Why do you think Hansberry chose to add the scene where Walter and Beneatha are doing the Nigerian chant and singing? Was it comic relief? Was it to show how they have all lost it? Or was it for another reason? Explain.

Take out your Raisin in the Sun packet!! Turn to the Act 2 Vocabulary.

We will review the words and parts of speech. Then we will do a writing activity with them…

Activity: Write for 5-7 minutes. Every 10 seconds or so, I will call out a vocabulary word. When I call it, you must use this word correctly in your writing.


If you started your log this weekend, print it out and bring it what you have so far on WEDNESDAY (tomorrow). We will be having a log work day.

Your Log for Act 2 is due FRIDAY. We will have a log work day then.

We will finish Act 2 this week. There will be an Act 2/Vocabulary quiz this coming MONDAY (3/31).

Warm Up: April 1st, 2014

It seems as if the characters of “A Raisin in the Sun” have played an April Fool’s Day joke on us! Just when we think we have them all figured out, they change!

Write a chart for Mama, Ruth, Bennie and Walter. On one side, write some adjectives for them from Act 1. On the other side, write some adjective for them now. How have they changed?
