Design SituationAs technology evolves, visual communicators are continually placed under pressure to move with the times and ensure
they are proficient with a variety of design tools and able to use various ICT applications. It is therefore crucial that in
addition to being a good print designer you are adaptable and proficient in online design strategies and tools. This design
brief will challenge you to plan, design and produce a web site for a band that YOU invent from scratch.
Design BriefAfter participating in lessons on logo and branding, HTML code, Dreamweaver, Content Management Systems
(WordPress), web planning and production you are to conceive, design, develop and produce the following:
1. The name, genre of music and logo/brand for a band or musical act of your choice.
2. Design a logo for your band and produce a brand style guide.
3. Create a web site plan showing the structure of a web site for the band – this is to include a Landing Page,
Home Page and at least three (3) linked pages.
4. Produce the web site - use Adobe Dreamweaver for the Landing Page and use A WordPress (CMS) for the Home
Page and at least three (3) linked pages.
5. Create at least 4 x A3 layouts featuring your designs in your folio.
Use the Design Process, with particular attention to Research (collected examples) and Brainstorming (sketches and ideas
on paper) to show all process work in your VAPD and recorded on your WordPress blog.
Refer to the ‘What do I need to do?’ section to identify exactly what you need to produce for this task.

Task requirements: What do I need to do?MILESTONE 1 (due Friday week 12)
1. Create a new page in your Wordpress blog (online diary) called S2 Band Logo & Website.
2. Show your understanding of the Design Process by recording research, sketches, drawings, ideas and concepts on
the S2 Band Logo & Website page. Include a written comment with each ‘post’ explaining what it is and why you have
included it.
3. Develop band name ideas and logo concepts as hand produced sketches and record on your S2 Band Logo &
Website page.
4. Produce your final band logo in Adobe Illustrator and produce a brand style guide (single A3) as per teacher’s
in-class instructions.
MILESTONE 2 (due Friday week 16)
5. Produce a web site plan and display final wireframe as part of your S2 Band Logo & Website page.
6. Create a New Site in Adobe Dreamweaver – the folder containing files relevant to this New Site will be the main item
you submit at the completion of the task.
7. Produce your Landing Page using an Adobe program of your choice. Once designed, migrate it into Adobe
Dreamweaver as your site’s Index page as part of your New Site. Show production (screen images) as part of your S2
Band Logo & Website page.
8. Build your website’s Home Page and other pages as per your website plan using a new WordPress theme to
complement the overall brand style. Populate your web pages with content relevant to each page.
9. Complete a Designer’s Statement to explain and justify your final design – post this to the Home Page of your blog.
10. Complete a PMi evaluation to evaluate the success of your final design – post this to the Home Page of your blog.
11. Submit your site folder containing your Landing Page (index.html), images folder and any working files to your
teacher via Google Drive Share or USB drive to your teacher by the deadline.
NOT FORMALLY ASSESSED
12. Produce and print a minimum of four (4) A3 pages featuring the work for the task as you deem appropriate for your
