Warragamba Public School
Keeping in Touch – Term 2 Week 9
28 June 2019
Thursday 30 April 2015
Thursday 2 April 2015
Principals Message As we head towards the school holiday break I would like to congratulate the students and staff on a wonderful term. There have been many great achievements and many great things happening here at Warragamba PS. As a staff we are very proud of our students and see daily milestones met and new learning happening in every classroom. I want to say a big thank you to all of my staff who work so hard each and every day to provide our students with the best possible opportunities for learning. I would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable break and we look forward to seeing you all back for Term 3.
Congratulations to Jared D of class 1/2B for winning the raffle. There were many students, and staff, willing to share in his victory. Enjoy!!!!!!!!! Congratulations to our Rugby League KO team who went along to the Gala Day at Eschol Park in Week 7. Well Done
Congratulations to our Netball Schools Cup Teams who went and played in their Gala Day on the 12 June 2019. They had a very successful day which now sees our Snr Team move on to the next level where they go and play at the Netball Central in Homebush. Well Done Congratulations to Izabel B who represented the razorback Zone at the Regional Cross Country Carnival where she came 13th out of 96 runners!!! Amazing. Well Done
We have also been getting tyres delivered for our NAIDOC activity next week. The last delivery arrived last week and 5/6P students helped Mr Steinweiss place the tyres down around the garden. We are still looking at
getting a few more to complete the area.
Last week our staff undertook their first of four twilight sessions of professional learning. The staff worked really hard and there was a lot of professional discussion about the teaching of reading at our school and the ways in which we are addressing individual needs.
Canteen This is just some information regarding the canteen. The canteen will not be open on the first Wednesday (24.07.19) back in T3. It will reopen on Thursday 25 July 2019.
Trees We have recently received our tree report back following our annual assessment. The actions required will be carried out in the first and second week of the school holidays. Unfortunately the big tree at the back of the hall must be removed as it has been identified as high risk, and then a new tree will be planted in its place. Further inspection by council is required for the other big tree down in South Playground. I have sent through a request to council and will keep you informed of our progress. We will keep it fenced off until council have been out and advised us of next steps. Thank you Thank you to two of our ex-students who assisted Mrs Johns with locating some lost money in Third Street. Mrs Johns was looking for $20.00 that had been dropped by a student on her way to school. Joshua S & Tyron L happened to be on their bikes at the time and stopped to assist. They rode their bikes up the road and found the money and brought it back to Mrs Johns. Thank you from us. Mrs Johns very much appreciated the help.
Food Containers
Please be mindful of the type of food containers that are coming to school. We have recently had a glass drink bottle smash in the playground and last week we found a glass food container sitting in the COLA where students play. This is a safety concern so we are just asking everyone to be aware and please only send containers that are safe for the playground. Tins of tuna can also be a concern because of the sharp edges once the lid is opened.
Whiteboard Markers
As we are coming up to the end of the first semester some of the student supplies that you provided for your child at the beginning of the year are running out. If possible can you please check your child's supplies over the holidays and restock if possible. We are also very appreciative of any whiteboard marker donations to classrooms as we use so many of these on a daily basis.
Thank you

What has been happening in Stage 2?
I have been extremely lucky to see many students these past few weeks. I enjoy them coming to visit me and showing me the great work they are doing in class.
Students in 3C have been trying really hard to improve their handwriting skills. They should all be extremely proud of the work they have produced. Well done, 3C!
Mrs Merrick sent students from 4M to see me who have demonstrated improvement in their spelling activities. They have been working on contractions as well as making sure they use the right word to show different tense. Great job, 4M
Students from 4C have been working on writing persuasive texts. These students were selected to show Mrs Shepherd their great writing. Lily also got to show Miss Foster her writing because her writing topic was, All students should learn how to play a musical instrument. Miss Foster was very impressed with her persuasive text. Fantastic work, 4C!
We hope to see Mr Meani back at school next week. He has been home resting his ankle after a soccer injury! I am sure Mr Meani will send some students to see me next week with some great work!

PVPAF Choir Rehearsal
On Wednesday our snr choir and our Ukulele group went along to Surveyors Creek PS for their second rehearsal. Miss Foster was very impressed with our students both for their behaviour and their performances. I believe that a teacher from another school was heard commenting about how talented our students are. So proud of our school!!!! Thank you Miss Foster for all of your hard work in preparing our students for their performances. Looking forward to the event on the 6 August 2019.
Gentle Reminder Should your child be unwell and unable to attend an Excursion, Choir event or Sport Gala Day… please contact the School early and let us know? This will save multiple calls by us to check whether students are attending and possible late arrivals to events. Thank you.
