratulations to Mr Bruny who has been appointed to Werrington County PS through a transfer from Jan 2020. Mr Bruny will finish up at Warragamba PS at the end of the 2019 school year. We wish Mr Bruny all the very best at his new school and thank him for all of his contributions to Warragamba PS over the past 8 years. He will be missed. Please join us in wishing Mr Bruny all the very best for his new school. On Tuesday 22 Oct 2019 we had a staff morning tea to acknowledge Mrs Margo Kirkup’s retirement. It was a special time for Margo to reconnect with past principals and for her colleagues to wish her the very best for her retirement. Mrs Kirkup was the School Administration Manager at Warragamba PS and was here at the school for approx. 25 yrs in various roles. The SAM position will be advertised soon, ready for the 2020 school year. Kinder 2020 Interviews Throughout Week 2 Mrs James met with all of our 2020 Kindergarten students and their families. It was a wonderful opportunity for Mrs James to meet each family and learn a little about each of our students. This Wednesday was our first transition visit for our 2020 Kinder students. We look forward to meeting them all. I know they are all very excited about coming to school. Grandparents Day What a wonderful day we had on Wednesday 23 Oct 2019. It was so lovely to meet and chat with so many of our grandparents and parents. The students loved having their grandparents visit their classrooms. Our grandparents enjoyed a Devonshire Tea and then sat back and watched our performance groups perform for them. We also had an impromptu performance of our Yr 6 students showing off their dancing skills and Thomas W performed his Ukulele solo. Following our mini concert we all enjoyed a picnic lunch and Gelato!!!!! Yr 6 raised just over $1000.00 with the gelato fundraiser. It was yummy!!!! Thank you to everyone who came along on Grandparents Day. It is always a wonderful day. A big shout out goes to Mrs Stucki for organising the donation and purchase of scones from Silverdale Bakery and Mulgoa Bakery, and to Jodie Cooper, Connie Leyden & Judy from the canteen for their baking of scones and support throughout the Devonshire Tea. The help was very much appreciated by us.

Year 6 farewell - the end of the year is fast approaching and that means so is the farewell. This is happening on Thursday 12th December. If your child is in Year 5, please remember to hand back in the RSVP note so we are able to cater accordingly. Along with this, Year 5 students have been asked to bring in 1 bottle of soft drink and 1 bottle of water to help cater. These can be taken to Miss Clarke. The Year 6 graduation assembly and arch will be happening on Tuesday 17th December.

Public Speaking On the 26th September 2019, Zoey V from Early Stage One, Elly D from Stage One, Abbey L from Stage Two, and Serena H from Stage Three participated in the Regional South Operational Directorate Primary Schools Public Speaking Competition: Macarthur Network Final at Oran Park Public School.

After winning for their age group in the Warragamba Public School Public Speaking competition earlier in September, our four representatives needed to present a prepared and impromptu speech against students from other schools in our network (up to nine different schools in each age group) in front of their competition, students from Oran Park Public School, teachers, parents, and two adjudicators.

A special mention goes to Zoey V for receiving a Highly Commended in the Early Stage One section with her prepared speech, on her favourite food, and impromptu speech, on the uses for money, against five other schools.

All our ladies performed admirably on the day and as a school we were commended for our impromptu speech skills. Overall, the day was a great success with all our competitors doing Warragamba Public School proud.

Well Done Zoey, Elly, Abbey and Serena.
